Chewbacca is an obvious Rebel operative. I have also seen Hondo suggested. Some other characters I can think of from the "Rebels" show whose names escape me.

For Imperials, I suspect we might see more Bounty Hunters. Bossk, IG-88, Zuckuss and 4-Lom are the obvious choices.
It wouldn't surprise me if other non-combat characters can be dropped into this slot. R2-D2 with the ability to repair vehicles?

I don't think we will see Legend characters.

Took a crack at my AT-ST this past weekend - it isn't yet finished but I thought I'd show a progress photo. I plan to add some rush and corrosion, and then base it. However, my FLGS was having their first meet this past Sunday and I wanted to be able to play a list using my AT-ST.

Given that my store has started playing, its time to put a push on getting my units finished. Since the AT-ST is currently serviceable I'm switching to my two sets of Speeder Bikes. But for now, here is a WIP shot!

I'm very excited to be building towards my final army shot when I get this all done!

I see Han as an incredibly powerful commander once you get into Range 1-2. Play him like you would Fleet Troopers - move close to an objective, get behind light cover, and unleash. I don't think he will perform well as a Solo Commander - in my mind he is an excellent second Commander to either Luke or Leia. I think Luke or Leia can both work on their own, work with each other, or work with Han. I don't think Han will operate solo since he needs to get so close to the action to be impactful.

Thank you both, that's all great news. I haven't tried Zenithal Highlighting before, so maybe I'll give it a try for these bikes and see how it works. I was a little worried when he had done some gluing, but ultimately I wanted the extra Imperials. Happy to hear it'll be okay!

    Hey guys,

So I finally finished my first batch of Stormtroopers and thought I would share. I started painting miniatures about 3 months ago - basically in preparation for legion. I started with a single Imperial Assault Stormtrooper, which was pretty miserable. After that I painted about 5 or 6 Zombicide zombies. Outside of that, zero experience, although I have messed around with terrain painting as well.

Anyway, I'm building an Imperial Army I figured that over time I could post my work here. Maybe after long enough we'll see some improvement. I also have borderline OCD, so I'm spending a stupid amount of time on details that people likely can't see.

Anyway, here is my first squad of Stormtroopers. I'm debating if I should do the other troopers in the box, or move on to Speeder Bikes. I'm leaning towards Troopers, since I started to get into a rhythm with these guys and I expect that a 2nd round wouldn't take as long.

Criticism welcome. I mostly followed Sorastro's guide. I think I overdid it on the weathering and didn't like the colour I chose (going for a Sandy / Desert battle look) so I might switch that up next time.

    Personally, I disagree.

There is a video where Davis is being asked about Empire vs Rebels and he responds with something along the lines of "we are only releasing the two armies of the Galactic Civil War era. For now." There is tons and tons of content for other eras, Clone Wars in particular. They could release boatloads of units for Seperatist and Galactic Republic armies.

Also, what makes you think material won't be expanded? New stuff is being released all the time. There have been several comic series set during the Clone Wars. It's probably the most fleshed-out era of Star Wars thanks to the Clone Wars TV show. Also, with seemingly two different trilogies in the works, who knows what eras we will see.
As for Dark Side / Light Side, I'm of the opinion that those are for upgrade cards (as we've seen with Force Choke and Jedi Mind Trick). There are probably weapons, tactics, and force abilities that certain sides would not be willing to use to be unable to use. But they could span multiple eras (for example, doesn't matter if you are a Jedi of the Galactic Republic, or a Jedi fighting with the Resistance... you aren't ever going to use Force Choke). So identifying armies as "Dark Side" or "Light Side" adds another way to release upgrades multiple armies can use, but also restrict multiple armies from using.

Lastly, this is a war game. Most war games have several factions as options. I think FFG is going in that direction.

Anyway, this has been discussed a lot. And I'm not trying to shut down you perspective - its quite likely I'm wrong. But I do personally believe we will see more factions.

We really have no idea, but I 100% don't care about immersion. I'm looking to play an exciting game, and as other people have pointed out in this thread, eras going head to head allows my imagination to go crazy.

I think this is a war game first and foremost, and as such, it makes sense to have multiple collectable armies with their own characteristics. New players should have choice as to the playstyle and aesthetic they want. The more armies, the better.

So, I hope that as the tournament scene develops, there are no era restrictions. Makes tournaments very difficult. For Organized Play events and seasons? Sure, era specific is cool. But for tournaments? Come and bring your best. I'll bring mine. Let's duke it out!

    HH-12 isn't necessary here.

Double Veers ATST squads have been run quite a bit on TTS - I actually played one recently. I like building my ATSTs with Mortar and Grenade Launchers. I ran Veers, 2 ATSTs, and 4 Stormtrooper squads with DLTs. It works well, although you have to protect your thin Stormtrooper squads for objective based play. Since you opponent is very unlikely to destroy both ATSTs, if they are smart they will simply try to decimate your Stormtroopers to prevent you from playing objectives.

I had watched your first and second battle report. It was the first time I had been exposed to your content (likely because it is the first game of this sort that I have been exposed to.)

I thoroughly enjoyed the first. The second I definitely picked up on the consistent dice complaints, and while I watched the full thing, it pulled me out of the video during each complaint.

I was going to watch the third and see if that was common, or just a one-off. Happy to hear its uncharacteristic. Great post and a good point for everyone to acknowledge (since playing against super salty people is no fun, especially in a new game people are still figure out) but don't beat yourself up too much. I still learned quite a bit from the 2nd Battle Report.

I'm an Imperial player, but from what I've seen the scariest Rebels lists skip the airspeeder and run 6 groups of troopers and 3 AT-RTs, with Luke as a commander.

So that would be my recommendation. Pick up 1 more AT-RT and 2 Rebel Trooper expansions. That's a competitive list, and the  AT-RTs with laser canons could be able to pull down the AT-ST. If that's how your bro wants to play - ignoring the AT-ST and trying to slaughter your Troopers with Flamethrowing AT-RTs can be quite effective as well, and prevent you from winning because you can't take objectives!

Having JUST read the Davy email referenced here, the building example makes sense. You check LOS first to determine cover. So if the mini on top of the building can see the defending unit clearly (and likely would be able to see the unit's base due to height) then the drawn line doesn't even matter. You only draw the line if any part of the mini is obscured.

Second batch of Stormtroopers done - took me longer than I was hoping. I actually think these dudes are worse than the others. I can't for the life of me figure out how to create a smooth transition on the helmets - no matter how fast I move it seems that the paint can't be moved by water due to being such a thin layer. I'm using white scar... is that what's wrong? Still, happy to be done with these guys and feel that they look good when not super zoomed in.

I'm now debating between Vader and Bikes. I plan to get much more use out of Vader than the bikes, but I'm worried about painting him while still so mediocre at painting. Would hate to butcher such a cool model. Still, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and go for it. Thoughts on difficulty of Vader versus Bikes?

Was nervous about painting Vader, but I'm really happy with how he came out. He was my project this weekend. I now have my 350 point army if we play escalation league at my local store.

I avoided OSL and any lighting effects on the Helm since I didn't want to potentially ruin him. The picture isn't the greatest, but I tried blending and highlighting for the first time and it went way better than I expected. I might add some OSL in the future.

Next up? I'm thinking of diving into the ATST!
