It's hard to beat Predator + Expertise on any ship in HotAC. With the ARC, throw on Vectored Thrusters, Finn, R2-D2, Shield Upgrade, etc.

Within the academic field known as Philosophy of Mathematics, it is observed that there is more than one way that people use the number zero. The confusion about Sunny Bounder's ability is caused by the presence of at least two different and perfectly legitimate uses going on here.
It seems perfectly natural for me to say that there is no number of banthas in my bedroom.
It also seems perfectly natural for me to say that the exact number of banthas in my bedroom is zero.
Clear rules are a good thing for a competitive game, but the multiple homonymous meanings of zero causes the word to be ambiguous. How are we meant to interpret the word in this context?
Until an FAQ or errata clears up the ambiguity in this case, I suggest, as far as possible, following the general precedent of allowing the more permissive interpretation, so long as it is a legitimate interpretation according to the other rules. Since the FAQ specifically says you can reroll 0 dice, I would say that Sunny's ability works in that situation.

One big advantage of this ability is when used with on-reveal-dial bombs that normally detonate at the end of the activation phase. The range one footprint of those tokens is really big compared to the action bombs like Conner Net or Cluster Mines. Reb Nym can turn a Proton Bomb, Ion Bomb, Bomblette or Thermal Detonator into the biggest footprint persistent bomb there is. And if it's a Bomblette, who cares if it's not in the perfect location? You're dropping one every turn and can decide which of the two stays and which one detonates, or you can allow both to detonate.

If I have 2 Cluster Mines equipped, with Extra Munitions, can I choose "4?" I would argue that the "any number" there has to be equal to or less than the number of bombs you have equipped. Then you can interrupt with EM to discard tokens instead of cards, but the window for choosing the number of bombs is already passed.I think this is a very good argument. I think this is the right approach to take in answering these questions: think like a computer program. That said I don't know if I've been convinced of either side on this particular question. The answer depends, I think, on whether there is a discreet step in the procedure for choosing the number which is the "any number." It may instead work like this:
1. Trigger Minefield Mapper after "Place Forces".
2. Pick a bomb upgrade on the ship with Minefield Mapper.
3. Discard the upgrade and place the associated tokens. (Triggering Extra Munitions as appropriate)
4. Repeat steps 2-3 any number of times until a) you decide not to b) you've discarded all bomb upgrade cards.
This would allow the extra munition bombs to be deployed at set up.

Poe Dameron — T-70 X-Wing, R2-D2, Sensor Cluster, Integrated Astromech, Black One, Ship Total: 38
Rey — YT-1300, Expertise, Finn, Kanan Jarrus, Engine Upgrade, Millennium Falcon (TFA), Ship Total: 62
I like it. You may as well throw a 0-point EPT on Poe: Adaptability, Trick Shot, A Score to Settle.

Fenn Rau + Contracted Scout + Palob or Kavil.
Mix in a medium pan on high heat.
Add 3 cups of Attanni Mindlink and a stalk of Twin Laser Turret (modified) until scum rises to the top and all opponents are cooked off.
Season with Torpedoes to taste.
Sprinkle with a custom paint job and serve hot.

Yes indeed. In the one game I've flown with the list I was able to ionize a Falcon two turns in a row - so I used both bombs. At the end of the second turn flying 1 straight the Falcon was left facing the edge of the map with only a few centimeters of space: he had no maneuver options that wouldn't go off the map.
BlodVargarna and Deadfool reacted to this -
Thanks for the feedback. Oh, I know it's not really a special list and I don't think I'd be likely to fly it in a serious competition. I wasn't counting on the bombs actually being dropped, I just thought they'd restrict my opponent's choices, which is good enough for me. Due to the situation in this particular game, even if the Falcon didn't get ionized off the map, it would have been a full health Horton and a full health Roark taking him on - and I'm confident that I would have won. Unmodified TLT is almost 2 auto damage against the Falcon, not to mention Horton rerolls + expertise + Roark plinking with his own TLT + Jan Ors evades to make my HP last longer.

After losing about 20 or 25 games in a row on Vassal since starting to play there 2 months or so ago, I finally won a match today (pause for applause). I do ok in front of a table, but the computer screen (and the fact that I get totally out-flown a lot) just kept me from making good judgement calls about distance.
So, after taking a victory lap around the neighborhood, waving at all the people and shaking the confetti out of my hair, I promptly set aside that list and became obsessed with the following notion:
Horton. With. Expertise.
Double modified TLT shots from him every round. Nasty. Like, really nasty, right?
Here's the squad:
Horton's Revenge (98)
Y-Wing: •Horton Salm (40)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Bomb Loadout (0)
Extra Munitions (2)
•R2-D6 (1)
Expertise (4)
Ion Bombs (2)
X-Wing: •Biggs Darklighter (26)
Integrated Astromech (0)
•R4-D6 (1)
HWK-290: •Roark Garnet (32)
Vectored Thrusters (2)
•Moldy Crow (3)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
•Jan Ors (2)Some thoughts: Roark is a bit fat here, and I know it. But, even if I shave things there aren't enough points for another ship, like say, Rex or even a naked Z.
So, I put this on the board and won my second Vassal game ever in the same day as the first. I don't even know what to do with all the bags of fan mail and all the champagne. My strategy with this squad was to turn tail instantly and make the opponent chase me. I TLT'd my way to a strong lead, and when the enemy was finally right on my tail, Horton dropped an ion bomb. Next turn, same thing, and the enemy falcon went off the map.
Any thoughts?

