  1. Elusiveness is perfectly viable with Ezra. It's garbage pretty much everywhere else, but on Ezra, he gets to wait until he's being attacked and then choose to stress, giving him the ability to turn two focus into evades. There is valuable utility in not stressing Ezra unless he is drawing fire.

This is more so speaking from experience with the attack shuttle though. I think sheathipede Ezra will probably prefer stressbot.

  2. That looks winnable. Focus down the deci. Worst case, keep Poe alive and healthy and he can win on time versus ryad.  What exactly is your current list anyway? Comm relay and autothristers range 3 on Poe would help deter rac shots... Dash can range control with the help of rocks and peck at the defender unless it's on the far side of rac at which point you can pounce on rac.

It's not easy but it can be beat with piloting. Rock placement will be key.

  3. I looked at what you're about... And I created something I would like to see flown. I call it.... Missile Biggs:

Guri - Attani Mindlink, Autothrusters, curvy roll title - 30

    Thweek - FCS, title, title - 28

Manaroo - Attani, tactical jammer, Punishing One, Intel agent

This list is pretty versatile but focuses on Manaroo's ability to pass red target locks. You can fly Guri behind Manaroo and force all non-deadeye missile shots to go at double focus, 4 green dice, autothruster Guri. I also really like the synergy of being able to pass focus to Thweek with Mannaroo and have Guri get her the focus back. It should give the action economy to use those barrel rolls and hit intelled enemies hard.

  4. Quickdraw might be at the top of the meta IMO. It hits multiple notes by being an ace, being fairly sturdy, and trading well.  Fire-control system + Targeting synchronizer is worth building lists around. You can fire in the combat phase for a target lock allowing others to focus fire with missiles.

Defenders look good to me right now as well.  They've got health/evade to enter combat against missile carriers and the ability to turn around and follow post engagement.

More than any meta advice, fly what you like and get good at flying it. A lot of things can work right now if you know the ins and outs of the list. Take advantage of that. Asteroids and how you engage really matter right now. Flying against missiles... Where do you want them to be when you engage? Can you use their formation to draw one ship out of position? Are there certain lists you need to play a certain way against?

From what it sounds like you can build a list in the midrange PS - above deadeye carriers (although with that ruling what ship doesn't consider deadeye?) and below aces - but with far more health and damage output. I like the Vader-Inqy-Jax list idea but some games will have to be a piloting masterclass. You also have the ability to bring overwhelming firepower with missiles.

Im intrigued? What national was this? What was the list?

This was posted by dodging arcs in the national thread(New Zealand national):

    Paul was running

Assaj - Latts Razzi and PTL

Thweek - both titles, FCS and Autothrusters

Contracted Scout - Trick Shot, Rigged Cargo and Intel Agent

    99pts

Paul ran a lot of Parattanni so it’s a lot of the same pieces. Thweek is more or less a Sustained Fire Ace similar to Fenn but not as dangerous. The Intel Scout and Assaj are really just parts of the toolkit you use as necessary.

    I came 2nd with

Darth Vader - VI, Title, ATC, Engine

Quickdraw - VI, Title, FCS, LWF, Pattern Analyser

    OGP - Palp, Collision Detector

    100pts

it was a pretty tough final. I feel like Paul’s list has the tools to beat my list but I did manage to find a win condition halfway through the match. Unfortunately Vader couldn’t punch through Assaj fast enough to get to a cat and mouse endgame against Thweek where Vader would have won at time.

I tried really hard to get a win for the Imperials this Nationals season but alas, it was not to be. Paul is a great opponent though and we play each a lot, but he is definitely on a roll at the moment.

From playing my list a lot I have to say I really don’t like the Palp LWF interaction. I know that it isn’t super clear in the FAQ but we played it at this tournament that you Palp the 2 or the 1 and ca only change the dice you Palp before. What I dong like about the interaction is the high level of gambling involved. The change to Palp is fine, and knowing when to use Palp is interesting from a game standpoint, but the way that these two cards currently interact takes away good choice for a Palp player and just makes it all bad choice, which makes me super reluctant to actually use Palp on either roll. This is most noticeable against TLT (which I faced a lot in this tournament). To be clear I’m not really talking about whether the ruling/clarification is bad or good, just that as a player it’s actually immensely frustrating chasing Palp in LWF. If all 3 LWF dice were rolled at the same time it would be much less so.

