While the discussion may be about the Original Trilogy era factions, I think it's amusing that some of the stuff mentioned so far doesn't actually have much to do with the Original Trilogy itself, i.e.  ships from Solo and Rebels.
    For me, it would be:
1:  Their Force abilities making Vader and Luke absolute beasts in game, forever and a day.  Regardless of what arrives in future, priced correctly they're always going to be pretty relevant.
2:  Release-wise, the articulated wings for the X-Wings and B-Wings are pretty sweet - as are the ways they incorporated them into the game (even if we had to wait for the B-Wing to get a mechanic to match the model).
3:  Red Squadron System Open prizes were pretty sweet I guess?  Especially combined with the Worlds stuff.
    Disappointments:
1:  Slow Empire re-releases.  The TIE Bomber and Lambda should really be on the horizon at least by now.  Surprised that the Decimator - as a Legends ship - got a re-release before the Lambda, and maybe even that the Inquisitor's TIE made it in front of the Bomber, but on the other hand. the fact that the release schedule for 2nd edition doesn't entirely match the release schedule for 1st could lead to future surprises...
I can't really make too much criticism though; I was glad the Resistance and First Order became separate entities, and the prequel factions are a lot of fun as well.  Obviously they need to be the main release focus until they've caught up ground on the 1st edition three.

From what I remember of his personality, it's been a ******* decade and a half, it would need 3 things:
    1. Room for a "mini"bar
    2. Space for allot of gals
    3. Big guns

    So YT-2400 seems to fit.

Cost dependent. 2 great Tavson archetypes (Kylo + Tavson + Starkiller/Thannison and Kylo + Tavson + Quickdraw/Holo) run at or just about 200. Upgrading your Biohexacrypt Codes to Hondo might mean demoting Kylo to Blackout or some other ace or perhaps decreasing the not Kylo piece. Probably not worth it.
He will have good value on the Xi, but not Rose Tico value. If you take a 2nd crew, Thannison will let you completely jam a token stacker/locker if you line up your arc. Phasma also looks to be a good crew with Hondo, since you could stress someone who gets too close and coordinate them next turn for it to fail because they're stressed. Pyre's first ability does that weaker (1 time and the opponent can slow play) but the 2nd ability will keep your Hondo alive longer, given that many self-stressers are out there. Passive defensive muggle mods good, especially if you jam one enemy and gift a useless coordinate to an enemy stressed boi.

Heff - free actions when enemy ships bump him. No stress from coordinating with Hondo, extends coordinate to range 3. So Heff, could Hondo for action to coordinate/jam, get bumped, then do a coordinate action.
O-66 sounds good too. Defend, spend a calc to Action Hondo to coordinate the ship that just attacked you, and jam the next ship gonna shoot you. Or coordinate a friendly for a better shot.

Republic R2-D2 seems OK.  Grab a Dorsal Turret for 34+Hondo, with the potential to get free tokens.
    Bucket, as noted, looks reasonable.
Scum Han.  Dude doesn't really need crew.  It'll be an Init 6 coordinate/jam, so after full knowledge probably, and when you know whether you'll have any bonus dice from ability/title, so you can chose to give up your action on turns when you know you already don't have a good shot.
Nom Lumb could be good.  Decently tanky ship that doesn't care too much about it's own actions, and you'll probably have Dengar gunner.  Say... that's kinda sweet if you Jam someone.

Other than Max said he was working on an update for it during the Adepticon Stream and it not being released yet? I have no doubt life is hectic right now, to say the least, but update is needed.
Rhymer with Adv Prots or other R1 Torps/Missiles against a target at R0 for one... Number of times Sunny Bounder can trigger per attack for another (a really old one, wording on her timing has two possible "legal" interpretations). There's a few more that aren't Hondo, who can wait till the Sept RR update at a minimum (mostly sticks in the mud refusing to accept that an ability doesn't have to have the word "can" in it can trigger the supersede Golden Rule with that one), browse through the Rules sub-forum sometime. They still haven't answered if MGT's can barrel roll through asteroids (US judges have said yes, EU judges have said no...)

