They wont announce the end of a game they dont "complete".  If they did they would risk leaving plastic on shelves and in the warehouses.  Its a crappy thing to do to the community since it puts us in a state of 'will they/wont they, but its the right business decision to try move their remaining product.
As far as I'm concerned this product strategy never made any sense.  It's a fantastic product, when we did demos on x-wing day the x-wing players couldn't get enough.  I've only demo'd the game to one guy (out of 20 or so) who didn't want to play more.  The thing that stopped them was the companies hesitance to support their game.  Which brings me to my main point.  FFG never made a grand push to get ppl into RW after GenCon.
If I was developing a product I would understand that advertising is going to be a critical element of the products success.  You cant just put something out there with minimal advertisement and then when it doesn't do well just say it's a dog and it was never going to sell anyways.
It is frustrating to no end that this community is more passionate about the game than it's content owners.  That I did demos on my own time and FFG wanted nothing to do with in store demos.
I'll still play and I hope to see a group of you at GenCon this year so we can shout at FFG across the game floor and let them know we love this game, and given a chance - a real chance others would come on board as well!

I'm sad to hear this news. I'm not super fond of  the terrain rules (prefer the way other miniatures games handle terrain), and imho heroes are a bit too powerful, but its still a fantastic game. Twin dials is brilliant, and so is the way to avoid buckets of dice.
IMHO what hurt this game was the two factions on launch, and the price. There should have been 4 factions on launch, one of which should have been Elves - so many people I demo-ed the game to when the game launched said game looks nice, but I'll wait for the Elves. And imho, the fourth faction should have been another popular race such as dwarves or orcs.  The price! In Australia, a unit expansion was AU$45 each (X wing small ships are AU$28-30). So when I wanted to add a 2x2 cavalry unit to my force, $90! When I added a 3 x 1 crossbowmen unit, $90!
L5R is a good ip. I would not be surprised if FFG launched a skirmish miniatures game for L5R in the future (there's already a couple skirmish medieval Samurai games about). If it had some innovations like Runewars did, I would probably give it a shot.

I do feel alot of this is the fault of FFG. Just take a look at the news today.

Friday - Runewars no longer tournament supported
Monday - 2 hot hot units for Starwars Legion.

Sure we had the Lord of the Rings announcement at the same time but that is for an entirely different genre. FFG basically shelved Runewars to Ride Legion high for close to 6 months at the start of 2018.

No, they just are focusing on more profitable lines.  All I hope they learned is you cannot half *** a miniature wargame.  You need to have enough units and enough variety for it to survive.
They've learned this with X-Wing.  We've gone from 2 factions to 3, then to 5, and soon we'll be at 7.  Runewars wallowed at 2 factions with too few options for too long, and when it did bump up, it was after an incredibly long drought.
I think I'm most likely going to just start creating my own units for my group to expand on the game.  Stuff will be on-line really cheap so trays and dials will be easy to find, and for new dials, you just print on peel and stick paper to turn an old dial into a new one.

Runewars 2.0. Run it on an app with no points on the cards themselves. Seems to work well for Xwing. Now we just have to wait a few years for the new edition >.<

Well, to be fair, 2.0 is really pretty new, so we haven't had a chance to see if it will work. That being said, It's an objectively better system compared to costs on cards. Thats not a debate. If they use it correctly or not, is.

Hos reacted to millertime059 in whats ur strategy vs quadjumpers?
So o played a small tournament where I came in second flying exactly this list. Every single list, and I mean every one, I faced that day had quads. All but one had multiple. All but one list had Palob.
Heres what I did, and keep in mind that it was a tough battle all day. My victories tended to be low scoring affairs. My first match was something like 56-27 in my favor. I won one match by one point. So, yeah, not dominance.
But here is what I tried to set up. The turn before engagement be just outside range three. If you can do that, with those ships, that’s the magic number. Half a base length is all you need, it is now mathematically impossible for them to get into tractor range. Next turn, ride hard into their grill. Use rocks if you can or pull a pincer maneuver if possible. But do a minimum speed three, bumping is even ok. Rexler is ideal here, but Soontir can play the role. Both from different angles getting to range one (if multiple tugs) if needed. The idea is to fast move, and boost as needed to block all positions where they could tractor. Speed one bumps reverse gives stress, faster moves go past you. But you want to try and block them for next turn.
If successful, you have now put the tugs out of the battle for a bit. They may s-loop, and if you suspect that then GO FAST. Get out of dodge. But what you want to do is take a drive by shot at the tugs, block their tractor after first engage, then zoom off behind them to get at Palob or Zuckuss or whatever.
It ain’t easy. And if you screw up and wind up at the edge of range three? Tough luck. Though, if you can, try and make the engagement angle 45 degrees, so that they can’t 4 straight to tractor. Being at range 3, but at an angle is nearly as good as being just outside of range 3.
Or just plan accordingly, and assume you will get tractored and position yourself and dial maneuvers assuming the worst possible placement. If you know you can’t get out of it, just lean into it and just suck it up and run and reset, if possible.