2 minutes ago, LordFajubi said:How are you using Jan with snapshot? Adding a die is still modifying them and you can't modify the shot at all per the card.
From the FAQ entry for Omega Leader:
"Adding or subtracting dice (i.e. Jan Ors) and canceling die results (i.e. Crack Shot) do not count as modifying dice. However, added die results (C-3P0, Advanced Targeting Computer, Accuracy Corrector, etc.) do count as modifying dice..."

Minor error drives local man crazy.
In the FAQ on page 6, in the section entitled "Inside Firing Arc at Range X", the last sentence refers the reader to the diagram below. The correct diagram is located above this text, not below. The next diagram "below" is on the next page and illustrates large ship collisions.
The madness has set firmly in.

There was HOR Han and Miranda squad at a weekly store tournament that I attended last night. Han had Expertise, C-3P0, Hull Upgrade and HOR Falcon title. The player would rush at the opponent, bumping into them to reduce return fire or taking a TL if he didn't. The plan was to take the initiative (so to speak - not the literal X-Wing game term initiative) on the first engagement and disrupt any plan by the opponent while Miranda SLAM'd ASAP to get involved and do her thing. It was pretty effective; I think the player went 2-1. Not a very powerful list, nor one likely to set the world on fire, but HOR Han appears infrequently enough that he can catch people off guard.

Interesting TL stuff here, but there's a rules misunderstanding, I think. Shara only shares TLs when her friends are attacking, not when defending, so M9-G8 on Dutch cannot take advantage of Shara's TLs.

I've tried these:
1. Cassian + Rage + Kyle Katarn + Inspiring Recruit.
2. Cassian + Enhanced Scopes + Intelligence Agent + BoShek + Ion Projector + Intimidation
3. BSP + Fire Control System + Operations Specialist + Gunner
and a few variants of these along with some other options. Nothing was quite worth it. But, maybe in a year or two something will come along to bring it off the shelves.

As someone else mentioned, the Jumpmaster 5000 is exceptionally good. It comes in the expansion called The Punishing One. The last two World Champions each flew lists which consisted of two Jumpmasters. The ship is, in fact, widely considered too good. The Lancer-Class Pursuit Craft (from the Shadowcaster expansion) is also quite nice with some nifty pilots and new mechanics in the Mobile Firing Arc. Sounds like you're already sold on the Protectorate Starfighter - a fantastic interceptor with a real in-your-face flying style. If I were in your situation, I'd check out some matches on Youtube involving these three different ships and see which catches your fancy and make purchases accordingly.

Norra with Intensity + R7-T1 might be a thing. Boost, TL and Focus in one action is probably worth looking into. That said, R7-T1 is sometimes tricky to trigger.

I would guess that most Rebel players feel close to the way I do about Biggs: they would prefer not to fly Biggs in their lists, but feel as though most of the time they are putting themselves at a disadvantage if they don't do so. As has been pointed out, the high frequency of his appearance in competitive Rebel lists is the result of Rebel ships' relative weakness against reliable red dice. In other words, his popularity is a reaction to the current balance of power, not a driving force of it.

2 hours ago, sf1raptor said:Same here. What's wrong with it?
It's a minor thing, but here goes: A strict reading of the text in combination with FFG's explanation of the words "you" and "your" as referring to the ship which has the upgrade equipped mean that you can put the tokens on all the Illicit upgrades in the squad as intended, but ships other than the one with Jabba are unable to get the benefit of discarding the token instead of the Illicit upgrade card.
I think it's clear what the Jabba card is meant to do, but according to how FFG has told us to interpret card text, it doesn't work.

Corran Horn - A New Approach
in X-Wing Squad Lists
Posted · Edited by Incard
I believe these posts about Zuckuss were written before Zuckess' errata. It used to be the case that the ship with Zuckuss crew could force the defender to reroll any number of of defense dice at the cost of taking 1 stress token per such reroll. The text on the Zuckuss card has been changed so that you cannot activate him if the ship he's on already has any stress.
That said, Zuckuss isn't the only reason Corran Horn has stopped appearing at the top tables of big events. `He is 5 total HP and usually 46-49 points. That's just too much of one's list to risk for such a fragile ship - even though he has 3 AGI and access to Evade. Kylo Ren can deal damage to the hull while at the same time turning off Coran's offense. Bombs can do automatic damage. Fenn Rau moves after Corran and shoots before him, all while defending better than Corran does. Even TLT is a threat to Corran, because he cannot take Autothrusters.
Corran's pilot ability is strong enough that it's not crazy or stupid to try to make him work - but it's a difficult road. There are just too many powerful lists which make Corran fearful.
