Rimsen reacted to Mad Cat in Will we ever get a squadron with a salvo defense token?
Some ace squadrons have begun to appear with evade defense tokens. They would have been pretty useless apart from long-medium range flak but the new v1.5 changes to the evade token means they are reasonably useful.
Could we see an ace squadron with a salvo token in the future?
It would be the equivalent of counter that could attack squadrons with the normal anti squadron armament and could also attack an enemy ship with the battery armament that uses flak against the ace. It would only take a small rule change to allow a squadron to use salvo with he standard anti ship or anti squadron armaments rather than the rear arc battery.

The Venator will be the first ship that is not a huge to have 6 defense tokens.
All of them will be Salvo.

Rimsen reacted to Edgehawk in Reach of the Empire IC
When the ISB officers open the secure door to the operating theater, they are appalled by the carnage. Visibility in the room is not great, with particles in the air still floating about, but a steady beeping sound can be heard from the far corner.
Out in the corridor, Luks nearly leaps out of his litter, as the creature he had stomped down begins to rise up, unsteadily onto its mangled, chitinous legs. Its shell seems to be rapidly self-repairing, healing over, its limbs untwisting like some macabre chittering dance upon the deck.

Though I haven't been part of your game for a long time, thank you for including me. It was a pleasure.
I'm here until the end

Always remember you are not alone at the table. Your players will manage their own things if you are clear about that at the start. You can always ask for help tracking initiative or other things. It's not your whole job to run the game

Following a brief panic, I’ve come to the strange realization that... I’m kinda done with Star Wars- for now at least. I still think it’s unconscionable that this resource is going to just disappear, but I don’t really need it anymore.
In 1977, I was a five year old boy, and the original Star Wars trilogy played a huge role in my childhood. In 2015, I had a five year old son of my own, to experience The Force Awakens with, and revisit the other offerings of the franchise. I picked up an FFG beginner set, and started role playing with him, while he played with his action figures. This forum helped me tremendously in learning the system.
Most recently, my son has taken an interest in Dungeons & Dragons, a game I haven’t played since 2nd edition. I tried to turn him to Genesys, because I love the narrative dice, but he is too interested in the lore. He is ten now, and I have never seen him so interested in reading, as he is with these game books. Familiarizing myself with the phb and dmg, 5e surprisingly seems pretty decent.
The truth is, TLJ and RoS kind of flopped with us. Watchable, certainly, but we have not watched and rewatched them the way we have the other movies. The Disney Plus shows are something to look forward to, but I think we’re finished with childhood movies and action figures.
I suppose it will be hex grids and miniatures for us, for the foreseeable future, so it looks like I will be revisiting another franchise from my youth. I have a new set of rules to learn, so my gaming time will be better spent elsewhere.
As for these PBPs I’m running here, I do not want to just abruptly quit, but the end is in sight. We will be building to a climax in these next five weeks, and drawing to a conclusion, which should coincide (more or less) with the last days of this forum. I understand that knowing the game is ending might effect engagement, but I hope you will all stick with it to the end.
Thank you all for playing with me, and may the force be with you.

You're in luck!
There are four different "beginner's kits" available to help you run your first game. They are each set up to guide you through the basic rules and mechanics as you play out the adventure.
The kits come in a box and include an introductory adventure, pre-gen characters, maps, tokens, and a set of dice.
After the introductory adventure, you can dig into the FFG site to download the follow up adventure and more pre-gen characters.
After that, if you and your friends enjoyed it, you can break out the core rulebook for the non-basic rules and character creation stuff and hit the hyper lanes running.

Rimsen got a reaction from thestag in Independent Star Wars Armada/X-wing/Legion Forum
BoardGameGeek has forums for the games (I started there myself when I found Armada). They were not very popular or up to date then (though I learnt a great deal from @Norsehound's guides).
However it's established, convenient and stable.

...and note that within forum sections, you can sort (upper right corner) by 'hot' (popularity of threads), 'recent' (when it started) or 'active' (latest posts).
TONS easier to post images there, too! Hope to see y'all over there...

Updated Madine. Like 2 sentences about him, he still hasn't changed since the Raddus nerf. The Evade change helps him alright, but he's still kinda outclassed by Raddus. I wish he was better or even had a points reduction, but we get what we get.
Pelta - a bit more about how it's a good ship, as much as us and Steel Strategy keep proselytizing to you all. some more on how to run it, but the builds are still similar.
Sato - procedural, no major changes since he only changed points. Oh, i was a lot more hesitant on recommending you use Malee, because, well, (gestures at Malee).
i'm traveling the rest of the day, but should be able to hit more of these tonight (maybe) and the rest of this week.
