  1. There’s a quote that I can’t fully remember... something to the effect that you can’t do everything in life; in fact, by the numbers, you’ll miss almost everything. But it’s more about focusing on the stuff that matters to you and enjoying what you can of it. I get kind of philosophical about this because I’ve also got a collection that exceeds what I can reasonably play through. Yet in truth, I (mostly) don’t regret it. I derive “pure” enjoyment from the way the ships fly in my favorite (Scum) and second-or-third-favorite (Empire/First Order) factions. I’m excited to finally get to fly my favorite movie ship (the N-1) in a faction all to itself (Republic). And I’ve even come around on a faction that’s drawn its share of haters (Resistance), in part for the sheer joy of meme-ing it up with them. And I’ve gotten a surprising amount of joy from getting rid of the “default” faction (Rebel) that I came to feel less attachment to over time... and I’m truly, completely happy to let the bloody clankers pass me by. 😝
  2. What? You think you know everything I’m gonna say? Well how about this: RUBBER BABY BUGGY BUMPERS! Bet you didn’t see that coming, eh?!
  3. Finally tried these some yesterday. I played on a smooth card table surface, and I had a mix of rubber-footed and “regular” bases to see if I could tell the difference. Boy howdy could I tell the difference! The ones without feet were sliding all over the place. The ones with them were very, very noticeably harder to accidentally nudge out of place. I don’t like how few bases I could do with just a single pack. But, I’m close to ready to buy more packs...
  4. *raises hand* Can you walk me through how this combo works and what it does? I’m staring at everything in YASB but don’t get it.
  5. If this pans out, it may at last be the beginning of a new golden age for generic Punishers. They said I was MAD when I bought three in First Edition...
  6. Good... GOOD... feel the Scumminess flow through you!
  7. I find it somewhat funny and sad that Scum’s Scummiest pilots draw so much ire. I can’t help but think that means they’re doing something right, though, given that debuffs and shenanigans are (ostensibly) part of their faction identity. (Or maybe I’m just telling myself that to justify running these guys plus a cheap Kimo as one big, ugly “Troll Squadron.” Problem?!)
  8. I recently irked my usual gaming buddy by running 4-LOM one too many times. So, y’know, twice.
  9. Do we know what all of their slots are yet? I suppose quickbuilds aren’t 100% reliable but it’s better than nothing...
  10. I somehow missed this, too. Now I’m worried. I doubt the Transport’s clunky butt is going to be a powerhouse; however, it could easily be overcharged for its myriad slots.
  11. Oh sweet. I didn’t realize it was going to have an Astro slot. That’s gonna open up a big ol’ can of jank. Astro/cannon/crew madness, here I come!
  12. What, that’s it? No more discussion of this flying coordinate brick/log? (It’s more log-shaped, isn’t it...) I’m trying to figure out how big the shuttle pod is relative to some other ships. Thinking I could essentially get a twofer if I could use parts of other ships in the shuttle’s place on the log-section. I’ve got a Sheathipede that’s currently collecting dust, but I bet its butt would be too big without some extensive work. I’ve also got a really beat-up HWK, and a K-Wing missing a gun, that I could consider cutting down...
  13. I have to confess that this silly oblong ship has helped spark my interest in starting to dabble with the Resistance. It’s not the only thing, but the options on offer here look pretty interesting. Plus, the Scum Falcon’s two-for-one slide-out ship configuration is viscerally satisfying, so let’s do more of that.
  14. I felt almost morally repugnant about buying another dang TIE Fighter, given that my collection is replete with both “classics” and FOs. So I made a deal with my buddy for him to buy it, and then to swap some of my stuff that I don’t play anymore for it. Honestly I’m glad I did. Seevor is the Scummiest and dumbest thing on a TIE platform. I’d fly him more if I wasn’t already failing to get the rest of my stuff on the table often enough to justify having it.
  15. Thanks for the summary of what the faction is about! Maybe that’s part of what I’ve been trying to figure out; who the heck are these guys? What’s their schtick? Etc. Gotta say, I like the sound of “Rebels dialed up to eleven.” 😊
  16. Ohhhhhh I never thought about it that way. Oh crap that would take the air out of her tires. I really, really hope they FAQ this. Even if they had to bump her up some, Qi’ra doesn’t feel overpowered letting people on rocks attack; she’s competing for a slot that could be filled with good alternatives, and the lock-dependency is very self-limiting. (Note that the only way to “cheat” it is with Advanced Sensors, which is pricey unto itself.)
