Hunt rolls--in the vast majority of cases--are only applied if the Free Peoples moved The Fellowship that turn. And each Nazgul leadership = 1, except for The Witch King [The Black Captain], whose leadership = 2.

Why am I replying to a topic 7 years after the fact? Another game I enjoy is being transferred from FFG to another publisher under Asmodee, much like War of the Ring prior to its 2nd edition and expansions. I'm checking to see if Forums can still be interacted with when the IP is "dead" and archived.

Hmmm. It seems you can interact with archived forums for games no longer published by FFG.

    🤣🤣

I just purchased a Swolo! I just recently saw @Hoarder of Garlic Bread flying one and realized I actually really liked it for variety sake.... only for Kylo tho

    UP TO 2! 😝

PS... I think I’d fly Ember

    Excellent!

As an update for you watching my ill-fated games (batrep and such to come later this busy week), not only did I roll some average stuff online that night, but I invented a training tool that simulates severely haunted greens and it works! With it forcing myself to take the first of many many steps to learn to "see the matrix" of gameflow relative to the ticking timer, I'm beginning to be weaned off hiding behind clouds and hoping for at absolute worse moderately bad results. Winning with "Ghostmode" (so long as my opponent is fine with me severely handicapping myself) is indescribably good-feeling (although the ironic bit is that with this tool I have still to roll quite like Saturday XD).

I think a fair amount of us have been in the same sort of mindset after an event like that.  Take the break if you find you need it...purposefully avoid the knee-jerk X-Wing content consumption you might normally do.  You'll likely come back refreshed.

I've avoided the forums aside from this thread and checked Discord twice this week. I'm taking a break from the talking about the game, but I still aim for the tourney this weekend. Even if I don't do well, the social aspect of X-Wing is one of the best aspects.

Doesn't get played much anymore...but Tavison

Ah Tavison, the OP merging of Tavson and Thannison!

As a sidenote, what would Tavson crew do? If Thannison crew/pilot punishes getting stressed/red/orange tokens, would Tavson just be a single recurring charge of his ability? How much would that cost, 10 pt?

  6. Hot take:

The new WSO gunner will be too expensive to spam effectively, especially when most factions can get around its need.

As previously discussed, it'll be great on single ships like a Torpedo Dengar with Jango crew and False Codes. But it's not worth spamming it in a world of passive sensors, targeting sync, lock sharing, or early locks.

Do you Dooku a blank or a focus?

I think for red dice, you Dooku a blank, as focus and blank result have an equal chance of showing up at 25%, allowing you to fairly often change two of the results to blanks. On defense, blanks are more common at 37.5% while focus results are still 25%, so you might want to call the focus.

I said when shooting at Jedi :P

  8. Very nice! I saw Outmaneuver on Rex and immediately thought "what? No Lone Wolf?" before looking back and seeing it on Soontir. With a 25 pt bid, do you think it safe enough to cash some of it for a missile like Mag Pulse Warheads? 19 pt still outbids even Niklas God's Ryloth list, which is probably the deepest bid out there.

Oh hey, you just described modern society :D

Eh. Plato did when he had his representation of Socrates wise by knowing how little he knew and thus being uncharacteristically immune for any of the characters to the Dunning Kruger effect. Once again, all Western philosophy is footnotes to Plato!

I don't even have an adjective to describe the reality that people thought ffg would be unaffected by a global pandemic, I struggled to process it then, and struggle to process it now.

To be honest, there's a lot of projecting and assuming going on in these forums.

To not sound negative, I will say that the booster engines + I5 ship ability is a neat synergy. SLAM or shoot? Get the info then decide in system and git that Jedi!

  11. Nice disruption of CLT, although Republic is so full of mods. He'll mainly be a better version of Vermiel, which is good, but not as impressive as I6.

Against evadeless Jedi/Vader trying to escape him? He'll hit like a freight train even without Juke. Or he'll pose that threat to those ships wanting to perform a white maneuver so they have to do something else. A subtle, but situational interaction I call "The Vonreg Effect."

  12. @gennataos Will Overdrive Thrusters be good on Daredevil Nien? I know they'll be good on old Poe, but a Nien who could end over three bases away from a position and rotated 90* without stress seems cool. Will he have to be locked by M9G8 to be worth it?

With Pattern Analyzer you could focus and double reposition as per the usual, but now your options are expanded.

  13. Sorry for the sloppy stream game. I was tired as **** from a quick errand, a 9.5 hour shift, playing Counterstrike to not risk sleeping through it all only for a possible 2.5 hours of sleep, and then the X-Wing. I can handle a bunch of X-Wing, but not on top of that stuff beforehand. I was paired against something I was hard countering so it's not like I was going to lose it anyway.

Incidentally, my loss came from my 2nd game of Spamtex. As per the simulations, practice, and the precedent set by Round1, I traded Vonreg for at least 2.5 bugs. Danced around so they can't get me, etc. etc. Lazily dialed the 5 forward instead of the 4 forward or the 3 bank, and used autos to dodge arcs. The positioning was such that the subsequent roll + hard turn drove me off the mat by a few pixels. Goodbye full HP untouchable point fortress.

On the brightside, Kylo got halved only once and never destroyed. But I suppose fleeing off the board is embarrassing. The matchup gods have blessed me with not facing certain I6's, let alone any I6. More bonuses to the 5-1 finish as opposed to being 6-0 is that people will complain slightly less about Supernat Kylo being the bug killer of the week and how cancerous he is. But hey, since this is a Polish tournament, it's like the Witcher: you need to make a monster to kill the monsters only to realize that many of the monsters are actually OK and that the real monsters are the people who ***** about monsters, such as the monster created to fight the OG monster.

Tagging @pyoinator and @ToiletPaper Fiend because I am far too tired to be bothered to text with my thumbs. Staying awake for announcements and then sleeping.

My definition of an ace is a ship that can win 100% of the 1 v 1s in the late game against generic fighters (think t-65). That's why ships like echo can be included in the list, even though they are not the highest initiative their unique flying patterns allow them to dominate most 1 v 1s. At the same time, I wouldn't consider Vader an actual ace because he has to rely on dice to actually beat the opponent, so there is a chance he can lose against a generic t-65

That's a very good definition. Far more concrete than most, and certainly more than my nebulous definition.
