Yes it would cost more same as if you have a warrior who buys into a consular spec.

Is it possible to take? Sure. I personally would have them learn it from something or someone that would be likely to know it. If they met an elderly jedi from the era before or found some holocron detailing the basis of jedi training. Whatever you want to think of. I wouldn't simply allow them to buy it outright though personally.

I use morality a little different and rarely "warn" my players of anything. I expect them to play out what their characters would do and reward/add consequences appropriately and the rolls come into play somewhat....but whilst I put challenges in the way and some set pieces I try to mask them and not make them obvious.
One of the things I hate about SWTOR and as i've gotten older Is one of the few detraction from the first KOTOR game is how at certain points its quite obvious where the line is.

Kill the kids anakin! They -might- grow up to be dangerous..Don't kill the kids anakin! They're kids.

Maybe that's a GM style thing but one of the triumphs of KOTOR2 is how it talks about the fall being subtle and difficult to resist if you're not careful even if you believe you're doing the right thing. I like the reveal and silent messages to players where they realise that what they've done might well have been the sensible option but not the right one. I often feel like as GM it;s my job to blur that line not lay it out for them.

The morality in RAW feels too easy to "Sleepwalk to Paragon" as mentioned and I prefer this. It should be very difficult to maintain that balance even when doing the right things and even harder as you form attachments and the like.

I like this Golem and I showed it to my group, some 10 strong, and it was something that once they read and felt was a good idea or at least something that with some amendments would be worthwhile.

Farsight: Mastery...does that mean if i'm viewing something from range I zoom into it?

Bind: Duration does this mean that i continue to do the damage per turn? Or would I re-roll each turn?

You're approaching it from a metagame standpoint. To you, the kyber crystal isn't reaching its full potential; whereas according to the narrative, your crystal has reached its full potential in that respect (on a failed check to apply a mod).
It's like any other failed check. There are real consequences for failing, but you keep on going because the failures are part of your character's story.

What does "permanent" mean to you? You might have to quest to find another crystal?
It might be inconvenient in the short term, but opportunities for adventure are a good thing, right?

You have the mechanics of modifications correct.  However, fret not!  I come bearing a house rule that may save you!
Instead of INCREASING the difficulty for each mod, I UPGRADE the difficulty, and make it so that you require a Despair to eliminate a mod from your attachment  (crystal or otherwise).
I like this better, as it still makes it hard to get all your modifications, but it's not Impossible (literally; using the normal rules, even on your own personal saber, those last two mods would have an Impossible difficulty to install).

The delay isn't what concerns me so much as the complete and utter radio silence from FFG about this. I now have a campaign ready to start on the 5th that is solely waiting on this book. When I originally scheduled that as the start date for the campaign I thought it was so laughably far out from the release of the book that there'd be no way it could get delayed. Now it's looking very likely.
