  1. It’s conceivable that you could use Loth Bats. (If you’ve seen Rebels) Purgills are also a possibility. Although a potentially deadly one.
  2. These sorts of discussions always derail the original purpose of the threads they creep up in. It comes down to either being a viable tactic for mass implementation which undermines existing canon or a rather difficult to orchestrate/expensive etc. Option. Different people see it different ways, but what I will say is that there is no end of examples of self-sacrifice in Star Wars... it’s basically one of the main themes that is repeated... and as we can see in our own world, it’s also the tactic that those with little power facing overwhelming military power often use. All that said, Episode VI was the last episode of real Star Wars, so you know which side of the debate I fall on. Now can we return to the discussion of the books merits lol?
  3. We got two artists! Let’s get a few more to make it interesting. If you aren’t an artist but you know an artist suggest they join in!
  4. Anyone interested in doing a monthly art challenge? We can choose a theme or topic and anyone who wants to can submit their image up until the deadline. Then the one with top honours gets to choose the topic for the next month and gets the honorific title bestowed upon them until next month! If we get a few interested artists then we’ll pick a theme and do this for the month of May to start.
  5. I’m fine with tweaking rules as appropriate. There was nothing wrong with capping Defense at 4 for example. But applying rules from Gensys is not the way to do this.
  6. If they changed the system to a Gensys Clone I would quit. That system is not robust enough for SW. Its the bare bones that needed the extra content this system has. It’s not perfect but things like chases and space combat could be adjusted without scrapping the other elements that make the system. And don’t you ever touch my crafting, it is potentially OP but so are Jedi, so if I’m swinging a spanner for a career I want to see some epic moments too. Plus, I ain’t paying for the systems rules reboot. No, I think we need more of what makes this system great. Give us region and era books, give us adventure hooks and books with in-depth looks at technology like weapons, Droids and ships. I mean imagine a book designed to include the entire R-Series of Astromechs and IG’s signature Assassin Droids. Imagine it came packed with abandoned Droid factory adventures and manufacturing empires whose stock rises are in a little too in step with Imperial powers to be coincidental... etc.
  7. This from the new lost in space Netflix show?
  8. Think we are off topic again. There are those that like The Lame Jedi and then there are the rest of us. Let’s leave out the explicit references to the film that should never have been.
  9. Oh I agree, I was just saying that as a player he could an argument could be made that it was a continuous multi round activity and therefore if he used his action during a turn he could set a Bodyguard in place for each subsequent round until it was destroyed. As a GM I would rule as you have and say that the effect can only mechanically work once for balance and narrative reasons. I wouldn’t prevent him from using one after the first is destroyed though, he would be using his actions and costing himself credits so it’s balanced in that sense.
  10. Omfg!!! That’s awesome! Well one Miralukan is better than none! And yeah, I get that there is a lot we can learn about the Tholothians but personally I would rather something with more of a cool factor. (Thissipians are pretty cool I guess, if they don’t have to be hairy snakes... why are they hairy snakes? Can’t they just be snakes?)
  11. Yeah. Bet it’s Vurk and Tholothian as well. Not bad, but not overly exciting choices either. Tholothian are basically human and we have so many other more worthy species yet to account for. (We need a canon Miraluka!)
  12. I actually love the idea of having a series of attacks against the DS and have passed on your suggestion in my “wish list” on another post. I’ll actually take a look at designing something like this if/when I have time. I appreciate the non-spoilers and will PM you to discuss it all when I finish up the series in a few days so we can chat about it!
  13. The thing is, the Droids don’t act independently of you, you have to direct them. The CRB states that giving orders to Allies is an action, and that you can take one action, so therefore you could order a single droid to do a single task, and each round you would be required to renew this. The exception may be in regards to Bodyguard actions, where you could make an argument that you “commit” the droid to doing so, and do not need to renew this each round, but in my own games this does not extend to separate actions like that of attacks. You could make the argument that they are minions but minions cannot learn ranks in skills, so they would be restricted by that, and I couldn’t find any reference to treating them as minions. (Although im not an expert in anyway on this, and I welcome someone with more information) With the above understandings in place I believe Supreme Speaks Binary is the ability for you! You can command a number of Droids equal to Ranks, they use your skill for the roll AND you get bonuses per ranks to add to the roll. Imagine you create these Droids and carry them with you for that special moment, when your Droids can turn the battle.