On the Red Slam, the presenters seemed confused at the question which to me either says they didn't realize it (or thought new Poe could let a T-70 with Black One do it like I erroneously thought) or they know exactly how a red slam will be possible at the release of that pack or at some point in the future and forgot that we don't know about it. Yes, I am reading too much into a 3 second facial expression.
Anyway, I have a good feeling that we'll know whether it's future-prepping or if there's something in the pack with it.

    OK, hear me out internet.
Star Wars Squadrons has 4 classes of ships:
Fighter: X-wing vs TIE Fighter Bomber: Y-wing vs TIE Bomber Interceptor: A-wing vs TIE Interceptor Support: U-wing vs TIE Reaper One of the most classic Rebel fighters , the B-wing is sadly not in the game.
We need a new role for it: the Assault class: something between the Fighter and the Bomber class, focused in capital ship hunting. To differentiate it? - Two groups of guns.
You can equip Ion cannons + Laser cannons, Laser cannons + Beam cannon... any mix you want.
And what is the opponent for the B-wing? What ship has very similar hull, speed, shields and weapons? Yes, the Assault Gunboat Alpha-class Star Wing.

Sure, it has a little less guns, but so do the TIE Fighter (comparing to the X-wing) and the A-wing (comparing to the TIE Interceptor).
So, Motive Studios, just do it. Bring this majestic angel of 5 wings not only to a better position in canon, but also to the game that will redeem the space combat in Star Wars gaming.

Hear me, Gunboat Cult. This is our crusade! Spread the word!!

    Thrawn - Crew, 1 charge, non-recurring
During the systems phase, you may spend one charge. If you do, all friendly ships remove all red tokens. For the rest of the round, after a friendly ship is assigned a red token, it removes that token.
I like the idea of a crazy-powerful one-off ability that just gives you one epic moment. Classic Thrawn springs the trap. Thematically, I like something that rewards players more for planning ahead really well. The more you can act like Thrawn, the more reward you can get out of him.
You could double or triple his cost to give him more charges but that borders on NPE territory. Definitely shouldn't have more than 3, probably not more than 2. 1 seems most fun and keeps him in Sloane-price territory.
Side benefit; it would allow TIE Bombers to K-Turn and reload on the same turn. That's pretty epic on its own. Or you could quiz coordinate a Ciena Ree Daredevil on a ship that was stressed last turn, and still end up with no stress on anything. Oooooohhhhhh.

I think this is so painfully true. I don’t know how many copies FFG printed of HS&A, but I do know it was roughly half or a third of what they should’ve. There’s magic in a $20 pack that puts a nice fresh sheen on a big swath of ships across the game. They could do this twice a year and rake it in. Even folks with smaller collections or a smaller set of factions would have plenty of reasons to open their wallets for this.
I do think it’d be nice to see a push for another official play mode that opens things up more. For some reason FFG keeps flirting with missions, Epic, etc., but they never seem willing to take that relationship to the next level. Seeing an official push (with tourney support?) for a 300/9 Epic play mode (or something like that) would be one way to get people’s attention. For example, I mostly haven’t cared about Hyperspace, but because of FFG pushing it like they have, I at least know what it is. But if we’re mixing in Epic ships, or figuring out some way to do meaningful cross-faction play, that lets me put more toys on the table, which gets me towards what I want anyway.
The comparison to 40k is odd for me, though. 40k was my first love, but I eventually got tired of chasing the crazy expense, huge hobby time commitment, extreme game time length, and ever-advancing power creep. I think FFG’s been successful at putting forward a fast, tight, balanced, and endlessly appealing “standard” game, and I see the breadth and depth of factions as much more of an asset than a problem. In many ways 2.0 represents the anti-40kish thing of all: pursuing true and durable game balance while still leaving plenty of room to grow.
But tldr, I think more cardboard would solve most of the game’s woes, and going wholer-hog into epic type stuff would fix the rest. The real “problems” lie in rewarding people with massive collections for putting them on the table, and providing more pilots to keep old factions fresh. Handle that, and FFG can keep riding this thing out for a really long time.

