If you understood that we will get something big never this week but always next week, than you understand that Armada is no longer a profane miniatures game. It became a religion and we all wait for delivry in eternity, amen!
    (And halleluja!)

The Vader Raider I used at Worlds was nothing short of amazing. (Raider 1, External Racks, Darth Vader)
50 points of fear in a dart.  It cannot be ignored.  It can sacrifice itself against a squad force, or kill an important card.
At Worlds the Raider: Killed a Hammerhead with a lucky 7 damage Eracks roll, killed Gunnery Teams, Admonition and Brunson.  All the while, flanking and causing issues.  I'm totally sold on it in the right fleet.

Triangular reacted to Drasnighta in Measuring for card effects
If it is an attack, the measure is hull zone to hull zone. Ie, cardboard to cardboard.

if it issue non attack measurement then you measure component to component, which includes the plastic base , by omits shield disks and the plastic that frames them.
non attack measurements would include, but not be limited to:
    Home one
    Tractor Beams
    Targeting Scrambler (distance measure)
    Comms Net

This means for example it is theoretically possible to tractor beam someone and not be in range to shoot them.

Maybe Armada is like chess and X-wing like poker. But I cannot find it interesting to watch X-wing. I watched two games that demonstrated X-wing 2.0. And it was dull. I can't find any real strategy and development in this game. In many cases its only point seems to be how the defense dice are falling. I really wondered if I should get into X-wing now. But after watching these two games I don't think I will ever.
When I watch an Armada battle. Everything is of meaning. The battle reports of Mother of the Fleet are really entertaining and informative. Yes it resembles a bit a game of chess, which I also like to watch.
Maybe I don't know enough about X-wing to enjoy it. But I know I'am not the only one who likes better to see a battle between ISD and Home One, than a dogfight.

That is a complete other story than the movie! There Ani says oops when starting the fighter. A second oops, when accidently (!) landed in the hangar bay. And oopsing a third time after accidently firing torpedoes at the droids and so causing a chain reaction.
No feeling anything dark. No instinct. Not even being stressed while being a kid in a space battle. Only oops. (Oh, won the battle!)
Maybe they should have read the book at the cinema?

    28. And I was already a father for about a year.
I still think little Anakin is the problem of the film. (Although it could have been cool, if he destroyed the droid ship out of fear and hatred and not randomly pressing buttons while saying oops.)

Triangular got a reaction from Darth Veggie in Hype the Hyperspace Report (Day 6): "In my experience there is no such thing as luck"
We played a fun game with "Open Salvo" as Objective. I had a Cymoon 1 with Quad Laser Turrets and was attacked by a Nebulon-B Salvation. I could only attack its front arc at wide range. I rolled 5 red dice and got 3 double and 2 accuracy. For Quad Laser Turrets I got a third accuracy. The Nebulon neither could brace nor evade! Three damage got through the shields.

After turning shield dials and serving cards we remembered, it was the first shot of my Cymoon against another ship. So I got another 2 red dice. I rolled a hit and a crit! The best result I ever got rolling red dice without any rerolls!
There's a picture and report (in german) if you would like to see it...

Triangular got a reaction from DrakonLord in Quick question for the maths gurus
With Dodonna you still have a 1/4 chance to roll a crit. But then you will draw 4 cards. Your chance to draw a "Structural" (if no card has been dealt before) should be 8/52+8/51+8/50+8/49 = 63,4%. Your chance with Dodonna goes up to 15,8% to roll the crit and draw the card.

If you only play casual, then look at a ship and when you think: "That's awesome!" then go and get it. When you play some time you'll get a feeling, what you like best. The little fast and fragile speeders or the strong fortress ships. The mighty broadsides or the intimidating front arcs. To snipe with red dice or to brawl with black dice. To bring huge numbers of tiny squadrons or to rely on your capital ships.
Otherwise you will get as many different suggestions as people will reply. And that's the true value of Armada. There are nearly as many possibilities to play the game, as there are enthusiasts willing to explore them.
