This is not the first time I've had this discussion, but I'll keep beating this wardrum because I'm a fan of the Shattered Empire comic.
Shara Bey murders TIEs every time she gets in a fighter cockpit. She isn't a squad leader; L'ulo is Green Leader after Endor. Shara takes a leadership role in the scene with the N-1's, but she still spends most of the battle taking on an Imperial squadron by herself. I think a strictly offensive ability would be much more thematic. Fluff and mechanics can coexist.

jmswood got a reaction from Conandoodle in Solo: A Star Wars Story [SPOILER THREAD]
I've seen it, and I stand by my predictions. "Solo: A Star Wars Story" is disservice in the form of too much fan service. The most important moments in Solo were better as vague references from the OT, better left to the imagination than exposed for the benefit of the unimaginative. We lost something in Solo that we will never get back.
That being said, we gained some good things in the process. The good gain does not outweigh the great loss. As a Star Wars story, Solo is good, but I will never stop wishing they told a new Star Wars story instead of a formulaic franchise prequel.

I would switch Rebel Captive to Lightweight Frame. Rebel Captive is a good stress source, but in this list you don't want to deter your opponent from attacking Rhymer. If your opponent leaves Rhymer alone to avoid Rebel Captive, then they are attacking your heavy hitter (Vessery) and your late game threat (OL) instead. Rhymer doesn't have the offense or mobility to finish for you, so don't give your opponent another reason to attack something else first.
Lightweight Frame leaves another point. I recommend VI for Vessery. Vessery thrives at the same PS as OL.

The F22 is a good real life comparison for the E-wing in X-wing miniatures. Too expensive to practical. Plagued with flaws. Missing key features that would make it survivable, reliable and iconic. Pilots refuse to fly it. The only thing that doesn’t match between the F22 and E-wing is aesthetics.
You and I have very different ideas of what this word means.
Sleek: (of an object) having an elegant, streamlined shape or design.
But they could have mounted more guns on either side of the fuselage without any of the problems you suggest, and without making the ship look like a mechanical unicorn.
I really do like the E-wing. The A+X=E design philosophy is an excellent starting point thematically. In X-wing Miniatures, some of my best games were with and against Corran. I wish the ship didn’t have a phallic protrusion that totally spoils the appearance. Putting the E-wing in a comic without doing something about the elongated brain tumor was a missed opportunity.

@Ambaryerno I wasn’t talking about visibility for the pilot. It doesn’t matter if the gun hinges, or the canopy slides forward. It’s space phantasy. It doesn’t have to make sense from an engineering perspective, but it should be aesthetically pleasing. It looks stupid, plain and simple.

A spinoff game would be short-lived and have a limited following. The best way for FFG to ensure sales of prequel products is to keep them in X-wing.
The common objections to Republic and CIS factions/subfactions lack imagination. Where you see barriers, I see unexplored design space. Republic and CIS can be their own factions, and the existing factions can get the content they deserve.
    Introducing: Dual Faction Pilot Cards
Pilot cards with a primary faction that defines most of its visual design, and an added secondary faction icon below the primary one. These pilots can be used by either of their factions.
Anakin and Obi can fly together in the Republic or against each other in the Empire and Rebellion.

You should do a search for my Madine builds and look them up.  Or anything I've posted Madine over the past 1.5 years.  I'd really end up repeating myself.  You almost have the original basic archetype down, though the upgrades are not really efficient yet.  The squadrons are especially very point inefficient, as Hera is a huge point sink if you cannot protect, which almost takes Jan/X-wings and 130 point squads to do.  Any more, I'm leaning toward just Tycho/Shara and try to do the rest on activations/ships, which you ought to be able to hit 6 activations as you do here.
Also, if you aren't seeing a lot of Slicer Tool protection in your area, then bringing Slicer Tools can really help shut down a big activation squadron game, and might be among the most useful abilities.
Your other option is cut combat ships and go down to 5 activations, but run 130+ points of anti-squadron (6 Awing, 4 YT2400), which can really chip down at light squadron lists and do the right kind of damage to ships.
I think the hard thing to gauge in the new meta is Raddus, but whereas he wants to trap a ship in and potentially double-arc a couple of targets, spreading the field with Madine and Jerry would seem like a natural counter, not to mention it may prove difficult to really box in a Madine Liberty that navs, and once that ship hits the board, it becomes possible to do your Madine thing and run it down.  Or at least that's my thinking.

I'm actually running an event this weekend (it's serving as our "not at Worlds" tournament) where among other list-building restrictions, PS is hard-capped at 9 (the other restrictions require lists to bring unique pilots with epts equipped, which makes for exactly the environment the hard-cap would affect).

I'm interested to see what people bring and how it goes.

Never Vong. Not even as a joke.
If you look at impact on the fanbase, TLJ and the Vong have a lot in common. The last thing Star Wars needs is more hugely divisive content.

I know every ship has fans, but even an E-wing fan has to admit the gun over the cockpit is one of the worst design features on any Star Wars ship, canon or not.