  17. Will these Episode 9 spoilers never end?!
  18. That’s beautifully jank-tastic. I wasn’t even thinking about the A’s arc being mobile. That’s gotta be it! Obviously Lulo gets lots of good press, but what’s the best way to manage his stress situation? Try to get stressed right away and just fly around as 3-2-2-2? Seems hard to keep him stressed with all those blues... or is he more of a flanker who always wants to swoop in for the K/sloop? Seems like that could get predictable... Though this is looking pretty interesting: Vennie (62) Pattern Analyzer (5) C-3PO (6) Finn (10) Veteran Turret Gunner (6) Stealth Device (4) Lieutenant Bastian (48) M9-G8 (7) Integrated S-Foils (0) L’ulo L’ampar (38) Heroic (1) Predator (2) Primed Thrusters (9) Total: 198 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0
  19. Interesting, interesting... so TrajSim and bombs aren’t auto-include on the big ol’ bomber, and you just fly it like a tank? Seems legit. That’d definitely keep the cost down. Yeah, I can see how Bastian, M9-G8, and C-3P0 would go down smooth here. I think there’s also maybe a chance to take advantage of M9 reroll with Finn. As for ship #3, do you want to push for higher initiative, or maybe just go with stress relief? I spotted this possibility: Vennie (62) Pattern Analyzer (5) C-3PO (6) Finn (10) Veteran Turret Gunner (6) Hull Upgrade (3) Jaycris Tubbs (50) BB-8 (3) Integrated S-Foils (0) Lieutenant Bastian (48) M9-G8 (7) Integrated S-Foils (0) Total: 200 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0
  20. Thanks for the quick advice! The jank ideas you threw out there sound fun, and I’ve gone ahead and ordered an RZ-2 to complement this madness. How would something like this look? Vennie (62) Trajectory Simulator (10) Rey (14) Veteran Turret Gunner (6) Proximity Mines (6) Seismic Charges (3) Nien Nunb (55) Heroic (1) Afterburners (6) Integrated S-Foils (0) Pattern Analyzer (5) Blue Squadron Recruit (32) Total: 200 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0 I’m leery about several things here, but it could just be that my instincts aren’t attuned to this faction. For instance, the Starfortress at 101 points seems like a super obvious priority #1 for my opponent; can it pull enough weight to be worthwhile? With Nien, I had to drop Black One to fit in the A-Wing; is it okay to go with Heroic instead? And as for the A-wing... well, it’s naked. But it’s literally the only other ship/pilot that I could shoehorn into 200.
  21. I’ll start this by saying that I never planned to get into Resistance. Back in 1E, I bought into some T-70s and a Resistance Falcon mostly because they were new, had good cards in the packs, and let me fly a 2 Falcon list, which was fun. Fast forward to 2E, and I’ve been paring down most of my Rebel stuff because I’m ready to move on. I managed to offload my Resistance Falcon, but I’ve held onto my Rebel one for nostalgia reasons. All was going well until I got stuck with these two lousy T-70s. Try as I might, no one has wanted to take them. And as I just kept looking at them, something terrible happened. Really the worst possible thing: I fell back in love with the models. I finally broke down and sprang for a deal on the conversion kit. So now I’ve got two T-70s and two Falcons (Rebel and Scum—FIGHT ME), plus a cheap used Starfortress on the way. But I’ll be honest, as I’m looking to start playing games with them, I don’t know what to run for these guys. They look beefy and “heroic,” but I’m much more from the school of spam and jank—my wheelhouse is more like taking an underdog Scum ship and tinkering around until it’s playable. My instincts don’t really map to these straight-laced good guys very well. Here’s a pseudorandom stab at an initial list, but I’m way off the map here—about the only thing I’m going on is that mono-initiative can be helpful when you’re starting something new. But any suggestions would be great. Black Squadron Ace (50) Heroic (1) BB Astromech (4) Integrated S-Foils (0) Black Squadron Ace (50) Heroic (1) BB Astromech (4) Integrated S-Foils (0) Chewbacca (72) Heroic (1) Rey (14) Total: 197 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0
  22. Psycho Tycho 5-ever. 😭 Seriously though, I was bummed that he didn’t return for 2nd. He was my gateway drug for stress-abuse shenanigans. I still have a 20-sided die in my game box for keeping track of his 3-stress-per-turn accumulation rate. His absence is literally one of the reasons why I’m not playing Rebels in 2nd. Hera is worthy, but “Psycho Tycho” is so dang catchy.
  23. @Cuz05 I’ve been so happy with Qi’ra on 4-LOM that I might not fly a G-1A without her unless I was flying two. I like the nasty Trick Shot / park on a rock approach here, too. I’ve been playing Elusive on 4-LOM but I can see how the Zuck would want to maximize his firepower.
  24. FTFY In all seriousness though, this is a really cool exercise. Thanks for doing it!
