This is the back-door buff to Seismic Torpedoes we've all been waiting for!
-
I think the main reason we have this card is because someone really liked imagining a missile getting lodged in a ship's hull then exploding later. Ok, I like cool ideas, too. But what if it did 1 facedown on a hit (cancel all dice), then when triggered did like 3 dice with no defense?

Trying to figure out the best low PS Flight Assist Astromech list
matt.sucharski replied to Biophysical's topic in X-Wing
Sounds like the people who have tried it like it. First hand experience > guessing. -
@AllWingsStandyingBy You're absolutely right of course. The only way it wins is if your opponent loses self control and the capacity for rational thought due to the intial salvo of missiles.

Here's a take on the Rebel PS 10 Harpoon Alpha (it's not PS12, but also has 1 fewer HWK in the list): Rebel Alpha Tycho & Cracken are PS 10, they take TL. Tycho uses Swarm Tactics to get the Green Squadron Pilot to PS 10, who in turn uses Swarm Tactics to get the Bandit to PS 10. The Bandit and the Green Squadron take a focus. Airen shoots and gives a free action to the Bandit for a target lock. Rebel Alpha (99) Tycho Celchu — A-Wing 26 Veteran Instincts 1 Harpoon Missiles 4 Swarm Tactics 2 Guidance Chips 0 A-Wing Test Pilot 0 Ship Total: 33 Airen Cracken — Z-95 Headhunter 19 Veteran Instincts 1 Harpoon Missiles 4 Guidance Chips 0 Ship Total: 24 Bandit Squadron Pilot — Z-95 Headhunter 12 Harpoon Missiles 4 Guidance Chips 0 Ship Total: 16 Green Squadron Pilot — A-Wing 19 Deadeye 1 Harpoon Missiles 4 Swarm Tactics 2 Guidance Chips 0 A-Wing Test Pilot 0 Ship Total: 26

But what if the Z-95s were shooting at PS 12 because of Roark's HWK-290 and judicious use of Swarm Tactics? hmmm? Interested?

Don't forget Airen Cracken and Lt. Blount!

Don't get mad at the player who brings powerful cards to a competition. Seriously!

I was hoping to draw some RAC/lo for my wookiees, but sadly did not. Especially with Breach Specialist, which can be used to flip down the critical damage card from the I'll Show You the Dark Side condition. I got some quad aggressor TLT and, then I faced "T-70 Bro" who was flying.... 3 T-70s and a T-65, naturally. Then Dengar Asajj. Mistakes were made in my losses, and I know what I did that cost me the game each time. Live and learn. Also, flying sleepy is worse than flying drunk, kids; I saw that on Mythbusters.

Other weapons besides Twin Laser Turret will also have a chance to trigger the Harpooned! condition: Ion Cannon, Ion Cannon Turret, Ion Pulse Missiles, Flechette Cannon, Jamming Beam, Tractor Beam, XX-23 S-Thread Tracers.
-
They're both in the same window, I think @KommanderKeldoth. Both Twin Laser Turret and the Harpooned! condition have similar "if this attack hits..." text. That's why the order in which the effects are resolved matters. The order of resolution is determined by initiative if the effects are owned by different players, and by player choice if owned by the same player.
-
It only comes down to initiative if the player whose ship has the Harpooned! condition is the "owner" of its effects, which I think is right. However, if the player whose attack applied the condition owns the effects, then it's not initiative, it's that player's choice regarding the order in which to resolve the effects of the condition and the text on TLT.

When things are so relatively open, you see more variety in squads. This makes it harder to predict the likely match-ups you'll see, which ought to lead to rational players leaning towards consistent take-all-comers type squads (e.g. triple wookiees, parattani-ish), right? Does that make sense?
-
Maybe Latts should be 3 points - the normal cost for a conditional extra action.
-
I agree. Wes (and other similar cards?) could be given an errata that simply allows the removal of 1 token (of any kind) from the enemy ship.

Guys, I won!!!!! 1 game. Lost 2. I'm out. Everyone's fun, though, so it's all good.

I don't think they will start streaming while they still have a chance in the tournament. We are between rounds 1 and 2 as of this post.

I was knocked out of the Friday Hyperspace Qualifier. Anyone know who won it? I saw that Duncan Howard and Paul Heaver were matched in the first round of the Friday Hyperspace Qualifier, but I didn't see who won. Edit: I can confirm the Dengar alt art prize is FAQ-compliant.

This thread is a place to post that you're at the event, and results of the event, including the main event on Saturday & Sunday, and the Hyperspace Qualifiers on Friday & Sunday.

The worst thing about PAX? Bryan "Furniture" Farmer won't be there. Oh sure, everyone will be wearing their traditional Bryan costumes and masks, and singing the songs (naturally). But, it just isn't the same as the real thing. It's like having Bryan Gosling's hologram GF from Platerunner 2049 instead of the real thing.

Alpha-Class Star Wing AKA Skipray Blastboat
matt.sucharski replied to JediPartisan's topic in X-Wing
I am really patting myself on the back for "JediPartiBoats". If Jedi here is a mad genius and he's right, I just hope the name catches on. I'd be happy to eat all the crow there is on this one so long as everyone is calling the list "JediPartiBoats". That said... sorry, but still nope. -

You're seeing something, and you're convinced - our words won't change your mind. Fly it. Try it out. Try to stomp all in your path with it. If you're right, soon everyone will be flying or countering the JediPartiBoats. I am skeptical, because I have flown it. -

Lots of people have played with the Gunboats on Vassal since the dial and upgrades were previewed. The Gunboat has some potential to be good, and maybe there's a way to crack it wide open, but it is not the OP craziness you're afraid it might be. Try it for yourself. They're fun, but they struggle to line up just the right shot and are not very durable. Miranda is a SLAMing, bombing, regenerating turret. I knew Miranda, sir, and Gunboats are no Miranda. -
There are some super sweet looking target lock tokens going out to league contributors; I'm looking forward to that!

My dog's breath smells like dog food. I wonder what Bryan "Ointment" Farmer's breath smells like. Probably Eggos.
