TurboCooler got a reaction from GralQ in We need to be a Dungeons Master (Overlord)
I watched the whole video. I do not like that it is a one and done type of game. The app will only have 3 save slots forcing you to run the whole campaign.
I get that they can have a smart AI with an app. I get they can resolve combat with the app quicker. I get that they can give you weapon bonuses.
But, why would I not just play a video game that is a turn base RPG?

TurboCooler got a reaction from Tubb in Art?
The three strikes against this game for me:
1) 100% app driven
2) Price
3) Art
Even if I accepted the first two, the art would completely turn me off from a purchase. It is not just the character templates, the tiles and even cards I think are bad.

TurboCooler got a reaction from crimsonsun in New Descent, we'll know more on the 22nd!
The slot in the base is for a chip with marks on it 0, 1, 2, or 3 slashes. This is the level of the enemy. Instead of different colored bases or miniatures, the slot is for a chip.
Narrative in terms of an unfolding story with a story arch that can change depending on choices. Similar to the LotR Game. More time to explore with fewer race type of objectives.
The entire game is considered by their own words a "one shot" You play once, there is a foreshadow for the next game and they will "sell" you side quests until they release the next Act.
The game may be the thing for someone, but not for me. I may try it some years in the future after is available second hand for curiosity sake by they are not getting $175 from me.
It reminds of T.I.M.E. stories but with an app. IMHO, they made this game for people who do not like dungeon crawlers and do not like to do book keeping that some games require.
All that is fine, give people what they want, but is definitely not me nor the original core base of the Descent fans.

TurboCooler reacted to DerDelphi in New Descent, we'll know more on the 22nd!
I'm a bit heartbroken to be honest. I'm sure this game will have interesting mechanics and a great narrative due to the app integration, but the looks of it... This just isn't a Terrinoth setting game.
I'm aware that it was specifically not designed to be like other Terrinoth titles, but who thought this was a good idea?

Maybe they should have done a Kickstarter...
Well I hope the players of this game really enjoy it!

TurboCooler reacted to Bucho in Descent dice flawed or just unlucky?
Casino dice are quite different. They're machined instead of injection molded, so they don't shink unevenly in the mold as the plastic cools. Nor do they need to go through a rock tumbler to get rid of the mold marks (which makes the dice even more uneven). Casino dice are translucent, your dice are not which means there could be an air bubble in there and you'd never know. And that X is a whole bunch of missing plastic which casino dice with their perfectly filled pips don't have.

TurboCooler got a reaction from TalisDiorn in News summary for the week. Character and Role cards revealed, Steam Photos analyzed, and the fourth role you may have missed.
I like everything except the miniatures. Thankfully I have GW LotR Miniatures that I can proxy.

TurboCooler reacted to Freeman in Player Mats Not Available From FLGS?
I, on the other hand, couldn't care less about my local retailer. All he does is Magic tournaments (which I couldn't be less interested in) and doesn't offer interesting products, outside your typical Catan, Dominion and other CCGs. He can't be bothered to order products such as LOTR LCG in its English version, and so on.
The thing that bothers me is that, due to the Asmodee politics, my typical online stores never offer LCGs packs at discount price. So seems they're not supporting either local nor online stores. I don't get it, frankly.

TurboCooler reacted to Nanich in What's your opinion on no dices?
I am not excited for there being no dice.
For me a great game has the following:
Dice Cards Miniatures Tokens Currency I think this game will not have dice or currency. It still looks like a great game though. I can't wait for it to come out!
I don't know. When I think about this game, it feels like it should have the traditional D&D set of dice, but that is likely just me.

TurboCooler got a reaction from Proto Persona in FF Please stop ignoring Descent... :(
Such as? Not sure there is anything like Descent.

TurboCooler got a reaction from The Cocky Rooster in Im absolutely amazed how restrictive 800 pts is
We are only at Wave I. I do not agree with some of the complaints. 800 is plenty for the units we have now. This will change as we see more units. Also, there is a time vs army size vs cost issue to consider. To me 800pts is the correct balance.
For those who want a larger battle there are already rules on page 47 for a 1600 point battle that includes different force composition and deployment rules.

TurboCooler reacted to TylerTT in If you dont have a smartphone you can no longer play
Or just keep ignoring the super cool and convenient quick build cards in the new version and keep talking like this is actually a problem.

TurboCooler reacted to Chucknuckle in If you dont have a smartphone you can no longer play
To be fair, refusing to install third party apps on your phone or not having a smartphone does make you a pretty fringe-dwelling individual. These days it's one step away from wearing a tinfoil hat so the secret police can't read your mind.

TurboCooler got a reaction from alexbobspoons in Descent speculation
At GenCon50, they said something is coming and reiterated that Decent was important to them. At GAMA, they said pretty much the same. I assume they have not forgotten about Decent but they are not making it a big priority either at this point.

TurboCooler got a reaction from EyeSeven in Legion at Salute 2018
There is a VLOG post over at BeastsOfWar.com. This was a collaboration from 4Ground and Beasts Of War. The Shuttle and some other pieces are from Beasts Of War and the Terrain will be fore sale some time in the future as it is part of their new modular terrain line. There is no pricing at the moment.
Here is the VLOG link http://www.beastsofwar.com/backstage/vlog-visiting-4ground-salute/
If you watch from the beginning you see the modular terrain system they are building and will be selling that includes the SciFi terrain seen in the pictures. All the pieces are stuck together with magnets.
If you want to skip to the table, go to 10:40 in the video. The terrain you see in the pictures above and in the video is 36" x 48".
They stated they want to film a scenario played on this table but they did not commit to anything so who knows.

TurboCooler got a reaction from The Cocky Rooster in Free star wars minis or other releases.
I know of no FFG game that has them for which anything was done with them. I believe the days of sending in your box tops for a secret decode ring are gone.

TurboCooler got a reaction from Ghost Dancer in Rules Reference 3rd Party Printing Release?
The rules are going to change over time. Do you expect them to mail you a new hard copy each time they make a change? I rather have the PDF and then you can use a tablet or print it however you like. It is not cheap, it is from feedback from other FFG games. It is far batter than having 50+ pages of FAQ or Errata. You can bookmark, highlight, hyperlink and even take notes to PDF. I also keep a OneNote for my own notes that even allows me to take pictures if I have to. Everything is on my Galaxy Tab 3 and gets sync to the cloud. The tablet goes in my backpack and it I consider it a necessary devices just like the movement ruler is in this game.

TurboCooler got a reaction from kaffis in Disneyland AT-AT popcorn bucket
To be at scale it would need to be about 18.5" tall.

TurboCooler got a reaction from Ghost Dancer in GAMA Trade Show GF9 Legion Terrian
I own some GF9's terrain from their "battlefield in a box" collection. It is very well done and heavy cast to the point that the terrain pieces can be used as self defense weapons in real life. They are that thick and heavy.

TurboCooler got a reaction from Muelmuel in Ship scale reference
Reading the quick play rules, they specifically call out repulsor tanks. Can we add the T2-B repulsor tank http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/T2-B_repulsor_tank
