Maybe this is just me, but I don't like battle meditation on Ani at all. Too many points to put into an Ace to provide support to lower-level ships. The lower-level ships should be the ones supporting the Ace (ie palp crew/Ashoka/Sinker and Jag). You're better off with the Delta title on him along with a droid and forcing your opponent to choose to chase him down or go through your Arcs first.

Since you gain a force charge back in the end phase, the only time this would happen is if you have SupNat and use your last force charge on it or using Saesee’s ability before they move.

If you’re taking QD, FCS is important to have so I’m leaning toward #2 of what you have there. Fanatical and FCS makes her super scary even after her ability is gone. Recoil is pretty fun as well.

R4 is great because it opens up the dial after sloops/k-turns. That blue hard one after a sloop is nice. Not to mention it can be helpful if your opponent puts stress on you as well. It’s just good for its value of 2 points. I’ve also found that since the new gas clouds only cost you an action, doing red moves through them basically comes with no consequences. It’s almost a pseudo strategy since we’re all so used to avoiding obstacles. I got a second game in where I was able to keep Ani fully shielded by using R2 and having Plo pull the disarm off him.

Finally got to put this on the table today. Faced off against a Kylo/QD/FO build. I had the bid so that was really handy in this game. Gave him initiative. I ended up winning with only losing Plo. Ani and Obi Wan each only took one hit. I will say my opponent wasn't the best Kylo flyer ever and used autothursters too much which made next round moves easier to predict. A few takeaways: Fined Tuned Controls is amazing. Even in the opening round, being able to boost/barrel roll depending on your opponent's opening moves is highly beneficial. I avoided a really round joust with QD by shifting directions after the opening turn. And since you don't usually fire on the fist turn you don't have to worry about spending a force charge; you'll just get it right back. I didn't have trouble lining up bullseye arcs. At all. Granted, his Kylo got caught in some bad spots that made his moves predictable so that helped. Plo is a handy wingmate for Anakin. Since Anakin is going to be using FTC a lot to set up that bullseye, having Plo feed him a focus to keep his Force from depleting worked out. He was also there to take the disarm from Ani if he used R2, but I ended up not losing a shield until after Plo got taken out. I didn't use Obi Wan's ability once. It's a little underwhelming. I pretty much just made use of his i5 and Force charges; that's about it. I'm thinking if I make a change to the pilots, it'd be Obi-Wan for Ashoka or Mace Windu. But an i5 with 3 Force charges is nasty enough by itself that I want to keep him for a few more games. I still have a lot of playing to do before knowing if this is a good list. It was one game, and it was not the best performance by my opponent, who I usually have tough matches against.

Anakin and Obi-Wan: bad idea or the worst idea?

How many games have you played with it to make this statement? Genuinely curious. -
Anakin and Obi-Wan: bad idea or the worst idea?

I'd drop Heightened Percpetion from Ani. He's already i6 so he's at the top of the shooting order. Even if he's destroyed by another i6, he'll have the simultaneous fire rule on his side. With the spare points, it might be worth upgrading HP on the other two to predictive shot. A) with CLT, you're already needing to line up bullseye shots, and B) it makes their two-die primary a little more likely to deal damage. If you're rolling two dice, and adding a focus, it's possible you still only have one or two hits, even in Bullseye, so predictive shot can help you against high agility ships. That still gives you 197 points, which is a decent bid. Just something to consider. Other than that, as you said, there's a great deal of variety on any three named pilots for the Sprites. Just gotta find what works for you. -

I'm with you. I'm opting for CLT on my Sprites as well to focus on that bullseye firing. With a bid and high initiative, it's still going to be difficult but not impossible to get bullseyes consistently. But honestly, I think if you want to be amazing at flying them you should go with a leaner version to fit three of them in a list. You'll learn their behavior more by flying a higher number of the ship than the lower number of the ship. For reference, here's my Triple Sprites list -
He’s expensive but also incredibley tough to pin down. The goal is to keep dancing around the board. He’ll draw a ton of pressure off the others but he’s hopefully slippery enough to keep distance and stay alive. Looking at it now, while the actions after red moves are nice, R4 might be better to keep the dial open after red moves. But pairing him with Ani isn’t bad as Ani will likely get more attention than Mace.

