  1. Finn will still be good, he's just not going to be so broken. With the immediate-Strain-removal, a lot of times my opponents just wouldn't shoot at him as they knew it would be too hard to do damage even with focused fire. Now I suspect that he will be a target earlier as he'll burn down easier. I'll probably fly him a bit more conservatively so he's not in so many arcs. I had a game 2 weeks ago against a Rebel alpha strike list where it took 3 Proton Torps in the same turn to kill Finn. He's not going to shrug that off anymore. But with Heroic & PerCop he can still absorb a couple shots in the same turn (depending on the strength of the attack, of course) by taking a second Strain to add a Focus after rolling 1 Green after the first attack. Until they raise his point cost in the next adjustment (and they will) I think he'll still see plenty of table time. @GreenDragoon and @RStan curious to get your thoughts as well.
  2. It’s late so just a quick update. Myself and 2 others running Cova/Finn/Jess/Bastian at 62 person Hyperspace Trial in Seattle today. 2 of us finished 5-1 in the top 8 and made the cut. (4 Resistance lists made the top 8.) I lost my top 8 to Anakin/Ric/2 torrents, the other guy went to the final table and lost to a buddy of mine running Guri/Fenn. This list has legs and is fun to fly, definitely recommend it. I need to figure out how to beat Jedi with it though...
  3. I'm an expert? Wow, we're all in trouble! I've been running that list off and on the last few weeks (but with Crack Shot on Cova instead of Heroic). We've got a local Hyperspace Trial on the 14th where I will probably run this. It's fun to fly and can hit very hard. Cova's ability to do a Leia-fueled white stop/reverse and then throw 4 dice with a focus at R1 is very good. She's essentially unblockable and surprises people more than you'd think. I think it's a little better against dodgy aces than the XXXpod version and jousts just about as well. As you mentioned, Leia has a lot to (potentially) do in this list but you have to resist the urge. Probably 90% of the time you should use Leia on Cova and pretend she doesn't exist for the rest of the ships. Usually there's 1 time where you're willing to trade off the buffed Cova to help another ship. One of the keys to making the list work is knowing when to do that. I've also tried it with Snap & Greer instead of Jess & Bastian. I like the XX version better than the XA version based on how I fly.
  4. According to FFG Tournament Regulations (here), Hyperspace Trials are Formal Tier events. From the doc: "For Relaxed and Formal events, all product is legal in North America upon the product's official release." So assuming they actually release on September 13th, Wave 5 is legal for Hyperspace Trials that weekend.
  5. I'm not able to add Resistance Leia. Has she been added yet?
  6. Yes, thanks that was Andrew not Farmer. I fixed it. Still brain dead while writing that after playing 7 rounds I guess.
  7. I’m going to try to keep this brief. I flew the Advanced Optics/PerCop version in 1a heat at GenCon yesterday. I can confirm @GreenDragoon‘s points about watching out for double reposition aces and moving first. If you face other I2s, you want to take First Player! I started 4-0, only to drop the last 3 and finish 4-3. Good enough for 35th (of 119). Congrats on the great finish @RStan! R1: 200-97 win vs Fenn, Torkil, 2 Goons with Ion Cannons. R2: 200-103 win vs RAC and 2 cannon Rhos R3: 200-97 win vs Dutch, Ten, 2 Gray double-tap Ions R4: 44-24 win vs Anakin & ObiWan **Such a hard game. He got half of Bastian and I just had so few quality shots. Late in the game I got Anakin shields down and out of regen. Last turn, Finn does a desperate 3K and ends up with a range 3 shot on Force-less Ani. I roll blank-crit, he rolls blank-blank-focus and the crit lands. Crazy end. R5: 79-200 loss vs Ric, Sinker and 4 Torrents. (Andrew Nuckols) **Here’s where I learned my lesson about moving first. I had the 1 point bid and gave him First Player. Second round of shooting he forces 3 bumps and it’s lights out. Not sure I would have won if I’d moved first but sure would have done a lot better. R6: 62-200 (I think) loss vs Ric, ObiWan, Anakin (Carson Wray) R7: 76-200 loss vs Kylo, Scorch, 2 Zeta (Chris Allen for the podcaster trifecta) **Killed things that didn’t matter, then didn’t have enough guns left to take on Kylo.
  8. Nice write up! Thanks especially for your thoughts on set up. I ran the M9-G8/C3PO version in 2 games today. Both close losses. Very good combo and gives Finn plenty of options. But not sure it’s better than the AO/PerCop version. I’m packing both for GenCon.
