  1. Huh. Just checked and yup, you are correct. The mystery continues...
  2. I hope it gets fix soon as well. Want to get some new RPG players to try it.
  3. The further away the Mantis are from absorbing other minor clans, the better. If the Mantis becomes a Great Clan, awesome, great, lucky you..., but not at the cost of other Minor Clans being absorbed and the possibility of losing their respected identities. Minor Clan Alliance over Yoritomo Alliance all day, everyday.
  4. I can imagine a new Mantis family that warships the Moon... Spooky!
  5. 1000% agree! Hopefully he gets to do another one for this Halloween. Also, his Sins of the Father fictions are most excellent.
  6. Can't say much about the new L5R RPG since I haven't played it. However, the older editions (4th though 1st) had a very lethal combat system (feature not a bug). I don't know if new L5R RPG retains that as a feature. P.S. If you want a book that is a mix between D&D 5th and the old Oriental Adventures from 3.0, check out Heroes of the Oriental for D&D 5th on the DMsGuild https://www.dmsguild.com/product/187283/Heroes-of-the-Orient-Players-and-DMs-Companion
  7. Pretty insightful interview. As much as I like 4th Edition, I agree that I wish there was more mechanics for courtiers, courts and intrigues. I also agree that yes, Its very challenging to get new people into L5R b/c of the setting and themes. Most of the people I introduce to L5R just found the setting and themes to intimidating and uncomfortable unlike the general mechanics. I did found it interesting that they compare Unmasking, Strife and Compromise as mental "wounds" to how getting an injury to the body is physical "wound" That surprised me honestly. Just some of my first reactions.

  9. I do admit that I enjoy the more flavorful titles of the schools now from the beta Doji Diplomat instead of Doji Courtier, for example. Look forward to the other flavorful names. I wonder if this was a suggestion from Kinzen? I only say that b/c I remember many years back on the AEG forums where she express her thoughts on the plain titles used for Clan schools. She also took part in the Alpha for this game too.
  10. New Character Creation Article is up. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2018/8/28/further-questioning/
  11. Following and reading through most of the events/threads at Winter Court 4 was amazing. It is unknown if FFG will have that level of mass interactivity.
  12. Honestly, you have a pretty excellent point there. Its always nice to use familiar language to ease folks into something new IMO. Calling it Raise/Raises instead of Opportunities is a small but nice fix.
  13. Indeed. Even if 5R5 turns out to be not my cup of tea, I'll still post any relevant news/articles/etc I might see since there are folks that really enjoy the new edition from what I can tell.
  14. Maybe the new Roll & Keep system will make a believer out of me. I'm still willing to try it but I am going in with extreme low expectations.
  15. Really hope they make a "Classic" sub-forums for those that stick with the older editions then the new one.

  18. The new fiction, Tiger Stalks His Prey, sets up some pretty dramatic events. After this, FFG is going on a short break for fictions but check it out. https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/67/6e/676e8279-4383-4e8e-a919-e87b932c4ef5/elemental_cycle_lion_webcompressed.pdf
  19. Kami, I would love this. The 1st game takes place during the first 100 years of Rokugan. Each new installment adds another century to it with new stages, characters, stories, etc. Other then that, I would love a L5R Rokugan Tactics (like FF Tactics) game as well.
  20. Wow, an Emerald Empire book. First, is it bad that I like the cover of the Emerald Empire book 10x more then the cover of the Core Book? It has a nice "feeling" to it. Second, I can't wait to read all the fluff. I'll be honestly, the main reason why I got all the 4th Ed books was for the extra fluff. The additional mechanics was just extra. I'm a strong believer that the fluff is as equal as/or more important then the crunch itself. Third, despite my heavy concerns with 5th Edition, I'll will use this book for my 4th Edition games. Again, that Emerald Empire book cover is beautiful.
