You never know, it could be a descendant of that TIE Fighter in Rogue One's trailer that was mysteriously absent when the actual movie released.

Finally watched the trailer. The following are my thoughts / reactions.
"Sounds more like the continued rise of maREY sue."  "Oh look, I'm standing alone in the middle of the desert for no reason. Waiting to use my laser sword to kill my opponent in a spaceship that could vaporize me with or without said laser sword."
    "Final?  Thank God"
"When did ancestor worship /  reincarnation become a Star Wars thing?"
    "Moar deathstar"
    "I'm out."

I think the OP is making a fair point here.
What exactly should be the reason to nerf a ship? The sheer fact, that some people don't like the way it performs, is not really enough to nerf it. Tournament results are so much more important.
The fact that Han is ignoring a whole lot of the XWing rules doesn't necessarily make it overpowered or an NPE.
I understand that flying against Han could be an NPE for some players, but it could also be a great challenge to others, because you have to setup kill boxes.
Aren't all pilot abilites and upgrade cards meant to ignore one or more rules, which would apply to all other ships? So if you have got a single ship at the cost of 140 points, it seems legit for it to ignore quite a few rules.
So, what do I personally think about the current Han situation?
I think we should take Hans illicit slot away, because ships should be flying, not standing. It seems unfair, if a ship can remain on the same position too often, while all others have to be moving.
But honestly, that's a design which was made by the game developers. We can't tell if it's meant to be that way or if it's just an unlucky coincident.
So how can we measure, if Han is okay, compared to other ships and other lists? As long as Han is just performing mediocre in tournaments, there is no meta problem.
There are a few super efficient and super reliable lists available at the moment, such as the Drea Renthal and the Lok Revenants. Is it actually so much more fun to fly against those? And is it fun to meet the same lists over and over again? Even the same list concepts (like 4 similar super point efficient ships) again and again? I am not quite sure about that.
Han seems very different in the current meta. It's one single big ship, which can even face and withstand these meta lists.
List variety is something I really like, just like most of you I guess

Excuse me, but does an official definition of an NPE exist somewhere? Did FFG publish such a definition with the game rules or anything like that? I would accept that, if there was an official ruling or statement about NPEs. But it should be made by officials, not by normal players.
Since I have not seen anything like that, for the time being, NPEs seem to be very subjective to me.

But who is the community? Who defines what the community thinks?
There are certainly some people who agree with you and some others who don't.
I think we should leave each others definiton of an NPE, because obviously it has got a different meaning for some people.
Apart from that... to get back to the original topic... I agree with most others here that ships should be flying, not standing most of the time. So, handbrake Han is not really what I regard being "good for XWing" as a game. I'd love to take the Inertial Dampeners away from Han, or I'd even take the Illicit slot away to solve the problem once and for all.

But competitive performance is the only discussion relevant. If you are flying casually down at the local club with some friends, just tell them to not be a **** and not fly a meta list.
Unless I'm practicing for a tournament in which case I even inform my opponent I brought a meta list, I use casual nights to try out new stuff.
    So in summary.
Fat Han is performing like the good list that it is but is not overpowering. And if you feel it's a NEP just tell your mates to not bring them casually.

    So where the problem?

There is literally a single Han in the top cut, and its a semi slim one with Lando in another Falcon.

But yeah please don't let me interrupt the ****** of banning all lists that aren't throwing red dice piew piew level of complexity.

So the results from the Denver System Open are in. Not a single Fat Han + Jake two ship build in the top 32.
    https://listfortress.com/tournaments/583
Since we have an 18 page thread based on a sample size of exactly one System Open, surely we should now also discuss how that build in underpowered using the exact same sample size of one.
So how do we help this super obvious easy to fly list that apparently steam rolls through everyone? Maybe a drop in points?

So, what are we nerfing today? I have no clue yet, but I am sure that it must be a terrible NPE.

As a rule, I'd suggest trying to avoid sending him up the centre. A T-70 X-wing isn't exactly 'fragile' but nor is it massively hard to kill, and Poe's ability doesn't make him any tougher than a normal T-70* in the way, for example, that Joph Seastriker or Jessika Pava's do, and he is about as expensive as X-wings get.
He can do well in an aggressive squad but generally he's one of the units you generally want in a good shape for the end-game, so trying to take the opening engagement from the flank, or at long range with torpedoes (where he's less likely to get pummelled) is a good idea.

    * Okay, technically "I used a target lock and still have a focus to defend with", but that's still just a T-70 with a focus token and you've stressed yourself in the process.

Honestly, I keep reading quite a lot to keep up with all the rules and special abilities, but I am a bit confused about all the new stuff coming up. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with all the rules, special rules and game effects.
Yeah, maybe it's just me getting older...
Anyway, I feel like I am the rules-guy in my local gaming group. Usually people turn to me, when they don't really remember what will happen after flying through a debris cloud instead of flying over an asteroid. Things won't be easier to remember with ion clouds an all the other new stuff coming up.
Of course I am not talking about ion clouds in particular.... it wouldn't be much of a problem, if that's the only change to the game. But it feels like there will be a whole lot of completely new game effects coming with the new factions.
We are just a bunch of normal guys, with normal jobs and normal families. There is not so much time for rocket science and studying XWing rules.
Please keep this game easily playable.
