KrisWall got a reaction from twincast in 3d printable scenery
If you own the printer and know how it works, you can load a file, hit print and come home to a finished product. If you want a half dozen bunkers, just do that every morning for a week. For someone with limited time, being able to hit print and walk away is a godsend.
You are right, though. Building your own bunker by hand isn't hard. It just takes too much time for me.

KrisWall reacted to The Jabbawookie in Increasing the Total Fleet Cap, But Without Increasing the Total Ship or Squadron Cap. Wut?!?
My squadless fleets almost entirely use the apparatus of having my ships kill their ships. No bells, no whistles, just 6-7 activations, Demolisher, and a 25 point bid. When I get a win against a carrier fleet, it's because my immediate destructive power against ships outweighed their immediate destructive power against ships.
On my end, having 2 more rogues does nothing for that.
The carrier fleet gets the cost of a CR90/Corvus lifeboat to not get tabled. Or to add Yavaris if they didn't have it, or to upgrade a Pelta to an MC80. That's a huge deal.
The problem I have with this is it ignores the very reason we don't see SFCs right now. Against LFCs, they don't act as an effective speed bump because of how quickly the squadron game snowballs (Squall, Intel, and Sloane are probably the primary causes.) Forcing players to take either an SFC or LFC won't change that.
We have a beautiful set of test cases in the form of sector fleet rules. The cap for squads scales differently, and it's great. The game I remember most keenly is the one where I traded 68 points of aces for 11 TIE interceptors, with second player. I had max squads. He did not.
That's my point exactly.
I don't object to increasing the format to 450 points. What I do object to is a cap on how I build my fleets, that hurts my playstyle, because someone else thinks it's fun or immersive.

Scatter is fine for flotillas. I absolutely hate it on squadrons, but they already have counter.

KrisWall got a reaction from EbonHawk in Corvus / Surprise Attack
I think it depends on how you interpret Surprise Attack. The specific rules in question are below. My reading is that the entirety of the second paragraph only applies "while deploying fleets". Corvus's effect occurs "after deploying fleets". I would allow an opponent to redeploy Corvus anywhere in his or her deployment zone and at any speed. HOWEVER, I can easily see the ambiguity and am not sure how I would rule as a TO at an event. The clear "fluff" intention of the mission is that you are surprising the opposing fleet while their flagship is docked at the station. I can see an argument where only the first sentence of the second paragraph applies "while deploying fleets" and that the other two sentences are more general restrictions that apply during the entirety of the mission. This interpretation would allow Corvus to redeploy, but would require redeployment to a position overlapping the station and at a maximum speed of 2.
Curious to see what everyone thinks. I think my initial interpretation is correct, but I could easily see this generating a clarifying FAQ in the future.
Surprise Attack
"Setup: The second player places the station at distance 1-5 of the first player's edge. Then place the remaining obstacles as normal.
While deploying fleets, the first player must deploy their flagship before deploying any other ships. Their flagship must overlap the station, even if the flagship extends beyond their deployment zone. The first player cannot deploy any ship at a speed greater than half of that ships maximum speed (rounded up).
After deploying fleets, the second player places 3 facedown command dials in a stack on this card.
Special Rule: At the start of the Ship Phase during the first, second, and third rounds, the second player reveals the top command dial on this card, and each of the first player's ships gains a raid token matching that dial."
Corvus
"After deploying fleets you may redeploy this ship within your deployment zone."

KrisWall got a reaction from General_Grievous in Destiny has now met its destiny, FFG has just killed the game off
Coop LCGs tend to have a lot of legs. The LotR LCG has been going forever and still has new product in the pipeline. The Arkham Horror LCG shows no sign of slowing down. Marvel Champions will likely be the same way. I'd be ecstatic if they announced a coop LCG for Star Wars.
Competitive CCGs are a tough sell. Most fail sooner than later.

Not surprised at all.
The first set was great. It was a fun and casual competitive game featuring a popular IP. A lot of people I know bought into it. Then, the second set hit and the game dynamic changed. The game felt quicker, more combo heavy and not nearly as fun for my casual crowd. I remember the designer at the time saying that this was exactly as intended. Literally everyone I know gave up on it at this point. I'm a little surprised the game lasted this long. It just didn't have mass appeal. I feel that they may have had better luck steering it in a direction that led to longer, more casual games and less in the direction of "I got out cards X, Y and Z... you want to play it out or just concede?".
Maybe we'll get a quality replacement game.

I mean... this has been their policy all along. It has applied to all of their subscriptions for a long time...
"If your subscription is active, you will be charged for and receive every new release for that subscription. Once you have been charged for a product a refund is not available."

KrisWall got a reaction from thestag in It's FRIDAY!!!!! Who will we see spoiled today??
In fairness, Destiny didn't have mass appeal and hasn't been selling well for a very long time. The first set sold well. The second set changed the feel of the game from fun and casual competitive to fast and cutthroat. I don't think that's what a lot of people were looking for and no subsequent set sold as well as those initial packs. I was actually a little surprised to find that FFG was still producing Destiny. I hadn't seen any in a gaming store (I frequent multiple) for so long that I assumed the game had been cancelled already.

They're just learning the same lesson Disney is, you can't just slap 'Star Wars' on crap and expect money to rain from the sky.

I haven't posted it yet. I'll post it sometime this weekend and I'll definitely share a link then. I still need to print out the part that holds the smaller status cards. I usually try not to post to Thingiverse until I have a full sample print to show off.

Thought you guys might want to see this. I designed and printed an insert for the core box. Should fit quite a few cards. The token box slots into the center. There's even a slot for the reference cards.
EDIT: Added to Thingiverse... https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3965248

KrisWall got a reaction from Norell in Corvus / Surprise Attack
I think that's a tough argument because Corvus itself says the effect occurs "after deploying fleets". You aren't deploying fleets again. You're just redeploying the one ship.
I think we need FFG to weigh in on this one.

Hello from Reddit!
The mini-figs that you are proposing are outside of Lego's general scope of products. They don't make sets for mature properties as they are toys designed for and aimed at kids. Also, thank you for not trying to pass the mini-figs that I designed off as your own this time.
Also, Your link doesn't work.
