That's pretty cool. Saw some of those pics via the 186th and she looked adorable

So looks like Thrawn's back where he belongs: http://io9.gizmodo.com/thrawn-isnt-the-only-surprise-in-the-star-wars-rebels-s-1783780241 Aaand, seems Zahn will be revisiting the Grand Admiral in a new book, out sometime in 2017. Not too shabby!

Please do yourself a favour and look up Of Monsters and Men... Don't know what it is, but I'm pretty much obsessed with it. For some reason, I'm also digging the revival of these weird, 70s (?) inspired grooviness from bands like Purson, Blood Ceremony, Christian Mistress. Oh and Subrosa...heavy, wonderful stuff.

I've been fiddling with a few variations of this, and they've been quite fun, to say the least: Countess Ryad w/ Ptl, Twin Engine MkII and TIE/x7 Sienar Test Pilot w/ Title and Autothrusters Vessery w/ VI, Tractor Beam, TIE/D and Engine Upgrade Hoping to play this tomorrow at a local tournament.

I'm a Project Manager for a London university, mainly dealing with EU-funded research projects. Basically helping academics with all the administrative crap they don't want to deal with.

I'm not saying it's hot out today, but....

Typical British summer over here...I miss Portugal -
This! It would've been incredibly useful to have thought of this beforehand. On the other hand, having finished at the bottom of the list, ended up not moving around that much

Imperial Alpha Strike post Vets: Also causes aces a major headache

Hopefully this won't turn into a new "oh the new defenders are so op'd...Oh they're just annoying mini-uboats" a few months down the line...? -
After organising a regionals, the local shop got a bunch of fancy dice trays..But before that, it's not like everyone's out to toss the dice across the tables like maniacs...Hadn't really thought of it as an issue before, tbh.

Played a great match yesterday, against Echo, a Punisher (w/ Cluster Missiles, Guidance Chips and Extra Munitions and a Bomber (can't remember the actual pilots, and he was also proxying stuff, which made it even harder to keep track). I won it after trusting my luck to a 1-hull Countess Ryad at Range 1 (with TL and a focus), against the Punisher with three hull left. Overall, I wasn't able to use Rexler as much as I wanted, but he still managed to create some chaos with the Tractor Beam, ruining some shots for my opponent (by taking the ships out of arc, basically). On the other hand, the Test Pilot was blown away fairly early, so I had to manage with the two Defenders. One thing that I kept forgetting was the **** TIE D title on Rexler, which would have helped in clearing the board earlier than I eventually did...But that's on me, and my opponent wasn't in a rush to remind me, of course. Having a chat with another player, after the match, he argued for taking Rexler out and bringing in Vessery, but I dunno...It does seem to have potential, since with the Test Pilot, I'm already TL'ing as much as can to get that evade, and the Countess as well, to try and get rid of crappy rolls (which happen more often than I'd like to admit). With this, I'd either keep the Test Pilot or else bring in an F/O (because of the TL). The Interceptor here wouldn't help, unless I brought him with a TC which I don't think I will... Anyway, the list as is seems a really fun one to run and with potential for improvement, as I get more used to it...

That was pretty much the theory exactly!

In that first game I played, I didn't really use him as a flanker, it was more of an agile ship to just get in there and just annoy, letting the Defenders come up behind and bring the pain. It did work, but as I said, it was the guy's first game in a couple of years so I had it easy Now that you mention that, maybe you could take out the Test Pilot and bring in a Royal Interceptor? Or even one of the Alpha Sqds? I'm just thinking of it now, so don't know about the math.

Yes, true, Soontir: the most fun and highest risk/reward on the mat. Having said that, Defenders are a guilty pleasure which I haven't indulged as much as I'd like...
-
The Interceptor, particularly Soontir.

I really like Triple Aces..It's what I tend to fly as well (I'm more into interceptors), but have tried basically a copy of what you have there, using both Vader and OL. I guess it kinda depends on what you aim for. As blade_mercurial said, if you want heavy-hitting bring Vader along. If you can fly him well (which I've had a hard time doing, but that's on me) he can be a relatively decent arc dodger. On the other hand, OL's ability is difficult to argue against and can be a huge pain in the ass. Either way, they're both fun solid lists.

A fellow squint pilot... I'll give it a first go leaving the STP as is, but like I said, I'm curious about the tractor beam, so will try it out as well. Cheers for all the feedback, btw.
-
Hmm, the test pilot is indeed the low priority target, so I can see your point of stripping him down. I admit to not having had the chance to actually look at the tractor beam mechanics...But I've had a look and they look kinda hilarious (i'm really not used to scum shenanigans so I'm coming late to that particular party). In any case, thanks for the advice...I'll take that into account for my game this Wednesday.

So, as many here in the forum, I have been itching to try my hand at the "2.0" version of the TIE Defenders, taking advantage of the upcoming Imp Veterans expansion. At the moment, I had the chance of using the following list in a very laid back game against a mate wanting to get back into X-wing, so I don't think it was a very realistic "baptism of fire". Anyway, this is what I flew: Countess Ryad - Ptl, Twin Ion Engine MkII and TIE/x7 (36) Rexler Brath - VI, Ion Cannon, Engine Upg and TIE/D (45) Sienar Test Pilot - TIE/v1 and Autothrusters Overall, it was great fun to fly (the Countess especially, as she is great at repositioning, particularly taking into account Brath's Ion Cannon and the degree of control it offers against the ionized ship) and I was able to make (relatively) short work of Chewie and heavily tanked up Keyan. However, I'm going to keep trying it in my local x-wing league matches to see how it holds up and, if the expansion launches in the meantime, I might take this in to a July store tournament. Would be great to hear other player's thoughts on it and maybe any tweaks or combos you might think would work better?

An update for Aurora just came out today (I think...) which fixed some issues it had, namely it crashing occasionally, so it might've been fixed already. I usually use it to have squad details to hand, whenever I get a chance to play. Normally use the (yet another) squad builder on my laptop for the bulk of my "list crafting"

Ah don't get down chum we'll leave Europe and kick you out soon enough Oh yeah, completely forgot about that... So long and thanks for all the fish, I guess

As a Portuguese who recently moved to the UK (going on 2.5 yrs now) I didn't expect to find so much little things that "bug" me...Nor did I expect to actually miss the "old country" as much as I do.
-
Why not as a crew card. That would be interesting...Bring along Captain/Admiral Pellaeon as well and that would even cooler.

Had my first tournament experience yesterday, at a Regionals event (in London). I didn't play brilliantly (far from it), and the dice were also particularly unforgiving, so I think I'm a long way from actually having a good place in the rankings, but I definitely want to go on as much of these as I can. Learned a lot from some of my opponents and from just asking around other players, I've started tweaking bits and pieces of my list and thinking of possible new ones as well. It was a brilliant experience.

Am playing tomorrow as well. After much internal debate, have settled with Triple Aces (Squints) and to hell with Jumpmasters. Think I should've practiced a bit more but, oh well...At the very least, it'll be a fun first tournament experience! I'll be sure to be on the look out for a long-haired blonde weirdo then.
