I believe the benefits of a centralised military are many. We may want peace, but it’s better to have a big stick if you need one, than want one and not have it.

Having helped LTD’s father in the Clone Wars (or so he tells me!) I’ll step up.
Not sure I really understand how this will work, but hey, new game, new rules. The online equivalent of ‘oooh, shiney!’

RedDogReb got a reaction from Bertie Wooster in My Imperial MSU, with Romodi
I’d tried Romodi in a couple of games recently and was unable to get an obstructed shot, so was rather underwhelmed with him.
So, I built this MSU list to try to get their own obstructions, rather than relying on asteroids etc.
    Arquitens Command Cruiser
    General Romodi
    Captain Needa
    Auxilliary Shield Team
    ECM
    TRC
    Hand of Justice
    Arquitens CC
    Intel Officer
    Aux Shield Team
    ECM
    LTT
    GSD1
    Capt Brunson
    Ord Experts
    Aux Shields Team
    Ex Racks
    GSD1
    Iden Versio
    Ord Experts
    Aux Shield Team
    Ex racks
    GSD1
    Lira Wessex
    Ord Experts
    Aux Shield Team
    Ex Racks
    Objectives:
    Assault: Opening Salvo
    Defence: Planetary Ion Cannon
    Navigation: Minefields
    Total 396
Deployment is the three GSDs facing one of the short table edges (ie flying parallel to the long table edge) but deployed as far forward as possible. The two kittens are deployed closer to the board edge, with their shots being obstructed by the GSDs.
This deployment also means that to get to the kittens, my oppo has to get past the GSDs first.
I played this recently, against a rebel MSU controlled by my son (20), who I feel is a good player. His list was 2 x MC30, 3xTRC-90, 2xGozanti. I was second player, he chose my Opening Salvo.
While I got lucky with a couple of dice rolls (3 natural hit/crits and no misses on 6 black dice, and 3 natural double hits on 3 red dice), I got 10-1 win.
I did get a few obstructed shots, so happier with Romodi  now.
Would like to know what you think of the list, and what changes you would make.
    Thanks.

    Neither, technically 🙂

wheg you have the special weapon arc, you gain the ignition keyword and it’s associated stuff.  This includes ignition: close.
You can ONLY place a targeting token at the range specified.
The weapons add other bands it can Be used in. But they refer to only that band.
adding another doesn’t remove the original.
So if you have ignition Long on your weapon, you could fire at Long or Close, but not medium... it doesn’t grant the in between.

if you have ignition medium, you can shoot it (Place tokeb) at medium or close , but not long.

Without a weapon , you can still use the arc and dice at close.

Yes, they are just as good as other factions and probably the easiest to play. Their units are relatively straightforward and probably better for beginners.

If by running based on the OT you mean only using units that appeared in the films then you should be largely fine, you will be missing out on a few nice units like Shoretroopers and Krennic that bring new things to the table but it's definitely viable and you won't really be seriously hampering yourself.
As for list builders, The Tabletop Admiral website is a great option which is easy to use and let's you see the cards which is handy. I also use Battlescribe on my phone which is also great but can be a bit fiddly to set up.

Heavy Turbolaser turrets on your big ship deny your opponent use of the salvo if they want to redirect.

My son took a Starhawk to a local 3 round tournament. He won by some margin, with Wins  of 9-2, 9-2 and 10-1.
I’ve just played him, using Imperials (Kuat, Screed, Demo, Insidious and 2xcomms net Gozanti). Got my backside handed to me 9-2!

I tried this in my last game but with 4 vanilla x-wings instead of 3.  My opponent killed one of them and by turn 6 the survivors all had 1HP left, and my opponent was gnashing his teeth in frustration.  It's a really annoying combo to be on the wrong end of.

I used an Ackbar list with some success against Sloane. I ran an AFMKII with Gallant Heaven (maybe with Draven as well), 2 MC30s with TRC and Cluster Bombs, a GR-75 with Toryn and a few A wings plus the Moldy Crow.  (plus other upgrades not related to AA). I played defensively utilizing counter with rerolls and a ton of dmg mitigating. Sure they focused Jan but they usually needed 4 attacks against her, because of the braces and Gallant Haven. They usually didnt touch the mc30s, cluster bombs on average one shot a 3 hull squadron, which seems scary. It is some kind of psychological warfare.

Sloane's biggest weakness is the ships in the list. There are usually 2, an ISD and a Quasar. The best bet is to go hard and fast at the Quasar using a few of your squads to tie up theirs long enough for your ships to get the job done. I've seen variations with Gozantis and an ISD, in which case go hard on the ISD.

