Um...compare a Blue Squadron Pilot to a Karthakk Pirate: For 2 points more the Scurrg gets: 2HP, missile slot, turret slot, 2 bomb slots, crew slot (or with title can get salvaged astro and system slot), and the scurrg has a much better dial. Sure the B has an extra torp, cannon, and +1PS, but that is, in no way, better than what you get with a Scurrg. A B-Wing isn't anywhere NEAR as cost efficient as a Scurrg. Like not even close, in some other galaxy, far, far away.

I've played with it pretty extensively. It's good, and even if you bid and get initiative, the other player can final salvo you- it just seems so much more balanced.

I agree wholeheartedly. Like the JM5K, the Scurrg is tremendously underpriced for what you get.

Yeah pilots like Whisper have to have it or they are immediately unplayable. My preferred fix would be to just cap PS at 9 for everyone. 9 would become the 'Ace Round', and you'd have to think out your bid a lot more than now.

What about just dropping Nym specifically down to PS 6? Keep the EPT for all the other non-Nym Scurrgs, but reign in his 'perfect knowledge' movement. That seems like it would bring him in line with your assertion that the Scurrg is garbage without an EPT.

That's a fair opinion, and you may be right. Turrets certainly do have every advantage over arc-bound ships.

I dunno, they're very similar high HP low agility, ordinance carriers. I think the comparison is fair, which is why the question is so important. Why does the Scum heavy bomber get an EPT when Rebels and Imperials do not? I just don't get how Brooks and Davy can be so blind as to not see how messed up this ship is. I agree with you on Miranda, we'll see how she survives once the ASlam changes come through. I think Nym would still be good at PS 8. He wouldn't be broken OMGAUTOINCLUDEINEVERYLIST, but he would still have his uses. He's still a very flexible platform with a VERY good pilot ability.

Honest question, considering that the Punisher and K-Wing don't have any pilots with EPTs. ...but more importantly is the follow up: If Nym didn't have an EPT, would he still see play?

I think Kestal is decent. Not amazing, but decent, kind of like Countdown (Striker), or Omega Leader (FO). She's a decent filler ship for other lists, especially if you know you are going to be hunting aces. My biggest complaint about her is her PS. At a 7 all the aces that you would want to hunt are going to out PS you and likely are going to avoid you (especially if you run Ion Cannon) as it's just not that hard to stay out of range 1-2 for most maneuverable aces. Yeah her ability is cool, if you get a shot. Also something to keep in mind- if she's out PS'd by aces, she's likely going to get focused- at least enough to force her to use her focus token defensively, which completely negates her usefulness as an ace hunter. The few times I've used/seen her used, she gets to use her ability maybe once during a game. It's why I give her a score of decent, instead of good/amazing.

Yeah I totally agree with that. I was a long time 40k player but got out because the balance was dog crap. I haven't gotten back into it, but MAN, did they fix things. If FFG wanted to they could fix X-Wing, 40k is proof.

They might as well go over to a totally digital system- and make a phone/pad app that has all the cards in it. Then they could do balance changes on the fly, push updates to the app. Then all they need to focus on is the ships in packs, which I would imagine reduces a lot of paper waste.

It's really amazing the change GW made- 8th Edition is incredible. X-Wing Devs just don't care- too busy pushing OP Scum crap to notice that the balance of their game went down the crapper. From the JM5K to the Scurrg- the devs have done nothing but ruin this game.
