  1. They love it! The group at my store is great. The tournament players are super competitive, but really fun and friendly: and it's the top dudes who are most into HotAC. For the ARC-170, I didn't bother changing anything. I'm kind of ok with players getting really powerful - I'll just keep upping the ante on the bad dudes if needed. The ARC and the B-Wing both exploded on our last mission, so they've not yet had a chance to truly flex their muscles. I've also approved the U-Wing, but nobody has taken that road yet.
  2. We're getting a consistent squad size of 7(!) which is really stretching the limits of the rules, so we have to play fast, and get everyone in on helping move the TIEs around, etc. I need to start adding stronger enemies to compensate for our big rebel flight crew.
  3. I cannot agree more! Due to 1st edition fatigue, I've been running HotAC at my local store every other week for about 2 months now, and we are all having a great time. I enjoy connecting the missions together with a running narrative for the players. For example I know that in a few more missions, our squad will be trying to take over an Imperial refueling station, so I've been playing up the idea that the Empire is closing in on the location of the current Rebel HQ in the Aturi Cluster and will need a new base. During the mission briefing before our last session, I stopped the intro and said all the power at the station went out. An imperial probe droid was detected in proximity, and the rebels shut everything down and went into "silent mode", with just one passive sensor trained on the droid. I imitated the droid babbling heard in The Empire Strikes Back, and the pilots had to wait for the droid to pass before the mission briefing could continue. I mess around with the fluff descriptions of the missions to fit my narrative, and make it seem like one ongoing story, I even found a Star Wars text-crawl creator website that I can put text into. Fun stuff. Gameplay wise, I am having a blast with my X-Wing! I've got Engine Upgrade, Autothrusters, Integrated Astromech, Servomotor S-Foils, R2-D2, Push the Limit, and Sabine Wren's Pilot ability. One of the other pilots has traded in his X-Wing for a B-Wing, and another pilot is flying an ARC-170. We are also slowly incorporating 2nd edition rules as we go - I printed a 2nd ed damage deck for our most recent mission, for example. SO MUCH FUN!
  4. The Firespray and the B-Wing are both tall ships. I don't know anything about that ship, but I don't see why more tall ships could not be included.
  5. I think an A-Wing painted like just the head of a duck would work. The front end is bill-like.
  6. @heychadwick Take a look, the new ATC is quite a bit different than the old ATC. It does not add a crit, you roll 1 extra die and can change 1 hit to a crit.
  7. If your Jam victim is lower Initiative than you, Jam works just as well. If your enemy already activated and took a green token, when you Jam them, the green token comes off. If instead your enemy is higher initiative than you, you assign the Jam token and then your enemy must decide to either take some action not messed with by Jam, or get rid of the Jam by taking a focus/evade/reinforce (is calculate a green token? probably*). *Yep, calculate tokens are green, I did not remember seeing one, but I just looked it up, and there it is: verde as the veritas.
  8. While it's generally assumed that Jam will assign 1 Jam token to an enemy ship at range 0-2, we could be wrong. It's possible the range is different, or it's possible the enemy ship must be in your arc.
  9. He does. See the revealed photo here: The little up arrow/ triangle to the right of the +1 indicates the force charge is recovered each round. I think all the pilots and crew we've seen with a force stat have this recovery symbol, if I am not mistaken.
  10. Yes, I think maybe a Security Droid crew is possible, like K-2SO's non-liberated brothers and sisters.
  11. Mouse Droid, TIE Defender Pilot.
  12. For many ships I have been able to mentally store second edition info by remembering a list of changes from first edition. I've had trouble doing so with the HWK: it's just a different ship altogether, and one I am very excited to try out.
  13. Targeting Protocols While you are attacking, you may spend one of your Calculate tokens to change one of your blank results to a [hit] result.
  14. I think the non-360 bowtie arc, the red barrel roll, and the lack of linked actions all go a long way toward reducing the power level of the ship.
  15. Read to the end! There's a narrative arc and everything!
  16. There are other simple typos that, while they don't exist, are brought to mind by Caption Rex. ------------------ ...Red Two had heard enough about the shot that was "one in a million". You know who got the squad there? Red Two did, that's who. With a jerk, he swirled his black trench coat on over his back and slammed the door as he huffed out of the ready room, leaving the other pilots behind in the awkward silence that followed. F'ing farm boy! I'm a **** good pilot myself, you know... He knew what would make him feel better. He'd go see that pretty Senator's daughter. She's still probably sad her planet was destroyed. She'd need some cheering up, right? He could do that, it would be the gentlemanly thing to do, and he was a gentleman, even if nobody saw it, gorramit. He rounded the corner to the hanger and spotted the young woman. She was covering her mouth and laughing at something that **** spice smuggler said. Of course! Unidentified rage exploded inside and he spun around, slamming his forehead into the doorway arch, causing everyone to turn and look. "I'm the best pilot in the Galaxy, you morons!" he shouted at everyone and no one. -The frustrations of Edge Antilles
  17. "Master of Captions", the former soldier thought to himself as he bent over the most recent issue of the New Yorker. He had won the caption contest 3 times in the last 8 months: an unprecedented streak of winning wittiness. Peering at the printed sketch of a business man standing in the rain while holding a duck under his arm, he chuckled to himself. "Better make that 4 times! I'll be Caption Rex!"
  18. That's how I ran it on the dining room table before I had all the cards from everywhere. We make do!
  19. The free engagement-phase mobile arc rotations will continue until morale improves!
  20. Millenium Falcon title also grants a defensive reroll if you have an evade token.
  21. @mcgreag Thank you I asked the holy Internet, and It sent you as Its agent to answer my query. Praise be!
  22. I am reserving judgement about upgrade cards growing up to match pilot cards in size. I can see pros and cons. I heard that the special edition damage deck available with a pre-ordered core set was also standard sized. Is that true?
  23. Points aside, just talking timing and game effects: does anyone have a suggestion for a change to Luke's text (assuming the translation is 100%) that would make him palatable? Here are some options: "At Initiative 6 in the activation phase...." or "spend a [force] to execute a [rotate] action" (the difference is that it's the action and can be stopped by stress) or "...if you do, you cannot modify your attack dice this turn" or "after you perform an action, you may spend one [force] to ...." I am curious, if you are offended by Luke Gunner, would any of the above changes ease your concern?
  24. The photos thT @Rytackle posted on the Mynock FB page from the World's demo games seemed to show multiples of the same card with the same number. So, I'm thinking @skotothalamos has got it nailed down here. And I really like his notion of replacing crits by reference to their number in this sequence - I mean, hopefully it's not needed because something is terrible and bad, but it's a nice thought that there may be tools to help fix a bad situation, or I suppose add more variety just for funzies.
