That is what happens when the jump to I4 -> I5 is around 2pts, sometimes less. Add to the fact that many of the I5 ships rely on either getting a target lock, low hull or agility dodgers, or ability triggers at range 1.
I wouldnt mind a bigger point tax between initiatives. Makes taking the high inits have to sacrifice more in the squad. Currently, from Echo -> Whisper you give a whopping 2pts. It should be a much harder decision.

Its a combination of everyone wanting the crutch of having complete board knowledge before they activate, and the fact that many of the I5s are really, really good (Whisper, Redline, Boba, Luke, etc.).

It's more about the way the easy accessibility of high PS ships makes running PS4 and below a great way to get shot off the board before you fire.
The Bombers and Gunrunners are both extremely cheap for what they do (having received considerable point discounts and upgrade buffs relative to 1.0) and can make up in point efficiency and ship count what they lack in PS.  PS3-4 named pilots generally pay a hefty enough premium that they get shot off the board by higher PS lists but can't leverage the PS advantage enough against efficiency lists.
Mobile platforms with good firepower like the X-Wing or Interceptor can manage okay but ships like the Y-Wing or X1 get the shaft.
Price points for PS5 and 6 probably need to go up a bit.

Nope.  It’s just a name.  Call it Stay on Target or Target Lockey Focus Switchy.  The meat is in the mechanics. Collision Detectors may be better than FCS, indeed Advanced Sensors could be really good too.  FCS wouldn’t necessarily be bad though, if you do get a chance to “Target Fixate” it becomes really good by allowing you to double modify and reposition every turn.
You make a good point about the Fang Fighters.  I do want my Rebel “Super Fighter” to be comparable (not identical) to the TIE Defender and StarViper.  To that end, pricing would probably be around 3 points.  With price reductions to the chassis, I think flying Gavin and two Rogue Squadron Escorts with that talent, R4, and a System should be a possible list.  I’m pretty confident it would be both interesting to fly and to fly against.

A list I flew against that seems to have some promise is 5x GSP with crack shot and cluster missiles.  It fixes the main issue with A-Wings (firepower), is plenty of HP to chew through behind 3 green dice, and is a nightmare of blocking potential for ace-based lists.  They're tough to one-shot, so they're almost definitely soaking up at least 2 attacks each, which gives you several combat turns to put them to work.
I think maybe people need to just give things some time to shake out.

Predator, unless you're intentionally trying to stack points on him.
Predator should be triggering almost every round if flown properly and is a gigantic boost to your offensive output.  Outmaneuver is nice but deals less well with multi-arced ships and is significantly more expensive.

Normally with a wounded ship you can still engage cautiously so that further risk is minimized for a round or two but it still contributes.
But Thane doesn't care if you have focus and evade at range 3 through a rock and he has no mods.

    So uh

For those of you saying that Thane is totally fine and never an issue, the problem with him is that once you get a nasty crit (ion, direct hit, panicked, etc.), it no longer matters how well you range or token control.  If he ever, ever gets arc on that ship again, you're screwed.  If he gets a shot (and you cannot arc-dodge a good opponent forever), welcome to NPE land.  One unlucky roll means you have a ship that can no longer engage, which makes getting behind in the points race even harder to come back from.
He should minimum have to spend a hit or crit result (not focus) so there's some actual choice involves, otherwise he ceases to care about mods

To be fair Biggs likely volunteered to keep an eye on a non soldier (his real life friend) with no actual combat experience. The trench run is easy, no one asked Luke to do it he just goes to it as they are literally seconds away from losing. Do you really think anyone is going to tell him no if he’s willing to risk his life as no one else was in position or alive. 2 designated leaders fail before Luke tries it. So this really isn’t all that unbelievable. Biggs is his friend and Wedge is just a nice guy newbie at that point.
Not waying in on anything else but that scene is actually believable.

The FAQ ruling here was necessary because the rules reference specify explicitly what happens when a mine is placed underneath two ships at once (it goes of and the mine's owner gets to choose the victim) but a loophole in wordings made the most fanatic RAW worshippers argue, that nothing in the rulebook makes a mine go off when placed under one ship.

List building is a lot more engaging for me right now, because the strong lists allow for counterplay unlike in 1.0. No more of 'this looks fun and works well together, but gets brutalized by Nymranda so why bother'. I need to have a plan for barrage bombers and may still be at a disadvantage, but I will always have a chance. That alone makes exploring options so much better!

Go and read the rules reference for Attacks (pg 4).
"If a ship performs an attack, it becomes the attacker then follows these steps:
    1. Declare Target: During this step, the attacking player identifies and names the defender of the attack.
    a. Measure Range: The attacking player measures range from the attacker to any number of enemy ships and determines which enemy ships are in which of its arcs.
    b. Choose Weapon: The attacking player chooses one of the attacker’s primary or special weapons.
    c. Declare Defender: The attacking player chooses an enemy ship to be the defender. The defender must meet the requirements defined by the weapon.
    d. Pay Costs: The attacker must pay any costs for performing the attack."
    Additionally:
"A primary weapon requires the attack range to be range 1–3. A primary weapon has no cost by default.
    • Special weapons have different requirements specified by the source of the attack"
    I've bolded the key parts
Most important thing here is obviously that, from the outset, you had things the wrong way round. Choosing the weapon happens before declaring the defender.
Look at the wording for Measure Range and Declare Defender. There is no hard rule that the defender must be at range 1 for them to be declared as defender. There is no rule that you cannot measure range to a target at range 0.
Primary attacks are strictly limited to range 1-3, unless specifically overridden by a card effect of course (Arvel, Zeb)
Special attacks, including missiles and torps do not have any hard ruled range requirements. The only range requirement for their use is what's printed on each of their cards.
Rhymer changes the values on these cards, and increases or decreases them by 1. He decreases the range of any ordnance that can fire at range 1 to range 0.
There are no rules that prevent him firing a special weapon at range 0.
This honestly couldn't be clearer. People really need to actually read the rules reference.

Vader is so good at his current cost that I think I wouldn’t even bother with bids at i5. I’d just bring a PLAN for dealing with vader instead. Then if you get outbid by another i5 list you already have some ace-bashing handy.

My personnal take is that there are so few ships that are PS 6 and have mad repositionning skills that the need for a PS bid might only come forward if everyone brings Soontir / Vader / Feen (Scum).  Otherwise, a PS bid might actually be wastefull, but that's just my impression.

RampancyTW reacted to sozin in X-Wing 2.0 and ListJuggler Announcement
Hey everyone! Wanted to let you know that I'm going to be retiring List Juggler's live tournament meta-tracking for edition 2.0.   It has been an honor serving you over the past 5 years! Since ListJuggler was born in 2014, the community has submitted 4,071 tournaments, 94,909 distinct X-Wing lists, and 123,602 head-to - head matchups! We received tournament results from over 82 countries worldwide! Collecting all of this information has truly been a labor of love -- thanks so much to all the volunteers who have poured themselves into this project.   The reason is largely technical: FFG is not going to be able to provide a list export function, which mean that there will not be a way to get the lists into List Juggler from the official list building app. If FFG is ever able to create a list export function, I'll revisit this decision.
