  1. Those are great ideas. I don't know much about sports but I'm sure the kids do. Puzzle solving is good too because I can always use the old (players cover your ears) whatever-the-players-think-of-is-what's-happening trick. What about a skill list? If I just take out combat skills and rename a few things ... or is there a good *stand-in* for combat? I want to avoid combat altogether just so I don't get myself in trouble ?

    For Kids?

I'm a teacher, and I want a Genesys setting for elementary age kids I guess what I really need is a replacement for combat. Any ideas? Thanks!
  3. I haven't actually played it, but Princes of the Apocalypse is one of my favorite D&D books. http://dnd.wizards.com/products/tabletop-games/rpg-products/princes-apocalypse
  4. What about a talent: Undercrank (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/undercrank) Tier: ? [Ranked?] Once per session, before rolling a Cool check to determine initiative order, make an opposed Cool versus Vigilance check against a character in short range. If successful, add ■■ to your initiative check for this encounter [or ■ for each of your character's ranks in Undercrank?]. If unsuccessful, add ■■ to your initiative check for this encounter. During the encounter, your character must target that character with a check at the first opportunity.
  5. I like the idea, and with the right group of players it could be fun. In general, I'm all for fixing stuff that isn't broken Of course, the RAW initiative mechanic is fast. Getting a good initiative slot is always important, perhaps even more so in this game, and the RAW let the players make the most of whatever they roll. What sounds fun to me about your idea is the opposed checks. It would slow down the game, yes ... but you could almost envision it as putting the scene into slow motion. That seems pretty cool, except maybe only for the first round.
  6. I want that so bad, but I can't bring myself to hope it'll ever happen ?
  7. I too am running an Android game with the Worlds of Android book. You fellas want to hop on a dedicated Discord server to talk shop?
  8. What's a good way to evaluate the projected usefulness of different skills in your campaign before you start? What are some parameters for balancing careers? How about a big list of careers with no titles? Which combination of PC roles work well for which kinds of settings? You know, gimme party types like, let's say Standard: Tank, Striker, Medic, Talker or Dungeon Crawl: Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, Thief. What defense rating is comparable to what soak value? You know, all the stuff FFG has in spreadsheets for creating new content themselves That's what I want. Oh, and setting books. Keep those comin' too (i.e. TAKE ALL MY MONEY PLEASE).
  9. Seems like the two previous posters didn't quite understand the system. Copy the text and add your own info so everything is contained in one post: USA USA — Cleveland, OH — c__beck USA — Poulsbo, WA— Lyinggod USA — Seattle, WA — Noldorian USA — Darlington, SC — Kakita Shijin Europe Norway — Oslo region — Morridini
  10. Well, I got Xanathar's Guide to Everything as a birthday present today. Buying me D&D books is actually a pretty good idea since I'm unlikely to already have them ? I do have the three 5e core books somewhere, Volo's Guide to Monsters, a few published adventures ... has anyone already done the leg work for playing D&D with narrative dice? If I make a "conversion" myself it will be minimal, substituting narrative dice with the smallest number of changes possible.
  11. "Themself" makes my eyes bleed. In any rules text I write I'm going with "she".
  12. Now that there's a lull in expansions I would love to watch you guys build a Crane deck together. Please?
  13. @Tabris2k Hey, you @ss, I appreciate how you mitigated the offense of your complaint with a cordiality the internet tends to lack ? Then again, I didn't see it before the edit ?
  14. This is probably common knowledge, but I thought I'd offer it as bait because I have a question. 'Icebreakers,' Case said, over the rim of the red mug. 'Ice from _ICE,_ intrusion countermeasures electronics.' - William Gibson, Neuromancer, Ch. 2 What, if anything, does rez stand for?
  15. @Aingeru TeamworkCast and Trace Five are fantastic and just what I was looking for! Thank you!
  16. I'm working on a similar project, Android: Genesys and of course all my work will be moot once FFG gives us a sourcebook. Instead of scrapping the magic types and rewriting everything, I've decided to re-skin them and only delete whatever turns out to be nonsense. The Android universe has clones with psychic powers, so my characters can take Divine Psionics (will) -- and we'll say it's accomplished by gene modification. I'm also not wild about the hacking rules as written, so I'm going to re-brand Arcana (int) as Hacking. This is admittedly more of a stretch but I'm going for a Watch Dogs feel. Attacking with Arcana Hacking will be the same mechanically but it will rely on nearby electronic items. Conjure will have to be something like "Control" ... also relying on nearby electronic items. Mechanically, it makes no difference whether we say a mage conjures something or a player adds something to the scene as her character "takes control" of it. It's uncanny how clearly the rules can still be used if you Find and Replace a few words: Magic -> ESC (Extrasensory Cognition) Spell -> ESC Divine -> Psionics Arcana -> Hacking I haven't figured out what to do with Primal (cun). I might just toss it. In other news, I am also reading Neuromancer for the first time! It's really good. Highly recommended.
  17. Thanks for the replies! Metropole Grid is indeed good, and I'm working through the Team Covenant tutorials too. I also found Run Last Click (probably when searching this forum for podcasts). Their most recent episode is Episode 90: Revised Core - Beginner Special, so that was helpful. There is a dead YouTube channel devoted to Android lore ... any chance there are other media that cover lore? Even just stray podcast episodes?
  18. When does the Android timeline begin? I see references to dates in the Worlds of Android book but it looks like the calendar was reset at some point. Does the lore have a calendar reset, or any reference to real world time? (It actually seems like a smart move if FFG never anchored the timeline with a firm date ... I bet sci-fi writers do that a lot.)
  19. Slow Dance allows characters to use Agility for Melee (like your Finesse talent) but at the cost of a Maneuver. Improved Slow Dance is the same effect plus Aim. I plan to test it in an Android: Genesys game where Melee is rare. Slow Dance Tier: 2 Activation: Active (Maneuver) Ranked: No Your character may use this talent to treat Agility as the associated characteristic for the next Melee Combat Skill check she makes. Improved Slow Dance Tier: 3 Activation: Active (Maneuver) Ranked: No Your character may use this talent to treat Agility as the associated characteristic for the next Melee Combat Skill check she makes. In addition, gain ■■ on that check.
  20. I ... actually only bought the game because I want the tokens.