  9. I got 4 games in with this last night using the C3PO version of Finn, 1 before the tournament and 3 during it. Next up on XXXx journey is trying the M9G8 version. TLDR: 3-1 overall, 3-0 and 2nd place in the tourney. Fun to fly and effective jouster. Opponents: 1) RAC/Whisper (lost this one), 2) Rey/Poe, 3) Anakin/Ric/104th Battalion/Gold Squadron Trooper, 4) Serissu/Quinn Jast/Overseer Yushyn/Foreman Proach/2 Cartel Spacers C3PO Finn is very flexible. I rarely used the Coordinate but it was a situational consideration throughout. Double Calculate is so good. Don't forget your Jamming Beams! Against a Reinforced RAC it came in handy. Mistake I made at first was having the AutoBlasters on Snap when he should have been the one stripping the Reinforce. Fixed that for the rest of the games. I still think AutoBlasters is worth the 2 points on a T70, but it was only a factor in 1 game. PreTourney: RAC and Whisper. Toughest game and only loss. Got RAC down to 1-2 hull but couldn't finish him off before he started running with that 4 straight. By that time I didn't have enough guns left to handle Whisper. I started with AutoBlasters on Snap which quickly proved the wrong decision. You really want Bastian to have it to take the most advantage of the potential big shot late in the turn. Tourney Game 1: Rey/Poe. Rey can't out-joust these 4, and combined with aggressive Poe play that left him vulnerable this one was over fast. It also featured perhaps the biggest dice variance (in my favor) that I've ever had. I felt bad for my opponent, who to his credit took it all in good stride. Tourney Game 2: Anakin/Ric/104th Battalion/Gold Squadron Trooper. I struggled with Finn's effectiveness against an all-aces list earlier in the week, but with a more mixed list like this it wasn't an issue. Finn using his ability to take 2 shields off Anakin early forced him to disengage for 3 turns while I hammered the rest. Crucial turn was opponent guessing wrong on which way I would go, resulting in Ric bumping in place that gave me 2 modded shot into him. No more Ricky Bobby. Tourney Game 3: Serissu/Quinn Jast/Overseer Yushyn/Foreman Proach/2 Cartel Spacers. The double tractors had me worried, so I kept the rocks spread out and slow rolled to get the engagement in an open area. Lesson here is don't head on joust against XXXx as it won't go well for you. I was basically deleting a ship each of the first 4 turns of engagement and he wasn't. Lieutenant Bastian (48) BB Astromech (2) Integrated S-Foils (0) Autoblasters (2) Ship total: 52 Half Points: 26 Threshold: 4 Jessika Pava (51) R5 Astromech (4) Integrated S-Foils (0) Jamming Beam (0) Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 4 Temmin Wexley (54) Composure (1) Integrated S-Foils (0) Jamming Beam (0) Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 4 Finn (29) Heroic (1) C-3PO (Resistance) (6) Ship total: 36 Half Points: 18 Threshold: 2 Total: 198
  10. I tried Finn with Heroic/Optics/PerCop last night with Snap/Jess/Bastian. The match was against Anakin/Mace/Ric. All speedy ships with repositioning, flown by an opponent that knows how to arc dodge. Getting good shots was going to be hard no matter what. For Finn it proved to be very difficult with his more limited dial. It felt like a very offensive build and getting value out of him required keeping guns on without stress. It was awesome to take a R3 shot, roll hit/focus, add a blank result and then spend the 2 Focus tokens for 3 hits. But it just didn't happen often enough against these squirrely aces. Given the flood of Jedi in the meta right now, I'm concerned that this Finn load can't contribute consistently enough. I'm going to try the C3PO version tonight in a little 3 round tourney at the FLGS and see how flying him less aggressively to take advantage of the coordinate works. Anyone have an experience/advice flying SJBF against aces?
  11. I’ve been experimenting with Finn + 3 T70s and it feels like there’s something here. I’m probably taking some variant of this to GenCon. I’ve been keeping Finn cheap (either just Heroic or Heroic + C3PO). I like him better with C3PO for the calculate option on key turns, but you have to be careful since Finn without a Focus is quickly a dead Finn. You can fit him with 3 Black Squadron Aces and have points left for astros or other toys on the T70s. That coordinate to get an important double mod can be very good. I’ve been planning to try the Snap/Jess/Bastian combo with him but haven’t put it on the table yet, glad to see others are theorycrafting in the same direction. I really like the idea of Advanced Optics suggested by @GreenDragoon and will give it a try. That makes Finn a monster and may well be worth giving up the upgrades on the T70s.
