Anakin gets to keep stuff from every command card. If you play his cards during the first 3 turns, it means he’s a beast for the last three. How is that not incredible?

-Anakin is 15 points less than Obi-wan, but all his command cards have Permanent.
-Clone Medic and Engineer are armed, but only can heal one point. Have new keywords.
-Clone support all have Phase 1 and 2 options.
    -Maul has 3 poses.
-Maul attacks with 8 dice!! "Juyo Mastery" Same cost as Anakin.
-Maul's second 1 pip command card replaces a 3 pip.
-Sith Probe Droid has new Observation token.
    -Separatists Command Droids
    - Viper Droid gets Observation tokens and is not a non-combatant.
-55 points for both faction's generic commander
-Specialist sets release January 2021 -Maul and Anakin release November 2020.
-Next 4 units released will be Imperial and Rebel. 2 "Highly requested characters" Darth Maul news
-jo yo mastery "in rage channeled into saber skill/combat
-"Maul is a sneaky boy" -double bladed lightsaber rolls 8 dice and is 1 attack not 2 like grievous
-"Maul has versatile play, a sense of flowing in combat"
-maul cost 160 points is also a high risk reward character like anakin
-yes Maul has 2 1 pips and 1 of them replaces a 3pip when I build your list so I can easily take them both
-probe droids are a detachment to Maul and and use new observation tokens "they let a unit hang back but still be able to influence the battle"

This is literally identical to the Republic list I use the most and it works out great for me! I hardly ever find a use for the ordinance upgrade so sometimes I won't take it and get a training on Rex instead but thats the only thing I'd change and even then, the High-Energy shells can be really useful when you need them

clones do not need range 4 because you rex 2 pip round 1 and your z-6 becomes range 4. z-6 is a better choice. I recommend a big bid in Skirmish since you get to pick 1 of 4 sides. This is a HUGE advantage that should not be under utilized. I would upgrade everything to p2's give them all Offensive push or Overwatch and put something on rex, I like jetpack + Offensive push. Rex is a fighter in skirmish, so give him the tools to fight well. If you play against a lot of droids, consider giving him droid poppers.

I would say drop the z6 on the phase 1's and grab the DC-15. Always good to have the longer range options. That or put targeting scopes on the phase 2's. Maybe drop the specialist and get 2 extra troopers instead.

10 points is pretty steep for a skirmish bid so I would say either get a couple of fun upgrades such as like you said aggressive tactics on Rex and a grenade OR what I think would be a better option would be to drop one overwatch and downgrade the clone specialist to a generic clone personnel so you got the points for C3-PO with R2. With clones token sharing his calculate odds ability is insane and way too hard to pass up. If you don't wanna drop those upgrades tho, go with what I said first. In my experience 3 or 4 points is plenty of a bid for skirmish so grabbing some extra stuff would be nice

This is going to be a weird thread.

Being an X-Wing player, and owner of a bit of much-loved Armada, I’ve been eyeballing Legion for quite some time now. I am really in the fence whether as to take the plunge and buy a core set, for X reasons:
    1) It looks pretty fun. Unique in the systems that it combines, and a war game, which I really enjoy.
    2) It looks fairly expensive. When I first started playing X-Wing, I looked at the low single ship prices and thought “oh, that’s not too bad”. It actually wasn’t, because I really dislike flying swarms, but Legion looks more expensive per unit + more units needed to field a merely competent army = overall higher costs. I don’t know if I’m willing to do that.
    3) I suck at painting, and I don’t want to pay double the cost of what I bought my unit for to have them all painted. That’s reasonable, right? Having none of the tools I need for painting, I don’t know... A possible solution is to coat them all in a single-colored primer so they’re somewhat thematic and not awful (i.e white for stormtroopers, brown for rebel troopers, black for Vader, etc).
    4) There’s not really a Legion scene at a gaming store near me, so play would be relegated to my two friends that also like miniatures/strategy games (although I’m fairly sure that they wouldn’t buy anything, we each have our own niche games that we own and the others play with)
    5) I already sort of have a trooper war game to play? My friend owns a large amount of 40k models, so we play that occasionally. I’m not very good at it though, because I can’t practice, and that means it’s fun to play, but a bit futile.

Despite all of this, Legion has been nagging me for a long time.

Why do you guys play it? What makes it special or unique for you, and what has made you stay with it and not move onto another wargame?

Exactly right. The Phase 2s can spend the standby at any time, even after they activate. Works well for Rex if he doesn't want to push into range 2 to get a shot.

Qark got a lot of the big things!
Totally need Overwatch on those phase IIs, clones have a lot of power in sharing standby tokens and Overwatch gives you nearly a range 5 bubble from the original clone unit since you can share standby tokens with the clonetrooper keyword!
R2-D2 is basically an auto include right now, so I would totally bring him along. Extra minis are good, but you can combine 4 of them into a naked squad. I recommend bringing 4 main attack squads and 2 naked squads to free up some points. Those units can still aim and standby or some combination of tokens so they actually do a lot of work.
I like the Tank build, the tank can bring a lot of power to your list. If you decide to bring R2, make sure to keep him close as the tank can get focused down pretty hard. Keep your commander safe and focus on individual units. keeping your units out of range early can be very beneficial to clones who can turn the tide of battle in a single activation.
Do not be scared to use firesupport when you think it could really do some damage. On the same note, do not use firesupport too often or you won't have enough activations to keep your opponent's movement in check.
Have fun and be sure to pay attention to what goes on in your games (win or loss) and ask your opponent what they were thinking or any advice. The game is more fun imo when you understand what is going on at a competitive level.

