  1. Every time I start to wonder which ships will have which upgrade slots, I remember that it's all adjustable in the app (either officially by FFG, or for custom events by anyone)! How about a battle royale where every participant gets 6 Illicit Upgrades? Now you can!
  2. Also, we will be born into the world of 2nd Edition like newborn babes. We will know nothing; it will take us a bit of time (probably not too long) to start finding the rough edges and the unforeseen combinations that are above the intended power curve of the game. Until that time, we all get to have fun. Then, hopefully not long after the puzzle is solved, the pieces change shape and color and we start again.
  3. I'll use small bases sb as a unit of length. A medium base is 1.5 sb long. When a 1 sb template is laid lengthwise next to it, aligning the midway point of the template with the midway point of the base, a small portion of the base "sticks out". The length of these pieces which stick out is 1/4 sb forward and 1/4 sb backward. The placement rule for the medium base for the 2nd Edition barrel roll follows the same wording as the rule for a large base. Once the template is placed, the player is allowed to line up the newly placed ship so that it's midway point lines up with one of 1) the front edge of the non-moving template, 2) the midway point of the template, or 3) the rear edge of the template. When barrel rolling forward, the newly placed medium sized ship will be 1/2 sb further forward than its previous position (notice that it will be "sticking out" 3/4 sb, but it was "sticking out" 1/4 sb before).
  4. Tough Crowd! Here's a new image that includes the new medium base, and also replaces the U-Wing from the original image with a ship that will remain large-sized in 2nd Edition. (If you're worried about the half-way marks along the bases, don't sweat it: Vassal can place the template midway, as I did to create these images).
  5. There was a 1 speed template there confusing you. Refresh the page and look again. The ships are in the same places, but now the template makes it more clear what's happening.
  6. That's a bit off. The small base loses 1/4 from the front and back each, for a total loss of 1/2. The large base loses 1/2 of a small base from the front and 1/2 of a small base from the back for a total loss of 1 small base.
  7. The left side shows the forward and rear BR positions for Second Edition. The right side shows the maximum forward and maximum rear BR positions for 1st Edition.
  8. Each side shows only the maximum forward or rear positions.
  9. What you describe is something that would be entirely new and different. That would seem to merit mention in the article which is the subject of this thread. In the 2nd Edition games which were recorded by TC, by BoLS, and by FFG during World Championships, selecting a maneuver worked just as it does in 1st edition. You may indeed be over analyzing.
  10. TIE Fighter is cross-faction, too. Don't forget!
  11. I think it's possible that aside from the TIE Reaper and Saw's Renegades expansions, which are being shipped as 1st and 2nd edition compatible, they will hold off on introducing any new content until the release of 2nd edition. It seems a waste of resources to invest in designing and play testing too many new pilots and upgrades for a set of rules which are outdated upon release. Fine with me, I welcome our new 2nd Edition overlords.
  12. I believe that a ship will recover only 1 Force Charge per round, no matter how many sources of Force Charges it has. To use your example, both the Emperor Palpatine and the Darth Vader crew cards have 1 Force Charge. These are added to the base pilot's (let say Patrol Leader's) Force stat of zero, to get a total of 2. According to my understanding, the ship as a whole would then only recover 1 Force Charge per round.

  14. I'm sure this was pointed out before, but the Advanced has no Evade action, I notice.
  15. Congratulations to the new World Champion. What a cool list, what a great pilot, and what a heart-warming father/son moment to see on stream. Kudos to all the top finishers: but for a few die rolls or minor choices, you were right there. And to all the competitors who, from what I hear, overwhelmingly conducted themselves with integrity, respect, and good humor: congratulations and thank you. A special thanks also to Gold Squadron Podcast. The stream was great! I only caught 2 games, and pieces of others, but the stream was professional and engaging. The games happened to be very exciting, too.
  16. Brobots are champions, it's official!
  17. More likely: they see how much fun everyone is having and then they'll buy in, too. I am guessing this is the route to be taken by the majority of The Dissatisfied.
  18. (last week) X-WING VETS: Sadly, this amazing game just cannot be fixed. Sigh. (this week) FFG:
  19. For real, Key Lime Pie is my favorite dessert, bar none. And um, a slice of pie is like a firing arc? And one could calculate the area footprint using pi, so...
  20. Any news from today's flight?
  21. When I finally win a Store Championship.... sometime this Summer!
  22. All these complaints about lack of convenient access to the technology will be eliminated when Disney offers free in-skull mobile devices. The sound quality is amazing, and the monthly fee for reduced ads is reasonable.
