To be blunt, this is so wrong I don't even know where to begin.
I think I'll leave it at that you have a drastic misunderstanding of the planning that goes into repositioning play.  Some ships like Jedi (and very arguably Soontir) don't pay a high enough point cost relative to their in-game benefit/in-game cost ratio, but repositioning has a benefit and a cost that needs to be factored into the decision-making processes of both players.

The ability does specifically require a hit, homing missiles will indeed be gnarly on him if he works as advertised, though.  Looking forward to running some triple V1 Ace lists!

This stuff all looks super nifty-- which leaves me scratching my head even harder as to why ships like the RZ-1 and TIE/in are still so completely shafted in the pilot department!  Hopefully we get more soon, definitely looking forward to the B-Wing goodies.

This is like saying Sinker shouldn't be more expensive than Wolffe.  Mass rerolls are so much better than a single additional die.

This is not quite correct; failed actions have not been performed. An ability that triggers after you perform a barrel roll action would not trigger after a failed barrel roll action (this is what @Lyianx was getting at).
So you have not actually performed the action, but the attempt has been resolved, and by rule the same action cannot be attempted again.

Mostly because I don't want to be an a-hole, partly that I don't want to invest the time into them they'd need.
I probably can be an a-hole sometimes.  My local scene is generally pretty chill.  I often like fly more competitive stuff, to try out a winning list, now and again. Not all of them, but some look more interesting to me than others (Jesper Winström's list with CLT Mace and Obi along with a stacked 7B Anakin?  Seemed cool, with him describing almost jousting with Mace/Obi to buy Ani time).  But I figure there's a limit.  I'll pack some of these lists for myself now and again, and mostly try to fly stuff that's more jank and less jerk.  Meanwhile, Nantex are odd enough that they'd take a decent number of reps, enough practice time with them.  I'd rather spend my a-hole budget on something else, something that I like more, that's less of a bully, that I'm more practiced with.
Also saved some real-money budget.  I got one, but if I were flying more of them, I could easily see myself with up to 3 in total.  I'm sure I'll spend the same $40 on some other plastic toys I don't need, but still.

I've flown against them some, more Chertek and Arena Aces than Sun Fac, actually.  My opponent took to them fairly quickly, and the 3 or 4 Init 4 lists are quite nasty against anything that's moving before them.   In general, I wish the design of the Nantex wasn't quite so robust against blocks.  With the Init 4 ones--Chertek and generics--I strongly think you shouldn't be able to fit four in a list, or at least not with the second talent slot filled or giving up Init 4.  Like, the generic with Ensnare ought to be 50-51 points, Chertek at least 51, just so you can't get more words than just Ensnare if you're running four.  These suckers don't need or deserve access to Predator as well.  I know Grievous could (and probably should... 3 + Grievous seems far better than 4) slot in easily, but still.  Some ships ought to hit the breakpoints.  Four Skull Squadron Fang Fighters can't take Crack Shot, for example.  Maybe those need a price cut, but still.

Nantex keep me reminding about something I've long thought about TIE Defenders.  TIE Defenders aren't priced around being large tournament competitive, and they shouldn't be. They're based around not being absolute pigs at casual night and small kit tourneys.  And I think it works.  You love the TIE Defender, want to give them a go at the FLGS and have a fun afternoon or evening?  They're great at that, and that's enough.
I'd have no problem with the Nantex being priced likewise.  The amount of control, combined with the power of the ace-play, combined with the blocking resistance...

Let me give you an example why its not always easy to pinpoint it.
Someone brings cookies to work. I take a cookie. Nobody complains. I take a second cookie. Nobody complains. I take a third cookie. Nobody complains. I take a fourth cookie. Everyone calls me out. There is no significance to the fourth cookie, the fourth cookie is just as much cookie as the third or the fifth, and in another firm or another day it might have been the second cookie that was too much or the sixth. Its not the specific measure thats the problem, its the intention.

Theres no, this cookie is one cookie too much moment in his match, its the intention.

I am terrible about physical token tracking since I'm usually mentally tracking gamestate while considering repositioning, target selection, etc.
I move the tokens as soon as I notice but it sometimes takes a bit if I'm caught up in the actual playing part

How is Trench Run 3 obvious ships?? And Nightmare?
Trench Run - Ships used in attack on Death Star in a new hope.
Nightmare - something your list struggles against. Given the variety of lists, it could mean anything.
The vagueness of these descriptors is dumb.
