I love the dark volcanic rock juxtaposed with the green of the vegetation.  Do you know where they filmed those scenes?  I tried to emulate it for my Krennic base with black paint and a little black sand.

Hi Everyone!  It’s been a while but it turns out you can generally manage taking miniature photos in a light box while listening to someone drone on in a conference call.  So I’ve taken the below this morning.  A few of these miniatures I may have posted on this forum before, but it’s been a while and I thought it would be worthwhile to post them all together.  Hope everyone is safe and comfortable.

Seemed like separating the forces was a good idea, and I have just painted this thing.  Very simple but I think it looks really nice.

Dooku: in my opinion the best sculpt for Legion and a very simple model to paint and make look nice because the sculpt is both beautiful and easy to block out.

Droid army - it pains me to pose these guys in such a disorganized way, but in ranks the individual minis don’t show up.

I bought the clone wars starter to put together skirmish forces to play with my son.  I haven’t finished the BARC speeder but it’s a pretty fun pair of armies to paint.  Again, hope everyone is safe and comfortable.

The end of the word hasn't sent me home from work yet, but it has rearranged my schedule a ton. Here's my finished project of the 21st Nova Corps (Phase IIs and modded Snowtroopers). I'm no pro, for sure, but for 3 months experience painting I'm pretty pleased with the result!
With both Cody and Bacara from Mel Miniatures, I've struggled to get a good look from my paints, I didn't have this issue as much with Aayla from Skull Forge Studios. Does anyone have any experience with Mel?
And I know, Aayla fought with the 327th Star Corps, but I think she fits in with the 21st.

Hi all! Here is where I will post my paint jobs. Did a little painting with 1/72 WWI minis before getting into Legion, but haven't really painted seriously before getting the Clone Wars core set in January. C & C welcome as I hope to keep improving.

Here's my Saber Tank. The one thing I know I could do better was completely forgetting to wash the recesses before weathering it. I tried to go back and do some of it but I didn't like how it looked over the dry brushing. Still, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
Also, how do I make these imgur links appear as images? Got it!

So with a semi-lockdown in place due to the Corona pandemic I suddenly appear to have a lot of free time on my hands. Or let's just call it a good excuse to finally start painting that Legion core set I've been holding on to for a while now. Assembly line was started, painted 14 clones in one go. Here are the first results:

    And before priming:

My goal when painting these was to speedpaint them to a high tabletop standard and to try things I never did before. Those things ended up being acrylic inks, oil paints and pigment powders. I must say I had a blast when painting these and I should have tried these methods way earlier.

Let me know what you guys think. One thing I am considering is adding some colour to the visors to add a little more visual interest to the models

I actually did this, but it popped off the hardened green stuff.  So I just dropped a blob of superglue on it and sprayed it with an accelerator.  It’s stuck in a blob but it’s firmly attached to the base.
It may well not be worth it to build these for the game.  But it’s not in my constitution to leave two models sitting unbuilt out of the package.

Just some thoughts, I have fought a multiple dewback list, and the fascination with them may come from the fact that they have armour 1, as well as spur. The unit, like you said, hits like a truck on steroids in melee, and usually has a reliable way to get there. The issue is playing it so it doesn't get tabled before turn 3...

    Thank you Andy!
As you can see, I'm not very comfortable jumping off of canon.  I love Legion for a number of reasons, and very high on that list is making a miniature Star Wars universe. I have other games and painting projects that can be blank canvases, but Star Wars is sacred, and I want everything to look like it's part of that universe.
So, when I have to shift and do something purely creative with a Legion unit, I get very nervous. That Dewback wasn't a shift, that was a complete fabrication of reality,  (fictional, far far away, or otherwise, ) so I'm really thrilled to hear that it works
He's the paint scheme that was intended for the landspeeder, but I didn't have the guts follow through with.

I’ve been a bit AWOL from this site, but I have to say, your Dewbacks are incredible.  I especially love the blue one.  When you produce an alternate color you run the risk of having it both diverge from the Star Wars look and not come off as a well executed paint scheme, so it’s doubly risky.  But this absolutely nails both.  It’s fantastic.

