  1. My first play through I was trounced in the "finale" mainly due to a poor choice of characters that left me with an unbalanced team. The second time through, with a far more balanced team stat-wise and knowing the basics of what I had to do, I won fairly easily, with only a couple of setbacks. (Sorry, trying to remain as vague as I possibly can :)). I would say the two stars can be deceptive (some of those mythos events are brutal) but compared to say Shattered Bonds, it is certainly a less taxing overall scenario on investigators.

  2. Again, this is an area I am not well versed in, but my understanding was that apple, amazon, google, etc. require as part of the business agreement that the seller not give apps or expansions (dlc) based on purchases made at other stores, the only exception to this requirement being Steam. At least it appears to be the problem Days of Wonder has run into with the Ticket to Ride App.

  3. While the RR mentions effects that make you forfeit an action I don't think it is changing what the meaning of the word forfeit means in a practical sense. Any unspent actions should be considered a forfeited action and treated the same as one caused by the evade checks. That's how we have been playing. Havn't had any issues with it yet.

Forfeit is a keyword effect that has a specific meaning within the game. It is best not to try and add alternate meanings to a keyword. It can have cascading implications on other effects.

If I were to implement a house rule, I would just have the monster rule also apply to investigators:

"Whenever an Investigator starts their activation in a space containing Fire or moves into a space containing Fire, they suffer one damage"

Doesn't this mess with the rule supplied in the rulebook that an investigator does not suffer damage if they successfully move out of the space with fire in it or perform an extinguish action? Like Vazzucious I've just been treating unspent actions as forfeited actions solely for this particular situation.

  4. My guess is there isn't a really good workaround for this and there isn't likely to be anytime in the near future. Cross platform issues have plagued DLC content for other Apps and games as the game developer is largely at the mercy of the platform creators to want to make cross platform downloads work, which for money reasons they usually don't. This is why in my case I have used steam for most of my downloadable content because this makes it accessible on multiple computers. I recognize of course that this doesn't fix wanting access to content on a tablet (Unless there's a steam tablet I'm unaware of). However, I must confess that my knowledge of technology is limited (it would be a two my stat sheet).

So I finally got enough evidence to escape from Innsmouth with the "good" ending.

Father Mateo, Preston Fairmont, Kate Winthrop and Ashcan Pete went in....only Father Mateo and Preston Fairmont came out.

Given that Preston's insane condition wasn't met (he had to clear all of the search tokens and there was literally no way left to do that by the time he went insane), that means that Father Mateo staying alive is the only reason I could still claim victory. I am surprised actually at how useful Father Mateo's skill was, by making sure he almost always used one of his actions to make another investigator focused it kept us out of a lot of desperate scrapes.

Unfortunately, escape was only achieved at the cost of a gifted scientist getting burned alive just as she was about to step onto the boat and Ashcan Pete getting ripped apart by an angry mob in order to buy everyone else time...which I guess means I also know what happened to Duke :( ....I'm not crying, you're crying!