I’m a little disappointed in Mace being i4. I feel like it’s a rough spot to be in if you’re looking to fly Aces but it’s still expensive like an Ace. One advantage though is it drives down the cost of SNR and his ability lets him gain a force back from SNR on red manauvers. At the end of the day, 3 force tokens gives you a lot to work with. Here’s an attempt to place him alongside other I4s who have decent abilities albeit situational ones. I don’t *love* Palp on Wolffe, but he can coordainte a BR/TL to Kickback who can then dial up a blue to clear the stress. Or give Windu an evade or focus to keep from running out of Force tokens. Yeah honestly that list doesn’t need to worry about a bid at all given you’re likely to see a lot of Anakin, Poe, and QD for a while.
-
Veteran Tail Gunner on Wollfe. Sure it won’t trigger much, but when it does you’ll have two decently modified attacks.

The 58 point conundrum. Wullffwarro with Leia or ...?
kempokid replied to MatCauthonReborn's topic in X-Wing Squad Lists
Something acey at i4 is gonna be tough but I’d recommend Kullbee. Fun ability that gives you options. You can boost in and flip your s-foils to keep your primary attack all the way up. Or leverage the torps. Torps can be dropped for other upgrades on the others if you’d prefer. T-65 X-wing - •Kullbee Sperado - 59 •Kullbee Sperado - Enigmatic Gunslinger (48) Predator (2) Adv. What other ships are part of the list? That would help determine what you need to complete it. I’d recommend Benthic in a U-Wing with Leia/Jyn. Still have points for additional upgrades too. -
My primary scum list right now is 4-LOM, Lando, and Asajj as well. Lots of options to throw stress around. 4-LOM is probably the best use case for it. Lots of value for its point cost. Adv Sensors means you can do an action, a red maneuver, and gain a calculate and potentially even lose the stress at the end of turn. The one agility die makes it easy to destroy however, but it has the health to soak up damage for a turn or two. Elusive is a decent consideration, but I'd warn you of putting too many upgrades on it. I use it more for a distraction than anything else. You can probably accomplish the same thing with just a generic Firespray with a few upgrades, though those are costed a little more. Also, keep in mind it's not hyperspace legal so that could be a factor in your decision making. It doesn't exactly fill a role that you're currently missing, but it's still a good ship.
-
Great find. Also worth bringing a Squad Leader Muse and slapping it on him if you don’t want to take an Upsilon.
-
I wish debris gambit was Hyperspace legal. That’s my favorite elite for Ten Numb.
-
It’s still a chance at rolling an evade vs guaranteed focus-to-hits. However, if you have PA then Elusive is a better option than without it.
-
This. And one of the biggest things you can do to help yourself here is rock placement. So simple but my gosh it helps. Last time I faced a multi-generic list we made two rows of three rocks all spread out. It was horrible for me. He took his squad anywhere he wanted them to go. If I would have been smarter I would have made him approach the middle of the board from an angle and I would have had better luck getting around them.
-
I struggle against lists like this. But I don’t want them to go away. I want to keep facing them because they challenge me to make better choices and to be a better flyer. That’s the thing with VTG: if you can arc dodge, then you don’t have to worry about getting shot at twice per round per ship.
-
Still hard to beat an i5 Force user with repositioning. It's kinda like Kylo. His ability is OK but more often than not, you shouldn't bother with it.
-
I'm going to advocate for the 5 straight templates until they fix it. Consider it a spring-loaded spare parts container.
-
^^ not sure what's up with the crazy amount of space and random numbers. Also, I can't edit the post. We (or I) broke the forums!

Though they don't come with the type of gimmicks the Separatists do, the pilot abilities for all the ships are really interesting to me and introduce new types of flying (ie support ships being on your sides). That and using Force abilities for the support I think will generate a whole new perspective of flying, despite not having new tools/tricks/upgrades/gimmicks.

So Republic is a thing now... First list approach
kempokid replied to argetlam58's topic in X-Wing Squad Lists
Totally get that. It does help with out of bullseye shots, as well as if you blank out and only have that one hit result from the modded focus result. I've leaned more towards Brilliant Evasion on Ani since he's expensive and is a potential first target priority for your opponent. It may help keep him mitigate some damage.
