Shadows in the Light (OOC)
crookedcrown replied to Ryoden's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
Shopping List Negotiations: 2eA+1eP+1eD 1 success, 4 advantage Lots of advantage!! Just one success ^_^;;;;; I guess Brin looked at the list and just thought Hey... I know one shop that sells all of that stuff lol -

Upgrades and downgrades work a little differently. Downgrades can't reduce the difficulty level, they can only downgrade red challenge dice to purple difficulty dice. Only reducing the difficulty of a check would have that effect. There's a thread dedicated to it somewhere on this forum. I double checked myself when I took the congenial talent - just in case. When I get home I can check for page numbers in the rulebook to cite XD -

Lol very nice XD except for one thing -- downgrading checks (for example, with congenial) isnt the same as reducing difficulty. I can't remove difficulty dice with a downgrade, I can only downgrade challenge dice! In any event, as long as @Ryoden is okay with our approach, I'm ready to do an easy negotiation check! (This will be for the 'simple' check identified above, although actually an 'easy' check) -

I'm ready to roll for anything @Hinklemar wants me to grab, in case he wants to mitigate the difficulty or maximize our results. I haven't exactly calculated the odds or anything, so I don't know what's better, hahaha. Otherwise, Brin will leave things in Fzaexx's capable hands (in which case, he'll probably pretend he's helping load up the ship, hehehe). edit: I just realized there's no reason not to split that up XD it's just approaching the situation with more dice (unless I'm mistaken about how you want to calculate the difficulty) @Ryoden could I split off to find one of the rarity 4 items on my own and leave the rest to fzaexx -- giving him an average negotiation check and me an easy one? -

Confident that the negotiations will go well, Brin offers the credits from his own supply to cover the difference just in case. -

So with -2 rarity per item (to a minimum of 0 I assume), we're looking at a total of 7 rarity (if I understand that correctly). If @Hinklemar wants to split it up, I can take some of the pressure off of that check, but I mean... Fzaexx's Negotiation is so high, he probably doesn't need the help XD -

Love it, let's do it. I'm glad @Mattimeo84 that you itemized it, I was about to suggest the same for the sake of our GM, hahaha. If we could list the base rarities on there too, that would be perfect so he could set the difficulty. (Tough for me to do at work) Then it's all in our trusty entrepreneur's hands. -

XD I think the amount of time we'll use going shopping for supplies is minor and justified. I just want to wait on every player's input ^_^;;; -

I think @Weedles and Fries is the only one who hasn't posted since we started discussing shopping. I'm personally just waiting for him to confirm whether or not he is looking for anything before we commit to a shopping list. Don't wanna overlook anyone! -

I won't reveal my name (sorry), but you can call me Rain. I manage a SUPER SLOW video game store near Toronto in Canada and draw comics as well. The former pays better than the latter, but what can you do? I tend to stay up late working on deadlines, and I can post as long as I'm awake (most days starting at 7 am, or when I work in the evenings, starting at around 11 am). As you can tell, this kind of forum is very easy to accommodate into my lifestyle -

Sounds like a job for @Hinklemar XD Just wondering if @Weedles and Fries and @Ahrimon want to add to the shopping list. -

@Imperial Stormtrooper Agreed. @Ryoden Finding slicing gear out here... should we do that with Streetwise, or Negotiation? Based on our shopping list, Fzaexx and Brin can always head out to pick up supplies while IC the rest of the team get the ship ready for take off (maybe bring some muscle with us just in case). -

3 sessions at most, but I still consider it a one-shot...maybe that's incorrect ^_^; Part of the format I'm going to present this to them in involves surviving multiple in-game days both in prison and potentially in the wild or in hiding, depending on what they do. I didn't get into this much detail previously, but the format I'm playing around with involves rewarding them with small amounts of experience every in-game week as well as checking for obligation. I didn't want to get into that much detail cause I didn't want to detract from the point of the thread, which has been incredibly fruitful so far! ^_^; -

Yup, great idea! I'll need a crash course on those rules, haha. In the Age of Rebellion book, right? -

Brin spots the YT-`1000 sitting outside the scrapyard as he and Neelig return to Mud Pond. I guess they're back. The pair meet the rest of the team in the common room and present them with a small case filled with credits. "Well team... 2880 credits, courtesy of Neelig's Gossam friend over in the Duros Sector, with the promise of more credits to come, as long as we can procure that targeting computer. What say we use these credits to load up on the necessities before we head out?" I may not know a lot about salvage ops, or running a scrapyard even... but I can lie, cheat, and steal. We've got the suits, we've got the ship... I wonder what else we're gonna need? I'll defer to the techheads when it comes to supplies. -

Love the guards forcing you guys to fight for their amusement. Man, that is great! I have to know... did you attempt to bluff, and then it went poorly? ^_^; -

That sounds like so much fun!! XD Honestly, a lot of times I just think to myself 'what would I like to play' when designing scenarios for my friends. I hope you get some closure somehow eventually >_< Maybe if this goes well, I'll attempt to run a similar PBP here XD -
Prison Break Ideas
crookedcrown replied to crookedcrown's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
@KungFuFerret Woowwww all the ideas!! What I like most about a prison riot or even a prisoner transfer that occurs outside their control is that it gives me a way to move things forward if they get stuck or are having difficulties. Also, like you mentioned, they could learn in advance that these things might happen, using any details that they could narrow down to plan their escape. The fugitive stuff is downright BRILLIANT. This is somewhat a one-shot campaign with a clear win condition and all. Surviving in the wild outside the present is also something that I want to present a real challenge to the players. As a bit of a treat I suppose, when we've finished the campaign, I'm thinking of offering the players a chance to continue playing with those characters if they'd like in future adventures. -

Yeah, I feel like the planning is an expected part of the premise. Which brings up an idea -- maybe they should share a cell so they can communicate more easily! I wonder how much things will have to get out of hand for the prison to end up in ruins, hahaha. -

WOH BOY, this will be fascinating XD So I'm going to take my base negotiation (GGY), upgrade it once with destiny (GYY), and downgrade the difficulty of the check with my Congenial talent (RPPP) (suffering 1 strain) total roll of GYYRPPPB ALRIGHT LET'S ROLL IT UP Negotiating with Aramhi (GYYRPPPB): 1eA+2eP+1eC+3eD+1eB 2 successes, 1 threat YESS success! -

Shadows in the Light (OOC)
crookedcrown replied to Ryoden's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
I'd like to perform a Streetwise check to determine whether my character knows how much an Imperial targeting computer goes for on the black market, and to gain some leverage.
