CEOWolf reacted to FearLord in The Collector and Discarding from Play
No - they never enter play. See “In and out of play” final bullet point on page 9 of the Rules Reference.

CEOWolf got a reaction from ProfessorDetective in Arkham Digital?
So LoTR Card Game online is doing well far as I've heard I even bought an early access pack tbh. But I'm hoping Asmodee and FGG Interactive will create an Arkham ccg that'll be pretty fun! Have a blank map and as you explore it reveals more and battling various freaky monsters as you collect clues. LoTR and Arkham are effectively the games for LCG model after the rather unfortunate forced discontinuation of Net. I'm hoping to see Arkham Card Game as a second LCG mmo.

Definitely one of my favorites is it wrong to be turned on by an evil god?

CEOWolf reacted to Abyss in The Unfortunate Situation of Alter Egos
Honestly, the real issue is that they called it 'Alter Ego', which gives the impression of being about a hero/'civilian' identity split. And then made all the characters in the Core fit that impression.
If they had have called it something else to indicate that it's just a 'non combat' role, it would have been fine.

Not my favorite but I found the cat picture.

CEOWolf reacted to ScottieATF in Interesting Choices
Because a character that doesn't control their ability that litterally transformers them from alter-ego to hero would be a really bad choice for a game with a core mechanic of being able to switch between those two things turn to turn. Specifically in a core set where you want things to not violate too many mechanics off the bat.
I don't think you really thought this question through in a rush to declare pandering.
And the Hulk is included as an ally. And true to his comic book form he makes a big impact but is unreliable.

CEOWolf reacted to Tolheim in Card Game Meets Elder?
I played a demo at PAX west this year, and it definitely feels like the hybrid child of the LCG and Eldritch Horror.

CEOWolf reacted to netherspirit1982 in The game will get stale fast?
This game is going to require that people adjust their thinking. Instead of acquiring the best cards and building the best deck, you have to make the best of the deck you have. You have to learn and adjust on the fly.
Will some decks be better than others? I'm sure, but I'd bet that the VAST majority of the decks are going to be somewhere in the middle and that tactics, skill and card knowledge will play way more of a factor than the cards in your deck.

CEOWolf reacted to Derrault in Punishing skill...
If anything this might be the only card game outside of the old standards that actually depends on skill. Hearthstone and Magic are both almost entirely about deep pockets and net decking.

I'm thinking of using these instead for Aember tokens

CEOWolf reacted to Krashwire in I for one can’t wait! What House has everyone got their eye on?
It doesn't matter, you don't get to pick what you play unless you get really lucky or wait to buy off of the secondary market. Thus one of the most glaring flaws of this game for most who would want to play a card game.

CEOWolf reacted to RedMageStatscowski in Late April Fool's Joke?
I feel that is the point, it's a jungle out here. I might not get a playstyle I want, but I'll make do and LEARN the deck I happen to have. Besides, from my experience in TCG communities, I've always been told that my deck is trash, and top tier stuff would beat me, yet I always beat them. It'll just be the same here too.
Also, I can always just call it "collecting Archons".

CEOWolf reacted to Zetan in Iiiinteresting
I just don't know if I can get behind the concept. Like, generally there are factions I like better than others in any game. But to get my three favorite factions all in one deck, there's like a 1 in 35 chance of that? So spending, on average, $350 digging for the deck I want?
I realize the intent is "play with what you get" like sealed in a CCG, but I'd rather have some control over what I'm going to get. I'd be a lot more excited about this game if the box listed at least one of the three factions on the box, so you have a little bit of an idea of what playstyle you're getting into. Playstyle is a big part of a gamer's identity, and if you're a control player and open up a trio more suited to aggro, you're going to have a bad time. Then spending more money to "reroll," knowing full well the next $10 deck might also not be suited to your style, feels really bad.
I think at the end of the day, while they're hyping "no deckbuilding" as an upside, for me, it's a downside. I imagine there will be a lot of others like me in that regard. It's a hard sell.

Looks fun to me. I love playing decks, but I don't always love to actually build them soooooooo perfect game?

CEOWolf reacted to LordPyrex in Barricades?
You are able to use an action to move a barricade away from a door or secret passage.
Barricades can't be moved from one space to another unless a specific action allows you to, so if there are multiple doors in the same space as the barricade, then yes. Otherwise no.
When testing a monsters brawn against a barricade, if they pass then they burst through the door and get their full movement and available attack.
Hope this helps! If you are looking for more answers then look in the Rules Reference, page 5.
The app shows which space the barricade is added in, you can then use an action to move it against a door in that space. Once the app spawns a barricade it will vanish because the game doesn't know when an investigator moves it for use or when a monster busts through one destroying it. Keep in mind that the only thing that the app leaves visible on the map are items that will need to be interacted like a search token that will provide more information about an object, an explore token to open a door to a new room, or an interact token for special events. Anything else will show you where it spawns, but after that it will be removed.

CEOWolf reacted to LordPyrex in Super Lost Here
Not sure where the person you were playing with found that rule... The Rules Reference, page 17 explains any other questions you might have regarding the use of spells.
One more thing regarding Damage and Horror. You'll eventually find events that will give you both. Whatever test you are using to counter can be used to negate whichever of the cards you would like. For example if you suffer 2 Horror and 1 Damage and roll 2 successes, you could use this to get rid of one of each or both Horror cards.
And don't forget that Damage/Horror is dealt face-up unless the app specifically says 'face-down'.

CEOWolf reacted to scrubbless in Super Lost Here
For these tests you take the damage, then you roll your test. In this case you roll you Lore, every success 'ignores' (aka negates) one damage.
For example you have a lore of 3, the test states "suffer 3 damage (lore negates)".
You roll your three dice for lore and get one success. You take 2 damage (3 damage - 1 success rolled).
The monsters move randomly, towards or away from investigators. There is no way for the app to track their position, as there is no way for the app to track the investigators position.
Each spell has 5 cards, when you gain a spell shuffle its deck and take one card. That's your spell.
When you use the spell, resolve the effects on the back card and return it to the spells deck (there is no discard pile), then shuffle the entire spells deck (all 5 cards) and pick a new one. You will always have a 1/5 chance of pulling the same flip side effect of a spell.
It calls this out in the rule book.