I know that I for one would love to see Maul and Gar Saxon as pilots, and another large base with tallon rolls would be epic. I could see the case for a large base with linked actions even, and/or blue turns like the Lancer. Definitely wouldn't mind it being kind of expensive, and a fixed-front arc could keep it balanced. The Scimitar explores a fun design space but I don't do separatists so another outlet would be cool.

So a gatekeeper is a fleet (or type of fleet) that keeps lots of other fleets out of the meta because they just can't stand against it.  Every list has a hard counter, but a gatekeeper is a hard counter for many lists and it's consistently in the meta keeping them out.  For example, there are lots of fleets that would approach meta-viable if it weren't for the Aces lists that can pick them apart, or the vulture swarm that will consistently make them lose the joust they're built around, etc.  Those types of lists have dominated the meta for quite some time, and hence they've defined what can be in the meta over that long period of time.
If you build a fleet you'd like to take to a tournament, you need to practice against a variety of opponents like beef (lots of healthy ships like b-wings and x-wings), swarms, and anything else that might be strong in the meta at the moment (be it a specific fleet like Boba-Fenn, or something general like munitions alpha-strikers).  But aces are a constant, they'll always have a role in the meta; as I understand it, this is deliberate on FFG's part (everything is supposedly balanced around aces, and aces are where they want them to be).   (Example ace lists include jedi in all their iterations like anakin-obiwan-optional buddy, vader + friends, kylo+quickdraw+grand inquisitor, etc)
Cagey Aces (my term for aces that fly very skittishly, staying away and refusing to engage nearly the whole game, waiting until they have the perfect opportunity) are one of the most challenging playstyles to face in the meta, and their mere presence means any fleet that does poorly against them likely won't even bother showing up.  They're not easy to fly, but once you figure them out and develop the patience and timing sense to do well with them, you've got strong odds in your favor.  There's not much out there that has a good time against them.  And they tend to hard-counter most of the types of lists I like to fly.  C'est la vie.
I've been told straight up from someone on these forums (I think Blail Blerg?) that if my fleet cannot beat the top aces lists at least 50% of the time consistently, then it's garbage.
So that's a gatekeeper: they determine who can even have a chance to compete in the meta.  If one of your hard counters is a gatekeeper, you either switch tournament lists, don't play in tournaments, or go in knowing full well you will not do well.  (Which I've done a couple of times, e.g. with Wullffwarro War Crimes, just to see how far I could get).
That's a big reason why I'm a FFC (filthy f****** casual) and proud of it.  I really don't care to live by the strict rules of the meta; I prefer to explore lots of fun stuff instead.  Once you step a level or two down from the top meta, the entire game opens up to you and you can fly auzitucks, kimogilas, TIE Advanced that aren't Vader, etc.
Also I'm too lazy to practice the same fleet 6x a week.
    /rant
Yea, at that point they probably need to stop borrowing and start diving into the game themselves.    Though they may not have understood you were waiting for them to buy in.  Some people are used to one person providing the game they're all playing.  On x-wing days you're providing x-wing, and at another time they may provide the game they have (e.g. Warhammer, Arkham Horror, etc).
Haha, yea.  I eventually dove all in too...  Initially I tried to start small, but I was so impressed with the game I saw, I dove in hard and I regret nothing.  2.0's been overall fantastic!  And having a few billion spare cards means I can be generous to my buddies who can't afford to splurge like that, and to any new players who are flirting with the game.

Despite what some websites might say, it looks to be near the size of the VCX, judging be the A-wing and VCX there. So I wouldn't count it out. Also, it already has some pilots and titles attributed to it, making it easier to scrounge up info: Maul's Nightbrother, Galus Vez's Splendour, and Delphi Kloda's Sparrowhawk. That's 3 titles and 3 pilots there, and you could tack on Bazine Netal and a generic Death Watch Escort as pilots. Pre Vizsla, Savage Oppress, Bo Katan Kryze, and Bazine Netal crew?
