  1. Are those Darth Vadar comics from dark horse still canon? They've got Vadar in an Eta-2 escorted by imperial Vwings which could give imperials a non-tie small ship.
  2. Thanks for the feedback everyone, I've updated the wording on some card images in the vulture and hyena posts following your suggestions. Wookipedia describes the hyena as being intended as a more manoeuvrable bomber, plus its mentioned to have done double duty as a fighter. I was deliberately going for very agile for a bomber (but still less than a vulture. Magpuls is meant to have the same token size and shape as the Seismic charge/proton bomb/ ion bomb. It probably is a little to good for 2 points, make it 3 or 4? The energy torpedoes are said to be dumb fire only, so i'd rather not have them require a target lock. IF general consensus is they would't be OP i'll drop the R2 extra defense dice. This is what I have so far for Punisher aces that I'd like opinions on. Just aces for the new pilots, only generic that would be worth adding would be an EPT one. But with no room on the upgrade bar I'm not sure. The idea with this is to give the Punisher and other bombers a defensive boost that doesn't use up the already contested modification slot. Basically a bomb sized flare that gets dropped to temporarily shroud the bomber. This is something that still needs work, was going to be a punisher only fix but become more general use and changed with some feedback from the CCL S2 announcement thread. This was my original idea for a Punisher fix, get the massive ordnance load onto the table. Thinking about it more recently though I'm not sure about going in this direction. While its probably fine on 1 punisher, 3 with this would probably be OP. letting you alpha strike 2 ships with say 3 homing missiles each on the first engagement. But i'll still put it up for consideration. edit: corrected some image links
  3. MY own version: By making it an "anyone can take this" system slot, it takes the narrative focus off "this is the punisher's thing" and onto "this is a cool thing Punishers can do. Ewings, Bwings, G1A, IG88, Lambadas, Upsilons, Tie SFs, even the Ghost can use this with their primary weapons, ghost can even use it with TLT, but they all roll an extra die. The punisher, as the only munition platform with a system slot, can use this with torpedos and missiles, which DONT grnt an extra green from super-long range. (because, y'know,, they track) It's not the entirety of any punisher fix, but it's an interesting start. giving it to turrets might be a bit much IMO. but a general use system seems fine. I'd deliberately left of it letting you targetlock beyond range 3 so it had to be paired with LRS instead of guidance chips to avoid making it overly strong (as well as the extra defense die even from ordnance). Still yours seems a better idea than mine and I'll probably run with something much like it.
  4. Got the Hyena bomber cards mocked up. Much of them is based on the Vulture droid, but slower and heavier. Analogous to the relationship between *** Fighter and Tie Bomber. So first the dial. Two generics. Uniques Upgrades First off something of a bombs fix idea to help their usefulness. Magpulse bomb Reference: When this bomb token detonates, each ship at Range 1 of the token receives 1 Weapons Disabled token. Then discard this token. This last one I'm iffy about (especially the dual card thats different types on different sides.) But I liked the idea of scum having more a jury rigged and customised ship option. Still got to figure out more for the Punisher aces, but I'll start mocking up what I have so far to get feedback. edit: updated image links
  5. I am huge Steve Jackson fan. I only know Phil from his discussions on the SJG Forum. I am a long time Car Wars player as well. I think he has taken inspiration from X-Wing for his next game because Car Wars 6E which will have a Kickstarter in 2017 (it was delayed from October 2016) will be like X-Wing with cars. It will have HO scale miniatures (cars/trucks/motorcycles etc.) and will have similar maneuver, range rulers as well as damage and ability cards and it you are playing basically cars with guns warfare on the table. I can't wait for the KS. Check out the official website and the Car Wars 6E thread to read more. I am not the only one who has seen onthe similarity to X-Wing. I'll check it out. It does seem a good match, I remember after Fury Road came out I kinda toyed with turning xwing into Mad Max game. Seemed a very good fit.
  6. Interesting, though I dont see the narrative for "more launchers" to equal "Longer range".Mechanics trump lore, of course, but that feels out of place for me. yeah, I concur with Rakaydos. Also that range 4 doesn't exist in standard x-wing normally and would require a template from epic. I was thinking of things from a newer more advanced launchers angle combined with a mechanics focus. Ultimately I wanted to let the Punisher do something distinct. If people think its a bad fit I'll do something else though. I had also toyed with the idea of letting the punisher simultaneously fire ordnance at 2 ships, but that seems like it would make tripple punishers OP. As for the range 4 measurement it seems like everyone who plays xwing inevitably either cuts up a spare ruler or gets one the acrylic sets and could stack their range 1 ruler on their range 3 one to measure range 4. Or just use a regular ruler remembering each range band is 10cm.