Also unsurprisingly I faced Turrets in every single game (all 9). It’s rough, but doable.

The rest of the top 8

    3rd

Dash - Lone Wolf, Rey, Counter Measures, Title, HLC

Lothal Rebel - Hera, Autoblaster, Gunner, FCS

    4th

    Dormitz - Hyper Wave Comm

Quickdraw and Backdraft with Hyperwave, Cruise Missiles and a bunch of other upgrades I’m not totally sure of. But suffice to say this list would jump you right at the start and maul you. Most people couldn’t escape it.

    5-8

Rey - Expertise, Sloop Title, Kanan, Finn

Miranda - 3p0, TLT, Bomblet, LRS

Torkil - TLT, Greedo, Moldy Crow Title

2x Lok Revenant - Deadeye, Harpoons, EM, GC, Autoblaster Turret

Biggs, Lowrick, Jess, Rex. Standard FSR, Lowie has Tactician.

And the one list I didn’t see was Thweek, Lok revenant and something else which might have been a Khirazx.

So lots of variety in the top 8 which is good. We had 18 Rebel, 13 Imperial and 12 Scum start day one and ended with 3/2/3 in the top 8.

    Definitely a fun tournament.

  6. So here's some possibilities:

    1. He's right. Scum sucks now. (I think this is pretty objectively absurd)

    2. He's wrong and doesn't realize it.

    3. He's wrong and doesn't care to realize it.

A lot of people playing this game (and others) fall into the 3rd category and it is a difficult subject to broach. When faced with blaming themselves or blaming circumstance, people tend to blame circumstance - especially in the moment.  Many people don't embrace the introspection that is required in these games to get better and instead choose to point at the game itself for why things don't work.

If your friend falls in category 2, time heals all wounds. He can be convinced of the truth. If your friend falls into category 3... To what extent? Is he a rager? Does he tend to tilt and have trouble managing his emotions or expectations? If rage is an issue, is he more reasonable while not playing? If yes, build lists out loud with him. Talk over strengths, weaknesses, tendencies....

...Though seeing the attitude towards proxies is concerning. From my experience people who think this tend to have the attitude that he payed, you should have to as well. They can't get past that someone else could get for free what they have paid for... It's selfish.

  7. I don't know that there's any scum list set above the rest right now.  There's a lot of mixxing and matching to taste in that faction right now with new mid-point options in starvipers and khirax. Scurggs are well valued, robust ships that I think have a firm spot in the meta.  Deadeye missile platforms abound - again giving you a lot of price point and customization options. I've heard of ion brobots - I love the idea but I've yet to see them in action. The shadowcaster is really favorably costed for the faction but it doesn't play well with every ship. Double shadowcaster may be a thing.

There was a recent national winner using Thweek, shadowcaster and a jumpmaster.

Dash/X and Miranda/Nym feel like the only top tier lists that will end games before you can realize what happened. So to me, that says design a scum list good against them. Deadeye missiles seem great. I think a lot of lists will want to be able to raze a target in two ship lists.

  8. Ughhh... Tried to link a thread I made and ended up with this... I also copied and pasted the actual list below that... But yeah, swarm leader is good on Quickdraw. Targeting synchronizer is fantastic as well. This is the strongest alpha strike I've ever played with or against:

    "Quickdraw" (29) 40

     Swarm Leader (3)

     Fire-Control System (2)

     Cruise Missiles (3)

     Targeting Synchronizer (3)

     Special Ops Training (0)

     Guidance Chips (0)

    Sienar Test Pilot (16) 20

     Cruise Missiles (3)

     TIE/v1 (1)

     Guidance Chips (0)

    Sienar Test Pilot (16) 20

     Cruise Missiles (3)

     TIE/v1 (1)

     Guidance Chips (0)

    Sienar Test Pilot (16) 20

     Cruise Missiles (3)

     TIE/v1 (1)

     Guidance Chips (0)

  9. Upsilon-class Shuttle

    Major Stridan (32) 43

     Advanced Sensors (3)

     Intelligence Agent (1)

     General Hux (5)

     Kylo Ren's Shuttle (2)

    3x TIE Striker

    Imperial Trainee (17) 19

     Adaptive Ailerons (0)

     Lightweight Frame (2)

You can do some really shifty things with Strikers. Their movement with Hux support is great as you can token up or swoop around into unexpected spots. Intel agent and Kylo Ren's shuttle locate and limit enemy ships. Advanced Sensors makes the Hux immune to bumping.