Hos reacted to millertime059 in Can anyone explain to me what hyperspace format is?
As a primary empire player, I hate the hyperspace list options. Granted getting the striker is a big boost, but no Interceptor no sale.
Its irksome because the X1 really needs a support ship more than most, but the Reaper is a difficult (note I did not say impossible) ship to fill that role with. Admittedly the YT-1300 isn’t burning things up for the Rebels either.
But it looks like the Empire is the weakest of the three original factions by a fair margin. We’ll see. Maybe points adjustments will help, but I don’t see the X1 being that useful until the Lambda is on scene. And the U-wing I’ve gotten solid work from, but it’s biggest buddies aren’t around.
Bah, I’m just not a fan of the format since none of my top 5 ships are available. And proton torp Rebels and various Scum squads seem so much better than what the empire is bringing.
Wake me in wave 5, maybe I’ll be interested then.

You are building your own fantasy adventure story, two heroes sacrificed themselves for the benefit of others, and the goal was achieved. You won in my book, however there is room for improvement to try and defeat with all heroes intact.  I always tell my own story as i play which helps make it fun win or lose really.

    You have a couple choices:
An initiative 5 alpha barage swarm. All 5 bombers fire at initiative five so Jonus isnt PS killed by something like Wedge and Luke with proton torpedoes, etc. before your bombers fire. Could also erase another jonus or any other PS4 ship before they fire at jonus!

I flew a little with a similar Vynder.  I ran Lone Wolf instead of Advanced Proton Torpedoes, and liked how he felt.
There's also another option: a non-Rexler Defender.  I feel like a Delta with Fire Control System still packs a lot of punch.  75 points, and if it's ever the endgame piece in a 1-on-1, you'll have rerolls and focus/evade every turn.  Can even skip the FCS and just run at 72 points, I think.  That'd allow Redline with Proton Torpedoes and Advanced Sensors (bomb might be hard to fit), and either of a Soontir or Vynder pretty decently built.
I'm just kind of obsessed with Delta Defenders.  They've done very well for me in 2e so far.

Doing Coordinate on a Redline to make it Barrel Roll outside of block then Lock and on his move remove the stress and do focus + another Lock to make sure you have a good target is kind of nice. Doing the same thing on Tie Advance V1 can also be cool.
Is it broken has was Silencer + Advance Sensor, no, but we are in V2, not in V1 where even this combo was not good enough to break tournament where you were PS 11 killed. PS 9 was far from a guaranteed arc dodge.

2.0 has been with a lot of people in some form or another for a while now.  One of the new things is the Bullseye arc  (unless you were a big Kimo fan).
My experience so far has been that abilities that use Bullseye have been useful in different ways in a few different situations.
1.)  Soontir Fel.  He gets double repositioning to get the Bullseye, and a token if he manages it.  He gets Bullseye the easiest and gets a lot out of it.  You really want to pursue the Bullseye with him.
2.)  Range 1 Bullseye, intentional of incidental.  If you have a Bullseye ability, you maybe aim for it at R1 more than other ranges.  Probably principally with ships that can link a roll or boost into Focus, though.
3.)  Range 2-3 Bullseye, incidental.  In this situation, I've been pretty content to just let it happen if it happens, but don't aim for it.  It seems too difficult at initial impressions to be worth chasing.

I keep thinking that maybe there's something that can be done to aim for the 2-3 range Bullseye band, though, and I wanted to see if anyone had ideas or experience in techniques that would help maximize a range 2-3 bullseye.
The idea that seems best so far is careful blocking. If you know where you'll go, and you think you know the opponent's move, you could theoretically use blocking to nudge them a bit into the Bullseye.  This would be easier with a large base blocker or multiple smaller blockers.  There's also the beneficial side effect of denying an action in the process.
Another possibility would be to try an offset deployment angle to try and ensure your ship is never liked up square on the target ship.  This increases the Bullseye target size just a bit, and has other advantages in addition.
Has anyone else tried or thought of anything?  It seems like there's a lot to be gained by more regularly activating your Bullseye arc.
