    If a card is significantly above curve you can't create more variety with new cards without making all of them also significantly above curve. Which causes power creep and invalidates a lot of existing cards.

    Lets be honest Dragon will always be one of the favorites splash choices, HT is a plus, cause it have many of the greatest cards in game, not just let go. Dragon has probably the best conflict deck, since most scorpions tricks like AFWTD are very limited as a splash. MF, let go, the 1 cost character that can give your big guy covert, other 1 cost with 2 glory to steal the favor.. great attachments, no other clan gives you that flexibility. In fact many clans conflict decks suffer from a lot of restrictive cards, demanding X or Y to play or trigger. When  building a Dragon deck  I cant find slot for some great cards like indomitable will. Thats a card I probably have a safe slot in every other deck I would build.

    Forgot to address these two questions.
    Yes I think Hawk Tattoo needs to be on RL or changed to read "Attach to your character,"
    It's essentially the only harpoon effect in the game that is playable, via Dragon splash, by everyone and generally included by everyone.  This makes the meta game seems like it's Dragon/x and x/Dragon or bust, which can feel very stale.  While I know that this is not a representation of the overall metagame, it really feels that way when playing anything remotely competitive.
    For temporarily adopted clan, The pONI, aka: Unicorn, All my decks start with Moto Nergui, Master of Swift Waters, Invocation of Ash, Force of the River, Talisman of the Sun......and then I start building from there.  I have warmed up to BMR and I'm pretty close to admitting I missed the mark on her.  She might be better than I thought, and maybe I found the way to best use her, or I may have been incredibly lucky to avoid  bad flops with her so far and eventually reality with set in.  So far, she is making the cut more often than I expected.
    In general I am also including as many Shadowlands cards in as many various clans as I can, but, that is not for any sort of competitive advantage or because any of the cards are better than playing something else.  I just do that cuz I'm a Shadowlands fanboi and I don't want to be left off the train when the Shadowlands Express roles into the station.

    The thing about Hawk Tattoo is that it is a very good disruption card.  Just being able to force your opponent to over commit to a conflict by harpooning in a key character can be a huge disruption to their game plan.  It also works far better in control decks (still have nightmares of a 2 fate Brawler and 3 fate Spirit Caller getting hawked turn 2 into a political conflict with a Shoju who was packing multiple dishonor actions to wipe them both out).

    Ikoma Eiji (yes I know everybody hates it, me too) seems to have a good synergy with the new SH, and Oathkeepers too.
    The Uni attach that moves called my attention cause is versatile, you can use it to defend POl and then move to make the third attack for example.
    But the more I play with HMT the more I think the tall / attachment builds are better and cards to ready / dont bow the char like Indomitable / Gaijin / Curry / Heroic / Clarity are the key to use it.

    This si pretty much it.  I think the Dragon splash for Let Go and Indomitable/Wanderer is probably the best option at the moment.  You need the attachment hate too much for clouds defense at the moment.

    It seems Dragon splash for Indomitable Will seems to be becoming popular.
    Attack with two characters, one big, one small. Win, bow HMT and sacrifice the chump. Indomitable Will the remaining big one. Ready for next attack. Heroic Resolve will also be a huge help once it is available. Ikoma Reservist is also made for it.

    Yeah the original game was perfect from the get go.  Not being able to play cards because your opponent dropped you below the necessary honor requirements was a great gaming experience.  LSD decks dominating competitive play until the first expansion came out was way more balanced than what we have now.  Being able to move into a battle at the end and just win was nowhere near the level of jank we have in the new game.........

    Let me see if this fixes it......
    I agree that the Organized Play structure needs quite a bit of work of its going help the growth of the game instead of hinder it.

    Is a very good holding, not broken but is another fate generator for scorps, that already have the core set ones that does this.
    If theres one thing that really pisses me off in the game is the powerfull holdings. First limiting one per deck is a terrible way of balancing anything, karada district for example is a calling favors on steroids, as if calling was not one of the great cards of the game. The game already have an inherent mechanic that favors playing few characters from dynasty that is gaining a fate from passing first, so, many builds can manage to keep 1 or even 2 holdings without huge problems. The first time I looked at the conflict characters possibilities in new5R I thought it was a smart decision to prevent bad dynasty flops. But on the otherside theres smart players too, and so they managed to abuse this to keep powerfull holdings, pass first, gain fate and play conflict characters, and if your holdings or SH enables you to draw extra cards every turn so the pack is complete. Holdings that draw cards, gain fate, steal attachments, keep characters in play, ready characters, all this without spending fate? without costing honor / conflict cards? Just for the cost of blocking a province? Many games are being won / lost based on the timing holdings show off, regardless of players skills.

    Scorpion doesn't care about your honor total being higher, they just care about their hand advantage and letting their dishonor tech punish you.  Between the plethora of ways they can dishonor you, messing with your ability to assign by harpoons and the control of Forged Edicts allowing them to stay on top of your power cards they ride their card advantage to just stopping breaks on your part and token attacks on their part to ship at your honor and keep theirs afloat.

    Trust me I have one of the best Scorpions in the discord league in my play group I've seen how he can manage most decks even when they are trying to honor pressure them.

    Sorry but I disagree. In a balanced enviroment % should be closer. Not only that but the clan challenger mechanic (rescuing players from all clans and giving them a chance to get in the top 16) should also help smooth % in the top 8 as you state. And there... you see it doesnt. Those clans are rescued and yet they dont get to the top 8 as much as the "star" clans.

    Im not an expert game designer. But there are problems. F.e. no neutral attachment control makes it that outside of Dragon and Scorp you either splash those or are at severe disadvantage. Ive been in the receiving end of a Kuni Witch hunter that just gets some Spyglasses and starts eating Kaiu Envoys turn after turn, staying in the field seemingly forever due to Reprieve, Iron Mine, berseker, etc. and It doesnt feel great. Some clans just have outright better dynasty characters and better combos/strategies. Strong character abilities make Cloud the Mind almost a must (not sure, we could check, but I doubt there's a Kotei winner that doesnt pack 3x of CtM) so if your clan shugenja are crap, then you are at severe disadvantate. Etc, etc.

    This is not a problem if you are going to be playing multiplayer with your friends in the living room. But If your intent is to make this a competitive asymmetric strategy card game, balance is important and has to be addressed.

    So a couple of flaws you have there.  The most obvious is Vanguard is Crab only since its a dynasty character.  You also appear to be minimizing the fact that Iron Mine is your restricted card thus limiting your access to other powerful cards (in crabs case Charge being the most obvious, but with the right build you could also leverage Policy Debate to good effect in order to cripple your opponents hand as part of your dishonor strategy).

    There is no question that Iron Mine is a great card, and yes since it is a Crab only card it is easy to look at it and curse them for their easy access to it.  Frankly to me the only interaction that makes it almost too good is the Rebuild one and if you were to add Rebuild to the restricted list that would likely be  enough to rein in the perceived imbalance that it causes as now you have to either defend it or use it the turn it comes up in your province.

    No, you can't. Rebuild can only replace the card in an unbroken province.

    Fan, Katana and banzai are reclining indeed, but court games won't disappear, as it's the only card that so strong and neutral so far.
