I recently was able to head back to the store to buy some 1 new expansions... Went in for an Arquittens, they had none, and came back out with a Pelta and a U-wing.

Overall, this was a very fun ship to paint (but the front for some reason is lacking in quality.) Originally I was gonna paint it as an older re-purposed medical frigate with lingering Republic markings, much like the ARC-170 for X-wing. But of course I painted it like Phoenix Home cause I lack originality. Maybe if I buy a second Pelta or actually feel like stripping the paint off of this one, I'll get around to doing that scheme.

My Rebel fleet has grown a lot over the past year. It now contains 3 CR-90s, 3 Hammerheads, a Nebby, an MC-80, a Pelta, and 5 squadrons of fighters. My Imperial fleet is going to need some love soon.

Well you won't have to wait for very long Mel. Thanks for your hard work on these too!
I was too excited to get to paint that I ended up staying awake for most of the night. Call me crazy if you want, but it was worth it. All 3 Hammerheads are mostly finished. I may want to go back in to fix up some things my tired eyes can't see right now.
Unfortunately my regular camera is vacationing at a relative's right now, so my not so decent, unflattering phone camera will have to do.

First up is the Lightmaker, famous for her selfless act of __________ __ ___ __ ___________ in Rogue One.

Next is the Valor. Based on the scheme of Transport P3 from Rebels, though not entirely a carbon copy.

Finally is the Abolition, my favorite of the bunch. I wanted to stray away from the warmer colors we've been seeing on Hammerheads currently. It's a bit blotchy in some areas, this dark green was really hard to work with and it's still not perfect.

I'm sure there's also somebody out there who wants to know how big these things are. Here is one next to a CR-90. They're roughly the same size (the Hammerhead is a tiny bit shorter]. A word of caution as well, don't get these with black acrylate. The bottom sections on all 3 of mine had bumps almost resembling hives. It took about 1-2 hours of exactoing, sanding and washing to get a semi smooth surface. The results, however, almost feel like the FFG plastic, so it may be a tiny bit rewarding.

Since i recently started doing ships for Armada as well as X Wing i thought id start a thread for them. My newest the Quason-C Escort cruiser. based n the Nebulon series hull, loosely,
The Quason-C is the base model used as its name suggests in the escort role but also capable of being used as a strike or patrol craft. Also in the line is the 'D' Strike carrier and the 'E' Ion Tempest with a converted V-150 ion cannon as its only weapon other than a few anti fighter guns. It relies on escorts for protection but its value should be clear. Im quite pleased with how it came out, It only arrived today so the paint is a simple base primer coat. Im currently adding a socket to the bottom

Close up on the turrets, they really make this model pop.

Of course they are all only 90-95% done as I'm physically incapable of finishing something before starting a new project....

This topic has moved under the now named Rebel Cell topic, Cobalt Cell.
This is due to me having to delete the photos for uploads, and collate the topics.

Back after a year of absence and it seems that this channel has been reinstated.
I think I may want to reorganise all my repaints onto this thread and give a proper narrative to it.
I'll pretty much reshoot all my stuff and post it again here.
Though let this be a place holder first.

By no means comprehensive, and I have another ISD "in the oven" for completion:
X13 - Crimson Command - primed white then handbrushed Vallejo Game Gory Red, washed with a 1:1:10 mix of black ink, brown ink, water.  Considering adding running lights in yellow & white to this.

    Old Republic relic Victory:

Mini-slice fleet - I like how the "Imperial Star Destroyer White" contrasts with the others, local forces don't have the budget to go slapping paint all over everything, after all:

ISD Dark Side - various Vallejo Game greys, the darker segments washed in a heavy (1:5) red ink/water mix.  Gives it a really sinister feel, which I like.

    ISD Battlefleet:

The uniformity of scarring is slightly deliberate - I imagined the effects of twin-linked strafing, and the broadside of an MC80 head-on (which is what almost killed this beast and along with TheToad's MC80 battledamage was the inspiration for mauling this monster.
From that post on TheToad's thread:
Painting done first - my usual ISD white, followed by successive layers of grey (mostly dark/blue greys), followed by black ink for the main scar, followed by the tip of a triangular file held over a candle.
Candle important because it'll never get hot enough to anneal (soften) the steel, triangle important because you get a choice of shape/depth of melt.  You can spin it to create a widening on narrowing scar.

This is the inverse of my "Imperial Star Destroyer White" technique, which looks great in daylight but my camera hates.
To do the white:  Spray in Vallejo Cold Grey.  Ink wash (1:10 black ink to water).  Dry overnight.  Recolour panels carefully with Wolf Grey.  Apply a 75% highlight from the bottom in Ghost Grey.  Apply a 25% highlight from the bottom in Glacier Blue.  Gives a really strong 'Rogue One' white feel.

Here the inverse is achieved, pre-washing with a red/black mix ala ISD Dark Side - the washes are definitely necessary on the darker colours to blend them in together, in the white I haven't found it necessary - all my "non local" death triangles get the white treatment, from Light Cruiser up.  Interested to see how it'll look on the Quasar Fire.
For the greys here, an undercoat of black primer, a general overcoat of Heavy Charcoal, and a 25% highlight in heavy blue/grey.  I like the heavy pigment paints when working on the darker side, they overcome the background where you need them to, and thin quite nicely to a glaze too.

Some more final shots... these are post clear coat. Like, still wet from being applied . Anyways, the Firespray was from an old batch, so that's straight up sharpie, but I forgot to wash and clear coat it. Everything else was recent. The Phantoms are lazy (flat black with random speckles of white), and the shuttle was so easy for how nice it turned out. The Decimator needs something I think, but I'm not upset with the results. As soon as the bases dry up, I'll take some more finished shots.

The technique is a lot quicker on the small ships: I think an ISD takes me something like 3 or 4 hours?  I tend to have very small free time gaps- I imagine I could get it done faster if I just plopped myself down and forced myself to be methodical.  That reminds me... time to start on my wave 3+ ships... whew!
In lower/redder light, the ships look much more proper grey- they only look that white in diffuse sunlight (in my tutorial you can see a pic under flourescent white light for the part where I talk about edge highlighting- still brighter than FFG, but much greyer)  For whiter ships, use less weathering.