  7. Contemplating my Punisher fix idea. I feel the punisher needs a fix more in role than cost. At the moment a bomber does the same things but cheaper. When I mocked up the card my initial instinctwas to make it 0 points like the other fixs. But should probably be 2 or 3 points thinking about it more.
  8. I've had similar experiences before with other miniature companies. It probably just ends up cheaper and easier to write off a complete expansion than to have someone go track down a specific part from the factory in another country.
  9. They will put it in Xwing sooner or later, but the real question is more "The scurrg will be a Scum or a Rebel ship ? (or both ^^)" From a game perspective Scum lack a proper Bomber plus the namesake craft itself is in the hands of a Pirate. So I'd bet on scum.
  10. How much leeway is there for creating new weapons? Fiddling with some new ordnance ideas that as far as I can find have no mention in starwars but would be well within the technical capabilities of the Galaxies inhabitants to produce.
  11. There will be Punisher aces stuff, I just am still playing with that more and haven't mocked up all the cards yet. But I did want to keep all my stuff condensed into a single thread so the thread is preemptively titled. I was hoping the less hull would offset the better dial. If its not enough I'll up the costs. Perhaps make the title cost 1 point, to make swarms that benefit from it most more expensive? For the PS3 EPT generic, I was going with them being equivalent to the likes of tansari point veterans or black squadron ties. but lower PS because they are battledroids in the end (even the top ace is only PS6). the EPT Survivor was built with them in mind from a story point of view, independent droid fighters that have manged to survive from the clone wars. I wouldn't worry about that build, without the focus action they can't use deadeye or proton rockets. Still if the EPT is too much I'll drop it if people think so. CIS refit is like that because thats what they did. The Original Trade federation Vultures had 4 Blaster cannons and Torpedo Tubes, CIS Vultures have 6 Blaster cannons and missiles. Well aware editing needs work, thanks for the advice.
  12. Having a go at the custom card buisness. Not do e this before but I've had some ideas rolling around my head for a while now. First up my take on the Vulture droid fighters, I'll put up the Hyena and Punisher aces stuff when I get them figured out. This is something that's probably been done before but this is my take on the Vulture. I've gone with no focus action and low PS because the trade federation/CIS battledroids are supposed to be unadaptable compared to organic pilots. Dial has no reds as their integrated droid brains are surely capable of dealing with any maneuvering their "body" is capable of (which is supposed to able to do things that would kill an organic pilot). Few greens for balance and to give them some distinctness from piloted craft, won't stress themselves but especially vulnerable to stress effects like tactian. The primary weapon buff is for the 2 extra blaster cannons they got but going up too 3 attack dice seems to much of a buff. This one I'm the least sure of the points cost, too cheap? edit: updated image links
  13. Figured as much. Just thought I'd double check as I can't pick between two new ships (Vulture and Hyena droids) to try add since only can possibly make it. Maybe I'll just submit both and see how they go.

  15. For canon choices theres still a lot of options in the prequals. If they want something recognizable there's probably no better option now than the N1.

Captain Jonus — TIE Bomber 22 Crack Shot 1 Extra Munitions 2 Homing Missiles 5 Ion Bombs 2 Guidance Chips 0 Ship Total: 32 Black Eight Squadron Pilot — TIE Punisher 23 Fire-Control System 2 Extra Munitions 2 Proton Torpedoes 4 Thermal Detonators 3 Guidance Chips 0 Ship Total: 34 Black Eight Squadron Pilot — TIE Punisher 23 Fire-Control System 2 Extra Munitions 2 Proton Torpedoes 4 Thermal Detonators 3 Guidance Chips 0 Ship Total: 34 Usually does well, alphastrikes hard and the bombs are nice once things devolve into a knifefight scrum or an arc dodger gets close I've always liked bombers and punishers so its nice to get something that works with them.
  17. Didn't do CCL 1 but I'll give this a shot. Got some ideas for a Punisher aces I might try. Also want to try my Hand at the Vulture and Hyeena Droids but I'm not sure which to pick at this stage.
  18. Blail Blerg it'll be fine, the score and break method it looks like he used will mean no material is lost. Even if an amount were lost it wouldn't matter. Tenths of a mm error is smaller than the variation in the cardboard templates anyway and betwen that and human error even being off by a couple mm would be totally inconsequential too the game.