  12. I've tried Nodin a few times, both with Leia and Korr. It was okay. I'm starting to think that a beefier Cova might be the way to go, but I haven't put this on the table yet. 13. Loved flying 1.0 Dash, and I wish the YT-2400 were playable competitively in 2.0. (I don't think it is.) But if the goal is just to put together something that includes a YT-2400 and can win a casual game, that's quite do-able. Cassian, Braylen and Leia are good enough to carry the Fringer, and you get 6 points to season to taste. 14. I got 1 game in over the weekend with Leia on Rey (Nien & Lulo as wingmates). Similar experience to yours, seriously impressed with the Rey+Leia combo. As you call out Force management is key. Got in 3 games with Nodin/Nien/Tallie/Lulo at the FGLS. 2-1, Transport only died in the game I lost and was surprisingly able to hold its own when the shooting started. My initial reaction is that she's worth the 19 points in the right list. Really excited for all the new possibilities Resistance has after this update!
  15. Korr on Rey is a cool idea, thanks for sharing. Going with a bit slimmer Rey to invest in wingmates, this could be fun: Rey (73) Korr Sella (6) Rey's Millennium Falcon (5) Ship total: 84 Half Points: 42 Threshold: 6 Nien Nunb (55) Heroic (1) Integrated S-Foils (0) Black One (2) Ship total: 58 Half Points: 29 Threshold: 4 Temmin Wexley (54) Composure (1) Integrated S-Foils (0) Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 4 Total: 197 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Resistance&d=v7!s=200!244:,,245,,,,,193;298:172,,,175,,171,;297:115,,,175,,,&sn=Rey Nien Snap&obs=
  16. 7 point drop for Rey. Sure she's not as good as in 1.0, but at this price I'm thinking she can work. Give me your best Rey list suggestions! Here's my initial thought, will probably take this for a test run at the FLGS tomorrow night. Rey (73) Leia Organa (Resistance) (19) Rey's Millennium Falcon (5) Ship total: 97 Half Points: 49 Threshold: 6 Nien Nunb (55) Integrated S-Foils (0) Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 4 L'ulo L'ampar (43) Heroic (1) Crack Shot (1) Ship total: 45 Half Points: 23 Threshold: 2 Total: 197 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Resistance&d=v7!s=200!244:,,244,,,,,193:;298:,,,175,,,:;239:172,116,,:&sn=Rey Bastian Jess&obs=
  17. This. I played against a Torkil list at the FLGS last night, and my Kavil (I5) shot last every turn until he was eventually PS-killed by an I2. Super irritating to play against and really increases the effectiveness of your generics.
  18. Interesting idea. If it survives the point changes (I'm looking at you Wedge) it would be worth putting on the table to try out.
  19. Several people at my FLGS have been flying this the last couple weeks, and I can tell you that it hits very hard. Probably better than the DreadLoks at this point, and less like to be nerfed by points changes in a couple weeks.
  20. I've had pretty good results with this. It's fun to fly and a solid performer, but I don't think it's top tier. 4-LOM (49) Advanced Sensors (10) 0-0-0 (5) Mist Hunter (2) Ship total: 66 Half Points: 33 Threshold: 5 Lok Revenant (43) Ion Cannon Turret (4) Veteran Turret Gunner (6) Ship total: 53 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 5 Lok Revenant (43) Ion Cannon Turret (4) Veteran Turret Gunner (6) Ship total: 53 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 5 L3-37 (Escape Craft) (26) Tactical Officer (2) Ship total: 28 Half Points: 14 Threshold: 2 Total: 200 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Scum and Villainy&d=v6!s=200!109:,111,63,,,155:U.-1;146:138,,90,,,,:;146:138,,90,,,,:;95:,61,:&sn=4LOM 2Lok L3&obs=
  21. This. Both are effective without AS, better to use those points elsewhere.
  22. I've flown it a few times, and I'm a believer in Heroic. It will trigger at least once on a A's Red or X's Green dice in my experience. You are correct that it is very unlikely on a 3 dice roll.
  23. I've been running this 4-LOM recently, and it is super fun to fly and very effective.
  24. I haven't put this on the table yet, but have a slightly different take on Anakin that I want to try. 7B to hit harder, Fined-Tuned Controls + his ability + R4-P17 + Afterburners gives you insane action economy and flexibility regardless of the situation. For the ARCs, combo the 7th Fleet Gunner and R2 as suggested. Anakin Skywalker (60) R4-P17 (5) Delta-7B (18) Afterburners (6) Ship total: 89 Half Points: 45 Threshold: 3 104th Battalion Pilot (42) Seventh Fleet Gunner (9) R2 Astromech (4) Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 5 104th Battalion Pilot (42) Seventh Fleet Gunner (9) R2 Astromech (4) Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 5 Total: 199 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Galactic Republic&d=v6!s=200!273:,214,201,105:;341:,,227,2,:;341:,,227,2,:&sn=Anakin 2BP&obs=
  25. I've only got 3 games in with Torrents so far...and the dial is the biggest drawback. That 3 bank being red is a killer. So far I've been underwhelmed by the Torrent, but part of that is certainly figuring out how to best use them.
