Having read through the thread, some general thoughts:

I think both of these releases are pretty thematic. Excited to see them on the table.

I'm wondering if there is more to Transport: Open. Part of me thinks that the unit inside the transport will be able to activate in some capacity. Perhaps only one action, or perhaps only ranged attacks... I don't know. I feel that will be the tradeoff though. You take wounds if the heavy takes wounds, but you can also still utilize the unit. This could be the difference between Transport: Enclosed (assuming this releases eventually). Perhaps the transported unit won't take wounds, but also doesn't activate. Thinking about the most well-known enclosed Star Wars transport (The Separatist Multi-Troop Transport) I feel that this distinction could work. No reason Luke can't be firing out of the speeder if he is being carried up field, or Leia can't Inspire the troops from the passenger seat. In doing so though, they risk wounds.

In terms of balance, I still really don't buy into the idea that Empire is OP. We have had a lot of Rebel tournament winners. Rebel list-building seems to have so many more options, and Rebels activation advantage is a real thing. I also don't think this Imperial transport is that broken. Before upgrades, Imperials can take 2 of their Heavy before Imps can take one. With upgrades, I suspect the Rebels can take 2 fully kitted heavies for the price of one fully kitted ATST. The Imperials should, thematically have more powerful heavies. The Rebels, alternatively, have far more dangerous trooper units.

So, bumping this since I didn't post much of my stuff for the tail end of the year. However, I wanted to share my 2018 progress! I was pressed for painting time in the last three months of the year but I did complete Veers as well as my first set of Snowtroopers.

My full collection of painted 2018 minis is here. Note this is also my first ever end of year roundup, since this is my first year painting.

Here is an album with some highlights from this thread as well as closeups of the new additions.

Everything from 2018! On to 2019 - first order of business is my second set of Snowtrooeprs and Boba Fett. Then I have 2 squads of Scouts as well as one last set of Stormtroopers. A set of Royal Guards is soon going to be a purchase as well.

    Happy New Year!

If the Unit leader is the only mini the enemy can "see" when attacking, wounds can only be dealt to that specific mini.
If the Unit leader dies due to a situation like this, one of the remaining minis in the unit becomes the unit leader and replaces their model with the leaders.

Copes got a reaction from Alino in Why would I want to buy snow troopers?
The Flametrooper upgrade IS why you utilize Snowtroopers. They need some upgrading - a naked unit of Snowies is rarely, if ever, more valuable than a naked unit of Stormies. However, the Flametrooper is one of my favourite upgrades in the game on either side of the battle.

Snowtroopers are very often run bulky.

    Snowtrooper [48]
      + Flametrooper [20]
      + Snowtrooper [12]
      + Impact Grenade [5]
    TOTAL: 85 Points

That setup is an INCREDIBLE threat - if your enemy does not deal with you as you advance you roll a disgusting amount of black dice when you hit Range 1. Plus, you can do boatloads of damage to anything with the Impact grenades, meaning AT-RTs and AT-STs are just as afraid of you as units.

I like running 2 bulky Impact-Flamer squads in my force, whether I'm running Veers + ATST or Vader and Bikes. In both cases, the Snowtroopers present a threat that standard DLTs just don't. They have a very different use - advancing and threatening versus hanging back and picking - but they are very, very, practical.

Also note that a lot of people on TTS are seeing Emergency Stims as huge for Snowtroopers, allowing you one final breath to get that Flametrooper in close and annihilate a squad. Attaching Emergency Stims to the bulky group I posted above takes total cost to 93 and means you have upgraded every slot.

Hey man! I don't love the options you have at your disposal - I would suggest buying 1 extra Snowtrooper and trying to run this Vader list. You can replace the 2nd snowie with a Stormtrooper, but I think it will be less impactful. I was running this Vader list until recently when I switched to a Veers / Weiss list.

If you prefer, you could replace Force Push and have enough points to add some Blast grenades to your Stormtroopers, which is great for routing units in cover on objectives. Gives both your corps units Impact and Blast.

The above list isn't perfect, and is weaker with now than it was when I was running it due to new units that have come out. However, it's not awful!

For Imperials, Sniper Strike teams are very very good, but I think you need more than one of them. I run two, some people on TTS swear by 3. You also need to be smart with them - if you are against a Leia or a Veers you need to make sure they are out of LOS at deployment so that they can't be Bombarded / Maximum Firepowered. You then need to keep them back as far as you can, and use them mostly to make people think twice about moving through major channels on the board. Sniper Strike teams aren't going to wipe out full squads - they are there to pick off wounded units that need 1 or 2 more hits to go through, or to apply suppression and pick off a unit on a 4 or 5 man squad to soften them up. This is of course AFTER they have taken out the enemy's snipers. You need to make sure that your Snipers are the last snipers standing. There will likely be trading of sniper fire in the first round or two.

    They are good though.

No problem!  I might also make one more humble suggestion; if you haven't already glued him together you might want to dry fit the backpack to the body for the time being; it should fit snugly enough for gaming with but may be handy to remove when painting parts like the back of the cloak etc..

One of everything will stop for me soon. Not sure how much I will play with E-Webs, or Palp + RGs for that matter. I'll be picking up 2-3 Scouts + Boba but that might be it for me for a little while.

I also don't own any Rebels except Luke currently, so I guess I am already not buying one of everything...

Hey! First post in a long time. I was away for much of the summer and didn't do much painting or much playing. With September arriving I've managed to get back into things and actually finish my "Wave 0" army. I have other minis left to paint (another Stormtrooper group, 2 Snowtroopers, and Veers) but this is everything I had intended to paint upon release. I finished my last group of Stormtroopers, I finished the ATST I started on back in May, and I have my first army shot.

First, my new Stormies. I bought a new brush so some of the smaller details have come out cleaner (lines on the helmet, etc.) but overall they look much the same as the others.

After the Stormies, I also have what I think is the best model I've done to date (yes, better than my Vader!) My ATST looks sick and I can't wait to get it on the table (somehow I haven't played a RL game with it yet. Lots of Vader + Bikes). I'm really happy with how the weathering came out. I also made the larger boulder that you see on the base, as opposed to the small rocks I've added to other minis which are essentially pebbles from a hobby store specifically for terrain. Can you tell the difference between the fake rocks and the real rocks?

I'll end the post with my "Wave 00" army shot. I'll begin working on my Wave 01 stuff in a week or two. I'm thinking of playing a Weiss list at a local tournament the end of October, so I wonder if I can blast through 2 groups of Snowtroopers and Veers by then to ensure everything I want to play with is painted!

Hey, @Force Majeure I appreciate your interest.

I haven't been painting much over the past month because I've been incredibly busy with work, and real life. My AT-ST still isn't based. However, I can update with my first set of Speeder Bikes, which I finished about two weeks ago. I'm working on the second set right now, and then after that I'll be doing another Stormtrooper unit and two Snowtrooper units to finish out my competitive list that I play locally. A 4th group of Stormtroopers and Veers are also in the queue, and of course my AT-ST base and some wear-and-tear, but I want to finish the stuff that I'm utilizing on the table first.

First, here are the bikes I finished at the end of May:

And as an added boost of confidence, we had our first Organized Play event at the local store. While I didn't perform great in the Escalation event (went 1 and 3 ) I did walk away as a winner of something.

So that was awesome. Was against some really great models and really experienced painters too. So I'll take it!
