    depends on the combat, if its a quick duel in the streets heck yes would take five frenetic seconds. But stuff like healing a buddy with a med check or hacking a door takes longer especially in a firefight. As a rule of thumb I always say that combat checks include multiple "attacks" within the action, a hit with a few damage may mean the smuggler had to fire off a few shots before grazing a hutt with his blaster pistol but a heavy damage attack may mean that the stormtrooper had to wait a few seconds before he could pump 2-3 shots into a PCs chest. I do this to accommodate the longer actions of hacking and healing.

    Heres my go, the station is home to a experimental A.I. (halo style) dating back to pre ep 1. It became sentient and the cliche kill all humans happened with a few survivors making it out. Over time the station has broken down so the AI cant just depressurize the station however it will try and interact with the PCs and trick them into repairing the station so it can murder. It will say another AI is wrestling with it for control and that it needs the repairs to overcome the other guy. The AI will do environmental horror stuff to the PCs in order to push them towards fixing the station.

    In order to make villains a threat they need to have ludicrous stats, i'm talking 35 health and adversary 3 crazy

    A round is subjective, it could take 5 seconds it could take 1 minute. It depends on the actions that are being taken place. Just because you shoot a guy doesn't mean it takes 5 seconds to score that hit, its called a fire fight for a reason. If players are taking too long to act, talk to them about it and see if they need help with the rules or something else. Implementing a time limit with stress em out and may cause some very unwise decisions that may earn the ire of their fellow PCs.

    I made them "donate" a good 3/4 of it to the rebellion for a automatic increase in CR. They also did a extensive upgrade for the entire crew and rehauled their new (stolen) Sentinel with legit IDs and mods. They saved a good 200,000 for a rainy day.

    In the current system, the most the players have taken out was a pair of Imperial customs vessels... and lost their prized transport in the process.  They've been wary of starships since. 🤔

    Not technically a kill, but they did manage to not have to fight a Jungle Rancor. I've told the story before, but it is so far my favorite story:
    On the planet Teth, they hike through the jungle to the airfield and hear the loud stomps of a huge Jungle Rancor heading right towards them. They all hide in various places, each trying to just let the thing pass, except for the wookiee. The wookiee stands tall, drops his blaster, and stares the monster down.
    As it grows near, he doesn't move. Everyone is horrified. He then, in a heroic act of defiance, draws a piece of meat? Okay, and he feeds it to the rancor, placating it slightly, but it's going to want more.
    And so, while it's distracted, the wookiee reaches for his.... data pad? Well, that's cool, but the rancor is still- "I would like to teach it Adobe Illustrator."
    He spends the next hour walking the Rancor, who is sitting down confused at this point, through how to use the basics of Illustrator. Time passes, and the thing finally gets up and wanders off.
    I did not go easy on him on the rolls, and he managed to pass seven different rolls with like four different skills, and had some advantage on some of them. It is a weird and wacky story, but it is my favorite.

    All nice ideas, thanks so far. 
    The station is definitely powered down, no atmosphere, no gravity, no AI, no defenses.
    I like the idea of making this a two part exploration, part one navigating through the dead station, trying to reactivate the power core, and part two getting control over the station, having a mad droid AI and defense systems against them. Especially if they have to take some ways, they already explored in part one, that are totally different now with power restored.
    The thing I struggle with is finding more ideas for "environmental encounters" in a completely dead station.
    Hm.. maybe it could be also an option to have some raiders appear halfway through the exploration, so they would have to fight off a rivaling group.. have to think about that

    Believe or not my PCs actually bought a ship for once! (of course this was after they stole 2.2 million credits worth of blaster rifles and sold em to a mercenary company because the big idiot of the Dm thought it would fine to let them raid a blast tech factory)

    You could play a religious character who has an outlook about flames being the "right" way for beings to die. Perhaps it is their species outlook, a bizarre death cult or something else. A Mustafarian would have a much different attitude to fire than say, a Mon Cal. With oxygen being completely alien to their upbringing, a Gand may have a different attitude to fire again.

    My father was a career soldier and of the many things that he taught me, the two things he hated the most stand out: land mines since he was a combat engineer responsible for disarming them and flamethrowers since just about any other way to die (shot, stabbed, blown up, suffocated, strangled) was preferable to being burned to death.

    Nonhuman is always the best way to go, and this is one of the best reasons to do so: They can have extremely radical personalities that are extremely different from “normal” human mindsets.
    A brutal Yevetha, for example, might not care about his victims at all. A “might makes right” Yinchorri might rationalize that if his victims didn’t want to die by burning alive, they should have better prepared to defend themself and therefore deserve their fate. A pragmatic Quarren might simply argue that it’s the best tool for the job.

    Over the course of a campaign, the gm will throw harder things at the PCs to try and balance it out. Of course this is ffg star wars so unexpected triumphs will happen. Whats the biggest thing your PCs or yourself have taken down. My groups biggest kill is sending a Imperial Light Cruiser hurtling toward a AT-ST factory.

    My biggest kill was back in D6. My character took out an ATAT with his lightsaber. He cut two of its ankles out from under it. "TIMBERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!"

    Ok fair enough. Well then if he (you) view it as a weapon of torture then he would have to either have a personality that embraces this or struggles with it. I can see embracing it being the easy way but may affect his relationships with others. If he struggles with it then he will probably have some emotional side effects of doing it. Like he may overly justify it. 
    Also his use of these weapons might demonstrate an underlying lack of confidence. This is a bit heavy in the psych realm but basically maybe he feels like he is afraid and uses these weapons to try and overcome his fear of defeat/death/etc.

    Its the fact that he would people burning alive that would be the issue. A blaster bolt can be a painful death but its not guaranteed. Death by flamethrower is gruesome and agonizing always.

    You could make him simply kind of hard and uncaring. Or you could go the other route and make it so that his use of these weapons is effective and he loves it but also has some tension because of it that manifests in a different way. 
    Also I don't know the situation but is this just a matter of the weapons being the best tool for the job? I mean dead is dead really. Whether you kill with an Icepick or a Blaster Bolt or a Plasma Blast.

    To fit this into existing Star Wars lore, all you have to do is have the AI be an integrated droid brain. It wasn't wiped, so it developed a personality and went crazy. The experimental part comes from the fact that it had more automatic control over the station, whereas most Star Wars stuff is very analog and manual.

    So I'm trying to make a blast character and I'm stuck on whether or not to make him a flamethrower build. Most explosive/flame characters are insane or not in the right frame of mind.  I'm trying to avoid because A. Its cliche and I dislike cliches and B. I believe there is some juicy rp with him grappling with the gruesomeness of his choice of trade and whether or not hes doing something fundamentally wrong. Because of my personnel stance of flamethrowers, i'm having trouble creating a character whose not insane and would use such weapons. Do ya'll have any ideas?
