Bucho got a reaction from jbudd in Will Unbreakable Bonds be reprinted?
FFG failed hardcore. They got themselves into a business model where the moment they weren't in the process of releasing an expansion for a line their entire customer base determined that it was going out of print and refused to buy in. Ergo they've been trying to juggle all that progressively badly for years. Everything has noticeably suffered as a result, I mean Runebound is almost completely an empty box for Dog sake. So of course that sort of nonsense hurt sales and their response has been to try and force prices higher 🙄 With the predictable effect.
So I think at this point they're trying to prune way back just to get some breathing room as a precursor to fundamentally rethinking the way they go about things.

Bucho got a reaction from Anoik in “Official” replacement for villager tokens
Yeah, the cores $30 on amazon (and it had dropped down to $23 for a bit there). That's for 48 minis so it comes out to under $0.63 a mini. It doesn't just have a set of uniform guard mini's. There's a bunch of undead in there that I use for all sorts of games as well as a reanimate for the necromancer. It gets you out of buying the Ardus Ix'Erebus lieutenant. There's a much better golem sculpt.
And I haven't found a use for this yet other than terrifying players by pulling it out of the box but still worth it:

Bucho got a reaction from twincast in INFO/LEAKS about the future of DESCENT From BGG forum
Alternatively, he might be trying to make the point that FFG scuttling all their other terrinoth products over an extremely short period of time is a bad sign...

Except for Mansions of Madness, also war gamers were not whelmed by the soft plastic of Runewars, Runebound was still using the tiny minis descent started with plus sticker dice (what is this the 80's?). And that's just the games I'm still keeping track of, I've largely given up on FFG. I think they get the problem exists but are too into penny pinching to really fix it.
I think their plan of releasing half a game to convince people to buy a bunch of expansions stopped working out. It's not just that scheme doesn't compete well. People have picked up on it so the moment they aren't producing content for a line everyone freaks out that it's over and stops buying into the game.
I think they got super over saturated trying to keep up with the demand for expansions with the diminishing return that yields and trying to produce new lines. The end result being that they've been botching everything lately. Have they pruned back enough to be functional now, who knows.
But getting a rep for being the company that cancels everything I expect to be quite harmful moving forward.

Bucho got a reaction from thinkbomb in Clearanced!?!
I wouldn't say they're typical. While 3 other local game stores collapsed they have doubled in size. They have previously had a ton of space set aside for every single thing descent and imperial assault. For them to be clearancing all of it has to mean that at least in my neck of the woods it just isn't selling.

My local game store is getting rid of it's Imperial Assault inventory. That's been a bad sign for previous games....

Bucho reacted to DerDelphi in The Shadow Rune Project
Hello Everyone,
today I'm glad to announce, that the quests of "The Shadow Rune Project" are finally completed and implemented. As of today you are able to play a complete campaign Just grab the newest Valkyrie release (2.4.0.1 or later) and download the campaign inside the application to play it.
At this point I really want to thank all contributors to the project, but especially Tantum, who was the driving force behind keeping the project alive in the last year. He alone designed about half of the quests in the campaign, and the project would be far from done without him.
While the campaign is completely playable, there is still some work to do. Due to the number of quests and their complexitiy, it is pretty likely that there are some minor and major bugs, which could cause all sorts of problem. Due to this, I would be very grateful if you could post any issues you encounter at The Shadow Rune Github repository over here.
We are also planning to update some of the quests, add new features as soon as the are available in Valkyrie, and overall improve the balancing of the campaign. We are also open for suggestions.
Looking back to out first release, which was almost 2 and a half years ago, I'm really glad the project was finally completed. There were a lot of challgenes to face during development, but we made it
Thanks to everyone who still has passion for this game and wants to give the campaign a try.
For the record, here is our latest changelog:
- Added the missing quests "The Desecrated Tomb", "Blood of Heroes", "The Twin Idols", "The Wyrm Turns", "The Wyrm Rises", "Gryvorn Unleashed" and "The Man who would be King" by Tantum
- Completed implementation of the campaign phase (all quests are now playable!).
Important Note: Please use Valkyrie 2.4.0.1 to run the campaign. Older versions will run into an issue which leads to savegame corruption.

Bucho got a reaction from Oak tree in There's hope
You know the only thing surprising about oops the orc is that nobody else has a single scar... I would think that venturing into small spaces to fight large dragons would be dangerous business. Tahlia is a good point though....why is she wearing pants AND a skirt? Especially when the other characters make it clear that pants haven't been invented yet?.....? Wait a second...the giants have pants too....is it JUST circus pants that exist in terrinoth....

Bucho got a reaction from becauseofyou in Are monsters groups with small numbers under powered?
It's already been done, twice. This rule set needs a third threat system about as much as it needs another page of damage tokens.
Oh yeah, the problem lies in that he'd have to rewrite (and do a ton of playtesting) on each encounter that he'd want to port over to a different system.

Bucho reacted to Strawhat in Upcoming FFG live stream!
LINK to IA thread. The video is a few posts down.
The gist is that, for at least the next year, there is nothing physical planned for Imperial Assault. There are a couple things scheduled for the app, though. But no new figs, boxes, etc.

Bucho reacted to Alicitorte in I designed the Elementalist and the Soul Reaper classes for Lost Legends AMA!
Hello everyone!
A bit of background: I'm Nick, I'm 19 years old and a first year student at UC Santa Cruz. During the summer of 2018, I had the tremendous opportunity to intern at FFG, which had been a dream of mine for many years. In many ways, I grew up on FFG games, and I owe my passion for tabletop gaming to them. First with Rune Age, then with Descent 2nd Edition. I can say with confidence I have played that board game more than any other over the course of my life, and so after about 2 weeks at the internship I was entrusted with working on the Lost Legends expansion. It was and still is to this day the coolest thing I've done. My main coworker on this project was Jim, whom you can see in the live playthrough that was released on youtube. Working together, I couldn't have asked for a better colleague, he was the most understanding, supportive, and genuinely good person I've met. But being given that much trust also came with responsibilities. I was so scared, I wanted to make the best thing I could for the community, and for a game I deeply loved. It seemed monumental, even though as you all know, this expansion is "only" a set of classes.
I worked the hardest I had ever worked on this project, and I can say I gave it my all, first with the Soul Reaper, who came together rather quickly, and then second with the Elementalist, which took us much longer to figure out. Now, to be clear, I did the initial design for those classes, and then worked on revisions, up to a point. After I left (about 2 months in), Jim kept working on the project and with the aid of playtesters, incorporated their feedback into the final versions. I also did initial designs for I believe 5 of the hybrid classes (which I'm not sure have all been revealed yet). It's been so exciting to see this project come to life, and now that it's close to release, I figured it was a good time to post about it. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to comment and I'll do my best to answer everything. Obviously there is a lot of information I cannot disclose, but I'll try to answer in the measure that I can.
I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this expansion, and see what the community thinks of our hard work!

Bucho got a reaction from allenkwest in Do you know if FantasyFlightGames still answer questions about the game?
Yeah they gave up on the quest vault. Yeah it was a huge deal to about ten people. Considering the second sentence we really couldn't expect anything other than the first sentence.
Star Wars Descent, more commonly called imperial assault is also feeling the neglect and at least descent has avoided the price hikes....

Bucho got a reaction from Lightningclaw in Do you know if FantasyFlightGames still answer questions about the game?
Price-wise it's a great value and a great game. I'm sure there will still be copies around when you put together the money for it.