Trying to win a squadron battle vs Sloane is a lost cause.

Avoid playing the squadron game at all against Sloane unless you’re fully committed to triple tap Ten Numb, or 8 YT-2400s, or the like.
Otherwise, kill the carriers.  Slicer Tools flotillas are normally good distractions they need to commit fighters to killing.  CR90As can rip up a Quasar, MC30s are fast and durable enough to threaten ISDs too.  If you’re using large bases Walex gets that brace back on a key round, Agate will probably help too since she goes through Avenger.  Ackbar or Raddus both go the other direction and improve damage into the carriers.  Right now, I narrowly prefer Rieekan because he forces Sloane to trade blows, and she has a glass jaw in the ship department (fitting given she boxed in the lore.)

For rebels I suggest a list that's survivable but also emphasizes early, decisive victories. This is my go to anti-two ship list:

    Name: Untitled Fleet
    Faction: Rebel
    Commander: General Dodonna
    Assault: Precision Strike
    Defense: Hyperspace Assault
    Navigation: Superior Positions
    MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100)
    • General Dodonna (20)
    • Intel Officer (7)
    • Ordnance Experts (4)
    • Electronic Countermeasures (7)
    • Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
    • Aspiration (3)
    = 146 Points
    MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
    • Lando Calrissian (4)
    • Ordnance Experts (4)
    • Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
    • Admonition (8)
    = 84 Points
    MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
    • Major Derlin (7)
    • Ordnance Experts (4)
    • Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
    • Foresight (8)
    = 87 Points
    GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
    • Comms Net (2)
    = 20 Points
    GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
    • Repair Crews (4)
    = 22 Points
    Squadrons:
    • Tycho Celchu (16)
    • Shara Bey (17)
    = 33 Points
    Total Points: 392

I’m mainly an imperial played but starting to dabble into rebels. Now rebels have the best generic fighters in the game. Especially x-wings and a-wings. I would load up on both types along with a couple of hawks for Intel. Sloane can’t hurt generics. I would run these as a CAP (close air patrol), don’t be too aggressive. But use them as a counter and keep them close to the ships.

Others may shoot me down, but my view (and I'm not an experienced player) is that I'd make the following changes:
    Change Vader to Screed
Change Expanded Launchers to APTs/ACMs (or at least Ex racks)
Add Ordnance Experts to the Demo.
Those changes will give you another 14 points is APTs or 12 points is ACMs.
Screed will give you guaranteed Crits to trigger those cards. OE on Demo might seem like over kill, but as sure as eggs is eggs, the one time you want that Crit, you don't get it, even with re-rolls.
My favourite list (Kuat, Demo, Insidious, 2 Gozantis) has needed Screed where even with re-rolls, I've not got the crit.
    Hope it helps.

This is my personal view, from my limited (but slightly successful ) uses of Kuat/Demo/Raider/Gozanti.
Kuat, remove HB, RBD and expanded launchers, put in Ord Exp, ECM, Avenger and ACM. I personally like to put QLT on my Kuat for extra anti-Squadron but that adds 5 points onto your build.
GSD, you need to put on Ord Experts. To save points, you could take off Int Officer.
Raider change ACM to External Racks
Gozanti remove Admiral Chiraneau and boosted comms and put on Comns Net
I think the math is 12 extra points if you include  minus 4 for Demo Ord Experts.
Amended to say what reddogreb said about Screed!

So, we played our second round of RiTR campaign at my local club.
I had 2 Decimators in my fleet.
Ideal opportunity presents itself. I can move both and shoot the side of my oppos flagship nebulon.
First one, two crits and an accuracy. Not bomber so no damage.
    Second one, something similar.
    6 blue dice. No hits.
    WTF???

Dual turbolaser turrets are going to serve the 2nd arquitens better. (It's a stronger upgrade unless you are flat out terrified of squadrons, and unlike the cymoon the arq doesn't have to worry about something else hogging the mod slot)
The strength of the linked turbolaser towers is that they don't eat up your mod slot, other than that they're (mostly) slightly worse than good ol' Dtt's.
I also might switch the spinal armament for xi7's (but that's more my personal preference).
Also, those arquitens might disintegrate under opening salvo; my experience of playing arq's with this objective is that they just can't take the extra heat. Your mileage may vary, but I'm not sure how well that objective will work for you

That's the only holes I can spot, you may identify some concerns after a couple of games, but I can't see anything else I'd tinker with before playing a few games with it.
