- Giant model, seemingly even bigger than I had hoped. (FFG, please get a tape measure by that thing tomorrow)
- It comes with both two thematic insanely overpowered versions for the fluffy players and two tournament balanced versions for the competitive players. Star Wars geeks get to unleash the full power of an SSD, tournament players get to actually use their giant ship (unlike X-Wing).
- There are eight cards in there that were previously only available from Rebel only expansions. Imperial exclusive players not only get their biggest toy, they also won't have to buy all those Rebel ships in the future.
- There's zero cards that aren't available to Rebels in other expansions. Everything is either unique, in an existing Rebel expansion...or Flight Controllers. So Rebel exclusive players are saved a big ticket item (after they ebay Flight Controllers)
- Not one but two commanders that the community has been asking for since the game came out.
The only strike against it is the price. It's about $50 more than I realistically hoped it would be and I know locally it's going to be a struggle for a sizeable portion of the community to afford. But I'd much rather have it at $50 more than I wanted than not and, hey, I was willing to buy a $50 ISD four times and this thing looks like it's at least as much plastic as those are.Very well said, to add to it:
-Armada is alive for a good while. You don't spend months playtesting a model and developing two different variants (epic/casual + tournament) for a game you are about to scrap.
-From the looks of it they did cards perfectly. There are no new or must have upgrades as they are all reprints. Only new cards are titles and officers which is completely fair. Therefore, if you are a rebel only play there is no need to buy. Even as an empire player if you cant afford it you only give up a few officers and commanders.
- $200 is very reasonable for a model of this scale. Other SSD's on the market go for $400-600. This comes with model, cards, templates and balanced for a game.

Played this last night. Worked out pretty good. The one problem is the Rebels deployed at distance 3 from their edge adn speed 3. However, they were still unable to start taking shots till turn 4/5. So next time I will need to make sure I put the station more to the middle or allow them to deploy further up.
Either way it was a learning game for 2 friends and they had fun. Would recommend.
I reduced the number of fighters to 10 on table for empire and 8 for rebels. Easily enough or else it slows even more.

ISDs with Sloane are popular, though most popular is just a single ISD (Avenger 100% of the time, usually with BTs though sometimes just relying on Slaone's squadrons to flip tokens in order to maintain Gunnery Team). Raddus with some mix of MC75/Liberty/MC30 is also popular, but hasn't won as many big events as people were predicting.Thanks! Going to play my first game again tonight. Hey guys,
I put armada on an about one year break (left right after I got Sloan and 2 HH’s) but getting back into it. I bought the two new expansions and looking forward to getting back into it. Just curious about a few meta questions. I am loving to read the 3 ISD thread but curious about 2 ISD’s. What is the consensus on those lists, 2 ISDII or 2 Cymoons? Also what do the list look like? Add 2 Goz?
Also, I had a super fun MSU 3 shrimp (MC30’s) list but are those lists dead now?

Thanks for the replies, yea I was looking at it again. I am tempted to drop Wedge and one Y-wing and add two x-wings. The squads needs some playing around with. I find in our meta there are lots of ties and interceptors which I thought Tien Numb would be good against but have not tried him.
How are the ships, am I missing any major upgrades or should anything be on a different ship. I think I will make the comms net flotilla my lifeboat.

If I add H9 to admo should I just put H9's on everything instead then? Or just remove the XI7's completely. And add some more squads? Just
Also what about the objectives? I was thinking intel sweep and having my one flotilla be the runner with Quantum storm. Then escort it with a MC30 or the TRC90 depending what they choose.
Also, skilled first officers look awesome but I don't have any (Liberty is only ship I dont own) and the two ebay sellers I looked at were sold out. Wish those rapid re loaders were SFO's!!

Just as the the title says, I have seen lots of posts about MC30's and their aggressive power. Anyways, they seem like lots of fun and interested in maybe trying it out, I currently own one but thinking of going to 3. I have seen 4 being used but sure I am as much of a fan of that. I did a forum search and couldn't find to many links to strategy articles. I did read one from Gink awhile ago but can't find it now.

For our meta the average activation is 4-5 so getting 6 would give me an extra activation the majority of the time. Additionally, no one else is really pushing for first player. The average bid is 3-6, in local tournaments I would like to bring 8-9 tho. In terms of squads the one squad does hurt. We have 6 players, 1-2 will bring a decent bomber wing with the rest bring more of a strong fighter wing.
I am tempted to add Shara Bey but not certain what to take out. By biggest questions in terms of builds are TRC90 and the XI7's.
I have read the cannot get your ship article on MC30's but curious if there is anything on how to attack/deploy - thanks!

I have Most Wanted, Planetary Ion Cannons, and Minefields. I wish I had switched minefields to Solar Corona. but, we started before I realised how strong that is. It works even better if one of the Arq's is a TRC Needa as you can double ark and be more confident that there wont be an accuracy for the one Redirect.

How important are squadrons the first game? I was thinking of running only a 60point screen but worried that squadrons will be more powerful then non upgraded ships due to then not relying on upgrades.

So how could they do Clone Wars in Armada?

I hope they do Clone wars. I have 2-3 friends that will buy in if they do. Also, I know enough people in the younger generation prefer that Clone war era to GCW. The movies are not better, but between the Clone wars cartoon and the overall big picture lots of people like the time better. Lots of people watched Ep1-3 before 4-6, especially if they were being released when growing up.
