  1. Yes and? Donel said Lovecraft wasn't a good writer and people jump out of the woodwork to defend him. I guess I don't belong in this community.
  2. His stories are certainly open to criticism, all stories are. It's easy to judge older stories by today's standards. Many of the things we consider cliche were new ideas at the time. But saying he wasn't a very good writer is nonsense. Lovecraft's ability to evoke a setting, mood or feeling is legendary. LOL OK I'm outa here.
  3. It saddens me that we don't have a true Lovecraft game but you are right, Elder Sign did Alaska instead which has absolutely nothing to do with Lovecraft which proves FFG doesn't take the mythos very serious. And Egypt is probably more marketable to the general public.
  4. Lovecraft's actual work IS the setting. This is not Indiana Jones the card game. It's first and foremost about Lovecraft's stories. I am sure we will get an Egypt themed cycle at some point and I look forward to it but it's inaccurate to suggest it's more important a setting than Antarctica in the mythos. MoM is regarded as one of the greatest weird fiction tales ever written while Under the Pyramids was a commission and really quite a silly story.
  5. Mountains of Madness is one of Lovecraft's most famous stories. Certainly more significant than his throw-away Houdini commission.
  6. There is no reason to limit your deck building pool. The pack the player cards are released in is completely arbitrary. The game is designed to use any cards for any scenario.
  7. Being at the printer doesn't mean it is being printed, it's just a term to estimate it's release date. It was printed and shipped long ago. I think it's safe to say you won't find spoilers here.
  8. No, you can only use a sing source of + per test. The sledgehammer gives +2 during combat encounters. Or +1 during a non combat test. No, you can only use a sing source of + per test. You can only use a single source of + per test. But and are separate tests. So yes +2 from the sword and +5 from the gun. You can also use their other abilities. You can use the reroll ability separately from each card. yes Yes correct
  9. I just finished Carnivale of horror in 10 minutes. It wasn't the best resolution but the games complete.
  10. I wonder if we will be able to use these new encounter sets in all scenarios now to make them a bit harder. That is if theres an alternate version of rats, ghouls etc..
  11. That's fine. I don't see him as as strictly a guardian. In Eldritch Horror, Elder Sign, Mansions of Madness and Arkham Horror, combat is always his primary attribute. I don't think it's a stretch for him to dabble in the guardian class.
  12. Monterey Jack would be perfect. Like Indiana Jones he is part Seeker (professor), Mystic (esoteric knowledge), Guardian (uses guns and good in a fight) and Rogue (doesn't do things by the book). Trish seems like a straight up seeker/rogue to me.
  13. Oh I suppose I could have check the link you provided.
  14. That's really cool. how did you make it?
  15. This has got to have something to do with the campaign mode and the cults are the thread tying each game together.
  16. I never said the owed me anything. A couple posts up I said there is no reason not to buy two cores. It's still wasteful.
  17. Yup, Blame FFG for their extremely wasteful release model. They should have sold core booster packs with just investigator cards included.
  18. So what were those reasons? Dealing with any extra cards? They sit in a small box in my closet if I need an extra card for a replacement or to proxy something.
  19. What is special about these locations (and Faculty Offices from Extracurricular Activity) is that they have subtitles underneath the location title where the keyhole normally would be. So instead of adding a keyhole underneath they opted to just leave it out unfortunately.
  20. It's a design decision (or oversight), and in my opinion a very poor one. There is no benefit or purpose for lacking this icon. I should not have to spoil a card for myself to put it in play.
  21. There is no reason not to have 2 cores unless you can't afford it.