  14. I would love to see an Adventure designed the way the Castle Ravenloft adventure was designed in D&D... meaning that it is randomly determined by the GM before beginning so that players who may have read the book do not necessarily know what to expect. I find many GMs avoid published adventures because they feel their players have too easy access to the content and therefore know what to expect. I also want to see dedicated books on ships and weapons that are filled to bursting with art and stats including some original creations. I want to see an adventure book designed around a Rebel Cell participating in the two Death Star Battles. Someone recently suggested tackling laser turrets, shield generators, wings of fighters, capital ships etc as part of an evolving battle. I would also like a region book involving the Chiss Ascendency. I would love a section of a book on Cloning and specifically on Arkaanian and Kaminoan Cloning facilities and corporations... with rules for growing clones and an adventure involving a deranged clone.. Palpatine/Obi Wan/C’Both? (Maybe not the last part lol) More Era Books... the Clone Wars one should include all the CIS Droids from Buzz and B1 (variants) through Supers and Droidekas and on till you incorporate everyone. Then it should have a universal spec for a Reprogrammed CIS Droid... like my Buzz Droid. I want to see a lot of the species previously mentioned but specifically; - Miraluka - Jawa - Herglic - Ewok - Zeltron - Defel - Clone Trooper (I know we have the universal spec but I would love for this to be able to be paired with an actual species beyond tacking on the Mandalorian Human)
  15. That would be an interesting way to deal with the Death Star and I would buy that as an adventure (especially if they had both DS1 and DS2 battles highlighted) but what about the group that has a destroyer by Endor and wants to attack the station directly? I just can’t imagine how having the stats is a bad thing. Also, Bendu looks like an ugly *** Moose-thing and I think if you put a fight against that or the DS before a group there would be no question which they chose. (Rebels spoilers are still unwanted btw.)
  16. Their roll would depend on how much advantage you had available in crafting so that you could boost their characteristics... bc as it stands they are 1-1-1-1-1-1. With combat directives you then get Bodyguard 1 and Rank 1 in whatever Weapon. So assuming you have the advantage you can then potentially roll YGGGG which is boosted by ranks in speaks binary with a B per and the benefits of Improved and Supreme Binary. (We’ll return to Supreme Binary in a second) Personally, I would rule that you wouldn’t be able to command multiple Droids in a single round, but I’m not well versed in the RAW per minion groups for PC’s. As for Bodyguard, you can use that as an action, but you will not able able to take other actions and RAW cap Defense at 4 per the errata anyways. That said, even if you are unable to command them all every round, you are able to command them by taking the Supreme Binary route. My current PC has 7 ranks in Speaks Binary, so I could command 7 Droids to use my ranks to perform an action as a maneuver once per encounter. But the wording states something about Non-minion and tbh I don’t know what the devs were intending by that language. Btw: I have a Commando Droid and Schematics for an HK... with plans on finding an IG and Droideka.... that talent will mean raining hellfire if/when I can get my investments to pay off....
  17. Ah makes sense, I knew Thursday’s meant something.
  18. I don’t think many groups are likely to set out to recreate the trench run but I do see the potential for Rebel cells to be present at Yavin or Endor and to play a role in that battle. While they need not be the decisive factor, it would be an amazing thing to say you flew against a Death Star and for that... you need stats.
  19. Yeah, there’s not much more that needs to be said about this. It’s clearly structured in such a way so as to follow the order that it has been printed in. The only reason to try and change th order would be to exploit the system for min/max reasons, clearly not something that the game designers would support.
  20. Haven’t they been announcing these things on Thursday’s for the last couple, not Wednesday’s?
  21. Umbara would make for an ideal location for a fog shrouded, alien landscape. It would even have a lovecraft esque horror feel to it. The skakoan’s offer a nice take on a planet with a different atmosphere and stations they might construct may be distinct in this way. The Volcanic activity on Sullust and their heavy industry makes for an industrial wasteland/paradise.
  22. Maybe it’s a difference in the people at the table as I usually play with older, seasoned gamers but I’ve never seen this happen and would quickly handle it anyways. Imagine your players decide to try and attack Grand Admiral Thrawn whose investigating their cell and finally caught up to them in a confrontation you’ve been planning for some time. Player X decides his character is gonna kill Thrawn and attacks. We roll the dice and it’s a hit, player rolls damage and it’s gonna be awesome, maybe he might kill Thrawn?!?! Nope. Turns out that was a holoprojection of Thrawn and the shot hits the wall. As the image rematerializes before the players he chides them for their violence as a ray shield descends over the group, “Now, now. We have only just met, we haven’t even been properly introduced. I’m Grand Admiral Thrawn and you must be the Rebel fell known as Phalanx Group. I trust that you will forgive my appearance but I couldn’t help but notice that it was likely player X would skip these necessary pleasantries. And oh, how I do love them.....” Iconic figures ground your player experience in the established universe and help create those amazing memories and narrative highlights that will form lasting memories on your players. No one questions the inclusion of Halaster Blackcloak in Forgotten Realms or Iuz in Greyhawk yet they complain at Star Wars lore figures? GMs are given the freedom to use figures as they will. I like to think about the inclusion in Rebels of key figures like Saw Guerrera, Thrawn or Bail Organa who are interspersed in the story to tie the new heroes and their stories to existing canon and further those tales. We would have no extended universe or legends canon if we didn’t build upon the foundation that exists. Have you included Talon Karrde or Booster Terik in your EOTE campaign? Did you ever encounter a nest of gundarks or try to shoot out the panel to prevent someone from coming through the door behind you? References, cameos and Easter eggs are great ways to build your own tale within the established IP imho.
