That Acclamator's point job looks... sad. Maybe its the photo, but it looks like it has the same problem as some of the Wave 1 ships had, almost no wash. If it really comes like that in the box, im def gonna "upgrade" that ships pointjob.

@BigPoppaPalpatine i gotta say, i somewhat agree with @The Jabbawookies and @Cpt ObVuss perception of your position. I also think that this discussion has been surprisingly civil and insightful until the starting of personal insults, which did not really came from their side. You know, to me it too feels like every time someone makes a pretty long, well argued point that criticizes capitalism you immediately react with a rather short, and *facepalm*-like attitude as if we were just too dumb to understand what we are criticizing. Also, since most of our criticisms of capitalism are based on the advocation of the concepts of "empathy" and "fairness" and you almost never actually reply to those things but rather choose to respond to the technicalities of whats supposedly economically possible for a company, it just comes off across as if you have more interest in their wellbeing than in that of the employees. I'm not saying that you do actually have that position, but im trying to explain why it feels like it. Also, i do actually care about understanding your position and i do not want to just put blame on you without understanding the context of your arguements, so thats why im writing this. I would be glad if we could return to a peaceful und friendly discussion, since i enjoyed this threat and the insightful arguements many gave.

How does that fit into your "you have to work yourself to get somewhere"-logic? Didn't you then do nothing except been born in the right family?
-
But why? Every other western country has it and most rank much better than the US
-
No i did NOT argue for all those things you mention. You are deliberately misunderstanding me to suit your world view. I was saying, humans are inherently social beings and thus the whole capitalistic lie of "everyone is just out for himself" ("There is not society", like Margaret Thatcher said...) is just complete BS. Ofc humans have empathy, thats exactly why capitalism tries to hide all its atrocious aspects from the public because they knew it would motivate people for a change.

We live in herds though. Not physically anymore obviously, since many of us live in cities with up to millions of indivuals and humans historically are only really suited for herds up to about 150 beings (after that it gets hard for society to just be organized through personal bonds). But our friends and aquitances pretty much make up our modern herd that we choose to live in. There a 2 kinds of animals, those who live alone (mostly predators lol) and herd animals. I just meant that we definately fall in the second category and not the first.
-
Actually, it‘s the other way around. Capitalism is inherently selfish, so for the system to be legitimized sympathy must be declared a myth. Which is ridiculous, since humans even just from a biological standpoint are totally dependant on social interactions, we are literally herd animals.

Because the ISD (and also Venator for that matter) were specifically seen on screen/mentioned in canon of being capable of chasing down blockade runners.

Saying those things are socialist ideas is kinda wrong but your point still stands. Also, we all DO pay for fire-department, police, military, etc. It's just a flat rate collected through taxes. There is not reason at all why healthcare for example couldnt be handled like that as well. Fun little fiction as a sidenote: Can you imagine what it would be like if there were different private police and fire department contractors? Can you imagine anyone defending that with the same arguments that are commonly used against "socialized medicine"? "It's better if i can choose the police department that i like the most" - "That's NOT freedom if i can not choose from multiple expensive-as-**** fire departments that charge me even before they see the fire!" - "Government-run police? That's Socialism!!!" - "You just want to take away everyone's right to choose their individual custom amount of police brutality!" - "Why should I pay through my taxes for the fire department to put out YOUR fire? That's your own problem!" It's ridiculous how people dont realize that they are basically argueing for pure social darwinism/arnarchy and the abolition of civilization with these kind of arguements but they still bring them forth because against EVIL sOcIaLisM i guess every argument is legit or whatever.

You dont have to though. Just dont follow this "Lay offs"-threat. And let others enjoy a political discussion if they want to have one.
-
I'm gonna assume that is irony

But they ARE capitalist. They do not have democratic ownership of the means of production. They have free markets (though stronger regulated then other countries), they have private ownership, etc. They are definately capitalist countries. Do not confuse social democracy with socialism please. These countries fall under the "Social Democratic"-Welfare State model, one out of the three models (or four, if you wanna count the southern european one too) of Welfare States: Liberal (USA for example), Conservative (UK, Germany) and Social Democratic (Skandinavian Countries). The southern european model puts a bigger focus on the family, like in Italy and Greece. I had to study this back in my social work studies. Esping-Andersen (among many others) wrote extensively about it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Three_Worlds_of_Welfare_Capitalism

What is "the" alternative? Since you seem to be so sure of a specific one
-
Yeah i was aware of the historical origins of social democracy. (Im german and it was bismarck after all who invented insurances as a "payoff" to the public wanting socialism). You are absolutely right with everything you said.

What weird thing do YOU want in armada 1.5?
>kkj replied to phoenix7000's topic in Star Wars: Armada
Personally, i would like to see digital costs for everything. And before you complain, they could STILL release a PDF with all the current costs that you can print if you want to have all the necessary game components in a physical form. I just think it's way more elegant and easier to adjust the game balance when you don't have to constantly errata stuff or release new upgrades that specifically boost old releases. -
What shocks me the most, is that many americans dont even seem to KNOW the concept of social democracy. They think its just some sort of fancy name for socialism. When in reality its a mix of capitalistic free markets and social programs inspired by socialist ideas.

I'm pretty sure most here know how businesses work. Its the means they apply to operate efficiently that are problematic/unethical in this case. It's not like they would suddenly go bankrupt by treating their employees slightly better.

and some anger... and hatred and suffering...

Those ARC 170s look fantastic. Already my favourite Republic Squadron. Regarding using them in conjunction with Hyperspace Rings, thematically that should probably be read as: "You know, we DO have a hyperdrive on board right? How about we actually use it to move our slow-*** heavy fighter a little closer to the action instead of limping all the way towards the battlezone for 3 hours?" - "Oh yeah good call. Would have been really embarassing if we would arive after the battle is over haha, right?" - "Yeah like all those last times a certain SOMEONE forgot to equip his fleet with a certain upgrade..." - "Sorry, what do you mean?" - "Nevermind"
-
Did you know that it's possible to criticize the bad aspects of capitalism without immediately advocating full socialism/communism?
-
To be fair, the AFII and VSD have been underpowered/overcosted compared to the other Galactic Civil War Releases since a long time, so this is not really a new clone wars-specific kind of powercreep.

Between Swivel-Mount Batteries and Hyperwave Signal Boost i feel like the bigger card size might actually be a positive change, if it means we can get more complex (and thus more text-requiring) card effects...
-
Keep in mind that they could always ADD a new effect to the existing evade effect. Like "While defending as a squadron against a enemy squadron you may force the attacker to reroll one die." I dont think its likely but its an option. If such a new Evade token were to more and more replace some defense tokens on Aces, it would also make the defense tokens of squadrons more interesting that just "negate all damage" and "negate half damage"...

I think Snipe wants to have a word with you. Distance 2 is about a milimeter longer than short range