BigBadAndy got a reaction from Rocmistro in Vehicle upgrades: WYSIWYG?
If you have two flamethrower ATRTs and they both have the flamethrower model attached you still need a way to know which one is damaged.  This is irrelevant to the discussion. (And don’t you put the damage tokens on the playing surface next to the mini anyway?)
As I said in my edit to the earlier post, I totally agree with your larger point.  It’s about making sure everyone can tell what’s going on.  But FFG put this in the rule book and it’s clearly not intended to mean the vehicles have to be WYSIWYG.  So what is it for?  Beats me, but I think the intention is clearly to prevent BS not force everyone to buy 9 ATRTS and 6 ATSTs if they like glued together models.
The rule book says you can’t “modify” a mini in a way that would confuse it’s identity.  I see a self evident difference between fielding an ATRT with the flame thrower attached and not using the flamethrower upgrade and chopping the DLT-19 off the DLT-19 stormtrooper and giving him an E-11.  If you don’t then don’t know what to say to you.
If someone drops an ATRT with a glued in flamethrower on the table and says “I  am actually using the laser cannon upgrade for this” I would be very hard pressed to imagine a judge saying his mini has been “modified” in a way that causes confusion whereas if a guy drops in a stormtrooper unit where the DLT trooper is missing his gun I have a very hard time imagining a judge ruling that it hasn’t been “modified” in a way that causes confusion.
Just as a side note - this is the kind of stuff that makes me NOT want to play in a tournament.  There’s always some guy wanting to manipulate the rules for advantage.  Obviously you shouldn’t be able to plonk down three ATRTs, each with a different gun and reassign them all.  But if someone is the type of person who is going to sit across the tournament table from a guy who glued the mortar to his ATST but wants to run a list without the mortar upgrade and argue that he has “modified” his mini to be confusing then they just... suck.

    DESTROYER DROIDS
I'm still not sure whether I think the rolling alts are worth building or not.  It's a nice gesture for FFG to have thoughtfully included them though!
That signature color gradient from copper to blue/purple made these perfect candidates for Color-shift paints.  Unfortunately, the nature of those paints makes them less than perfect subjects for photography.  Green Stuff World's "Nebulae Copper," is the perfect color.

And then I found these clear craft ornaments in the clearance bin of Michaels right after Christmas, and they looked like they might fit over a Destroyer Droid....

And they do - although the clear ball makes the Destroyers so big, which is going to have LOS ramifications.

Now that I know they will work as shields, I'm going to experiment with some colors.  The sphere needs something like that subtle blue energy grid, or else this just looks like a Droideka Ornament, so I'll see if I can airbrush it on.

There's not much to say about Dooku other than it's a really great sculpt.  The facial details are spot on, and the whole time I was painting him, it made me sad to think that Christopher Lee isn't around anymore.  Hats off to the Legion/FFG sculpting team, because they are really knocking it out of the park!
Some subtle OSL on his hands, cape and pants - and then a liberal application on the dirt

    DEWBACKS
The long wait might have given me a little too much time to overthink the color scheme.
Usually, I find some subtle way to differentiate one Legion unit from another on the table, but this time - I decided one of the Dewbacks should just be some other lizard completely.
Here's the standard Dewback with a dirty Sandtrooper mount:

The alt started out as a Blue Tree Monitor - but those have black markings against the blue gradient, which just don't show up very well.

So I went back to the drawing board and found this guy - the Parson's Chameleon:

So he ended up a hybrid.  And instead of a dirty, weathered Sandtrooper, he got a parade mount, with shiny new Stormtrooper armor. Not canon, but easy to tell them apart!

And with the 4 loadouts on 2 mounts, I had to magnetize everything..

I expect there will be a few vehicles at worlds, mostly AT-RTs, GAV tanks and AT-STs. As long as the new vehicles, I believe they will fit into those factions very well, so that could also see some play.
The reason I switched to tank was because the price and the utility of LTA+ Aggressive Tactics on the tank makes it a better option over the ST who does not synergize as well.
I am a firm believer in the theory that anything you want to be in the meta can be. If you like Veterans, run em. You want 3 Deathtroopers with Palpatine? run it.

People have always liked playing the AT-ST or tank around here, but yeah, some top tier players adjusted their list to include the AT-ST when Tauntauns became so prevalent. The Prime was won by our usual top player, playing Tauntauns, and 2nd was a bounty + AT-ST list lol