Hi, good luck on the weekend! I am going to assume you have limited unit options so Ill start with some playing tips.
You don't have many activations, so your opponent will likely try to force you to come to them. That could be a problem because you'll finish moving your units up while they still have units that can activate and shoot you. Rex's scouting party and take that clankers can help a bit here because you can possibly start the fight in shooting range but it is something to watch out for.
The tank is really interesting to play. On one hand it can be really tough to bring down, armour + red defense dice. On the other hand an entire army crit fishing can bring it down in a few turns. I find the best way to run the tank is on a flank, hit one unit at a time and kill it so the enemy struggles to get multiple units in range at once.
As for list changes, it seems likely that you don't have any more physical models to add but Ill make some suggestions anyway.
R2-D2 is such a boon to a list like this. 1 extra activation, has the potential to score a bonus victory point, and increases the tanks health from 9 to 13. The easiest way to fit R2 would be to drop the extra troopers on the DC15 squads.
I highly recommend overwatch on the Phase 2 troopers. If any of your other clone squads loose the heavy weapon the unit leader can just hide and aim + standby every turn. That'll allow the phase 2s to shoot multiple times. It will also work well with rex. His weapon is only range 2, if he doesn't want to push forward to shoot he can just overwatch instead so he still contributes to the fight.
Finally (instead of R2) dropping all the extra troopers and the targeting scopes would give you enough points to add a whole extra phase 1 unit with a z6. Targeting scopes are good on a z6 unit (especially if you have a specialist to generate the aim tokens) but it is hard to pass up a whole extra activation with a heavy weapon.

Duck and cover is a must for anyone w/ danger sense.

add Sabine’s shield.  It’s a free dodge tokens that works against crits

    best command cards
    1- Jyn 1pip-  she gets 2 attacks
2- Leia’s 1pip- combine it with Fire support and it’s a unit killer.
3- Jyn’s 2pip- team work w/ Sabine to get aims for both attack rolls on gunslinger
4- Leia’s 2pip- play it first round, combine that with intel recon units it’s now scout 2.
note: I never pick this because I play heavy/support units so I always take Turning the Tide.

    5- Jyn- 3pip- it’s a the best defense against Krennic’s 3pip or Palp’s 2pip
6- Covering Fire.  The other 3 pips left suck.

Me:  I play Vets... and if I pick up a rebel trooper unit, I put on the DLT for the crit 1.

It's probably due in part to the switch to hard plastic. Producing more options on the sprue might cost a bit more in artist time, plus it is an "added feature" so companies like to charge more for those.
As far as I know, that was the listed price when they first available for pre-order, which for some reason I think was before any changes in import fees, but I could be wrong. That also wouldn't explain why the prices went up in Europe...
To me, it's still cheaper than GW for a couple of reasons: We don't have to buy rulebooks, AND each box is a complete unit with enough miniatures for all special weapons that are included.
Legion: I buy a box of Phase 2 clones and have 7 bodies, allowing me to make 5 clones with rifles, 1 Z-6, and 1 mortar. If I decide to try the other special weapon, I already have the model ready to add into the unit.
GW: I buy a box of Cadian infantry and want to build a standard IG squad. I can use one of the ten provided bodies to build either a flamer or grenade launcher, but not both without having to get more bodies to field the squad and have the ability to change loadout while still having the appropriate special weapon modeled. I also have to buy a seperate box if I want to include a heavy weapon in the squad (which could be considered akin to the upgrade boxes).
If I want to build a squad of tactical marines, then I have to decide which ONE of the special weapons provided I will use, and which ONE of the heavy weapons I will use. Unless I magnetize, I can't easily swap them out later without buying more space marine bodies.
On top of this, most "competitive lists" include multiple $50+ vehicles, and significantly more infantry than Legion does.
Quick back of the envelope calculations on the MSRP of a Space marine tournament winning list came out to $826, just in models.
If you want to build the same list that won the LVO this year though (an Empire list), it would cost $313, which includes the cost of a core set for the battle cards and the single Stormtrooper squad in the list. A similar army built using the new pricing would cost approximately $385-$405 (assuming the $10 increase of units holds across the board, and depending on the price difference of the new Specialist boxes).
That's less than HALF the price, even at the new pricing.

I wholeheartedly agree.  My rebels have danced away from every chicken walker and pickup truck tank they’ve ever faced, and won far more than they’ve lost.

BenBot reacted to Reavern in Clone AT-RT leak
Any Legion player could create custom cards and stats and even rules for Legion, and call it "imaginative". It doesn't matter if the AT-RT is exactly the same, slightly different, or (somehow) completely different than the Rebel AT-RT. It's still an AT-RT. I've seen it before. I've assembled and painted three of them. And I've played with the AT-RT for over a year. It's old news.
That's presumably why FFG chose to announce Padme, Cad Bane, ARC Troopers, and BX-series Commando Droids before the Republic AT-RT and, presumably, the Separatists STAP. Because those 4 are all original! Is it that hard to understand?
Besides, my main point was that there were better options for a Support unit for the Rebels than the AT-RT in the first place. I don't care what crappy mobile games do with Star Wars. And do you even know what other high-quality games that Disney Interactive, the developer of the Star Wars Commander mobile game, has made in the past? Don't bother, trust me.
FFG is responsible for designing the Nadiri Starhawk and Onager-class Star Destroyer. They should've done better than the Rebel AT-RT. There were better options.
And none of this will change my lack of enthusiasm for the Republic AT-RT. If FFG wants to pique my interest they need to announce the AT-TE. I'll drop $100 on that beast before you can spell it.
BTW: I hate the Sabre-class Fighter Tank. Hard pass. I'll buy the X-34 Landspeeder before I buy that Battlefront abortion. The only Republic Heavy vehicle I'll ever buy is the AT-TE, so get on it FFG!