  10. Okay, so I got to play this list the other day against Rey(Finn)-Poe(bb-8 intensity).  I set up center table and he set up to his right along the edge.

Turn 1 I 2/3 bank and barrel roll left as he goes straight up the table edge around asteroid 1.

Turn 2 I 4/5 forward the sienars - no range so focus. He turns his two PS 8s towards me and ends up range 2/3 from the sienars. 1 straight Quickdraw and focus for defense.

Combat - He sees focus on my four ships and decides to save glitterstim on Rey. Quickdraw shoots first at Rey - blanks but takes target lock from FCS. He shoots a range two sienar which rolls 3 evades twice in a row against 4 and then 3 hits.  The 3 Sienars then unload their 5 dice cruise missiles for 5 hits each using focus+chips. Rey uses Finn and Refills to survive with 2 hull remaining.

He called it there with the YT nearly down and my list near untouched. Lucky defensive rolls aside, this alpha strike is ridiculous. Even had he PS killed the sienar, it's an easy trade to make for hitting Rey hard. This feels like a pretty strong list.

Have you flown one since the latest FAQ?

I would wager more than half the issue with swarms is the number of people willing to actually put them on the table. Last time I saw a full fledged swarm in person it won a 60+ person event.

What was the list? When was it?

I'd say that's a little more points than I would want to spend on Thweek, given the uncertainty of his ability.

There's no uncertainty. He's an ace. The failsafe way to play him is to have a bid greater than your opponent and he will always go after their highest PS.

  13. I don't know about dominant, but Thweek does seem like an adequate check on high PS aces. Dominant makes me think of something that dictates how the entire match is played. I don't think Thweek can be that punishing - he's a more reactive ship.

Dash seems like the ship set up to be dominant. Kiting has been established as a strong strategy and he's the epitome of it.

    Thweek will be the meta

I think he's going to be a significant part of it.

Imperial high PS is currently a thing. Thweek will be good against them. If Thweek is good enough, a significant portion of Imperials will bail from the PS race in favor of firepower/durability.

Superiority fighters are being given their opening.  Not by any one single change but more so the cavalcade of changes caused by the meta re-organizing. They have a chance against most anything.

I don't think it's too big a stretch to suggest Quickdraw in particular will be rising to the very top of the usage charts.

I also think we're going to see a big uptick in imperial missile lists as cruise and harpoon drop.

  15. ^A kitted out Nym is committed to kiting. That Poe flanks anything with a lower PS. Each is a fantastic closer and the long game will favors him.

Adding a 3rd ship simply offers an MOV target - and one that can be PS killed at that. If your opponent targets that third ship, you must commit your aces to help or concede the advantage. Knowing that, your opponent can leverage that 3rd ship into quality opportunities on your Aces. This is why we've seen a decline in the throw in ship.

The one exception to adding a 3rd ship here would be Ashoka with VI in a captured tie. Without looking at the numbers to see if it's points-viable, you could potentially pair down nym/Poe and use Ashoka to pass actions and arc dodge at combat.... But this is all tangential.

The cruise + plasma suggestion is so you could potentially range control an opening against a lower Ps.... ghost for example. I still think Ptl arcdodging will save you more damage, even vs turrets.

  16. I would drop APT on Poe for Plasma Missiles. They make him stronger at range - 4 die attack, no range bonus, extra shield gone vs tanks - while APT only adds 1 die at range 1.

With Those extra points, change intensity to PTL. You don't have comm relay to stack evades since primed thrusters are great for bb-8. PTL will let you boost after your barrel roll and before your maneuver so you can wildly change where Poe is going - this is invaluable against multiple ship lists. It will also let you target lock + focus without ending stressed. This way if Poe is ever ignored he can punish them.

Keep any extra points for bid which you absolutely must have. That Poe cannot win moving after other aces - Num will have to focus any of them down before lategame.

Nym looks good but I would go with cruise missiles.
