After all, no one actually wants to fly x-wings or tie fighters.  Or a-wings or b-wings, or...oh wait.  They'll never do a full rotation simply due to taking out the most iconic ships from even being legal to play, unless they rerelease those ships completely in new packs to keep them around.  And then we're getting less new stuff.

Pokemon TCG did this. They have a rotation but will re-release iconic cards every time they become illegal so they're back in the game. Use this opportunity to update/balance them so they can be adapted to how game is evolving.

Very true, but only idiot would run him into the front of the Swarm.    Good players never do that, and his dial and barrel roll after let him re-position so well it's not an easy as every thinks.    I like the ion thing, thinking about taking a zeta specialist with Ion missiles.

There's no way he can fit in-betwen the swarm rows if it's still in fomation. Could be devastating if he lands behind the entire thing though @_@

    Then again, I'm just theorycrafting.

    As noted, break formation.

I always had to do this with a Youngster swarm against Dash Rendar or Miranda Doni.

Howlrunners reroll is awesome, but not at the expense of the entire formation eating a bomb, or putting your entire force in one spot that nym can avoid until dengar has softened you up.

Break into 3x2 or even 2x3 groups and run a "dragnet" rather than a block - nym's not so fast that he can avoid two groups of TIE fighters coming from opposite directions.

If he bumps then "Genius" a bomb, it only reaches 0.5 ship bases in front of Nym. The first row of 2-3 TIEs at best. Sometimes just the one it's bumped against. Only way it's gonna hit a lot if it it somehow drops it in the center of the swarm.

  4. How is it a main counter to swarm. Don't you kill him in 1 round if he just bumps 1 and the other 5-6 get full shots? Assuming it's the opening engagement, all should still be in formation and only 1 is getting bumped... Howl should be able to avoid the bomb easily, and will not die to autoblaster first turn.

  5. Some card games have changed cards before. Yu-Gi-Oh! for example has reprinted cards that were considered too powerful in the past (and banned) so that they could be used once more. It is just always assumed you're using the latest version of a card in a tournament and they get re-released in new packs so people can get them. This has never caused an issue since everyone who wants to play competitively has to keep up with banlist updates and stuff... Though they do have the advantage of releasing a card-only product.

I'd switch the EPTs on Fenn and Talonbane. Fenn is more maneuverable and more likely to get a ship in position than TC.

In place of Talonbane, do you have Kavil? or another Fang fighter (Old Teroch)? TC is cool, but when the Guns for Hire expansion hits, he will be in a much better position. Right now he's 9 points more than your Fenn build and he's not as good. Kavil would give you a little variety: you can equip him with bombs, torps, astromech and your choice of turret too, plus and EPT that the Rebel Y-wing doesn't get.

This version is an up-close, in-your-face Kavil that you might like:

    Kavil (24)
    Fearlessness (1)
    Autoblaster Turret (2)
    Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)
    Bomb Loadout (0)
    "Genius" (0)
    Thermal Detonators (3)
    Engine Upgrade (4)

    Total: 40

One last thing, we have the X-wing Squad List forum. This topic may have been better over there. I'm not complaining, just pointing it out for the future.

WTF Kamikaze Kavil!? Imperial Aces era is gone, so dunno how good this is... But it's hilarious for sure!

The only standard play Imperial ship I don't own is Decimator, and I probably never will. I have affection for every TIE variant except the Punisher. (It's in the same box of shame as my remaining Scum.) That design was lazy escallation of the TIE form factor. My Imperial lists have been neatly balanced between jousting and dodging.

Whoa there, don't hate on the Punisher! It may suck, but it literally was made to be a tier 3 upgrade for the TIE Bomber in a videogame I like a lot. It was never supposed to be anything else.

I agree with the Palp nerf, but you make a good point. It does explain why Palp Defenders got the nerf bat and Attanni Mindlink didn't.

Any scrub can point to why Palpatine is broken. But if you tell a scrub that Mindlink is just as broken if not more so, they'll tell you much it 'hates' stress and doesn't need to be nerfed.

Pretty sure the Palp/Manaroo nerf came literally just as Attani became a popular list. It was decided before that card became common. They were targeting the Dengaroo + Palp Defenders meta from late last year.

Even more reason to give him FCS and Mindlink: that way the ships he's flying with can still pass him Focus through their own green maneuvers, AND he's still got modification of his dice even if he has to pull whites after his one trick.

I mean, I still think Mindlink Guri or Thweek is better, but a single stress is not the utter horror that some people think it is.

Mindlink will be good if the other ships can afford being passed a stress every other turn.
