L5R FAQ - A compilation of rulings
Dan4GS replied to Bayushi Shunsuke's topic in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game
Saw this last night... If a opponents card effects bring one of my characters into a military conflict when pacifism is already attached to that same character, what happens? Is that character ineligible for the effect? Does the character come into the conflict then immediately go home bowed? Thanks! -
Same =(

Thanks. I thought that was how it worked but wanted to be sure before I tried it in a game.

Simple question, can Hux give a focus (and thus the condition card too) to a ship that is carrying him? For example, if I've got a shuttle with Hux and two other ships, can I give one focus to all ships and the fanatical devotion card to the shuttle? Thanks for the replies!

I've had two issues with broken ships that were not my fault (lots more were) and both times FFG replaced my ship no problem. The issue seems more like a problem getting the pics to them. Try putting them in paint and cutting down the size...after several attempts at that I got my pictures to fit and got my ships replaced.

So this game in a tourny yesterday. I was flying Stele against a ghost which happened to receive Major Hull Breach as its first damage card (faceup, of course). Next turn Ghost can't get rid of the crit and Stele does 2 damage and 1 crit. Since major hull breach reads "All damage cards dealt to you are dealt faceup" and Stele reads "When your attack deals a faceup damage card to the defender..." does Stele then get to choose each of the crits deal or just the one crit rolled? Our T/O ruled just the crit but I believe that was incorrect. Thanks for any replies!

I've run this with some success (even beating a good Palp aces player): Airen Cracken, VI, Concussion Missiles, Guidance Chips Wedge Antilles, Crack Shot, BB-8, Proton Torpedos, Guidance Chips Horton Salm, R2-D6, VI, Proton Torpedos, Extra Munitions, Guidance Chips, Twin Laser Turret Cracken/Salm are at 10 so easy to get target locks and aces have to move before you. Cracken gives a focus to Salm or Wedge after shooting first. Wedge shooting a torp at any TIE (minus stealth device) means they roll 2 dice, he can crack shot an evade, so they are probably either dead or about dead (hit and crit at the least). It takes a lot of people by surprise. Low survivability so really have to take at least one ship off the board before they shoot back. Fun to play though.

I went to the Roanoke tourny with my brother. We aren't often able to attend big tourneys and it was kind of a special event for both of us, as we're both more towards the casual side and ultimately neither of us is that great (I finished #35 and he was mid 20's I think). I've read some of the fallout from the Top 8 and wanted to share a couple of thoughts. Rather anyone cares or not, well, flame away if you like or "like" if you like. ;-) With all the negativity I feel it's important to point out just how many good people are playing the game. I played 6 people (5 of whom I'd never met before) and my brother played another 6, and we both agreed everyone was a good sport and we'd say was a good ambassador for the game. Don't let your perceptions of the actions of a few taint the fact that the vast majority of X-Wing players are really good people and make the game extremely fun. Even going 2-4 on the day (which I was disappointed and a bit ashamed of), I had a great time and made friends I'll hopefully see in the Raleigh regionals. Second, I've seen some blame the TO/the store for the Top 8 but I don't think that's fair. The tournament was run very well and the TO seemed to do a great job all day long. Granted I wasn't close to the top 8 when the ID's were discussed so I don't know how those conversations went, but let's not tarnish names that don't deserve to be tarnished. It was a well run tournament and the store even threw in door prizes (hey, at least I won a free Ghost because I sure didn't win much else that day!). Third, I've seen some people bash Paul Heaver and/or Nova Squadron and others in the Top 8 for their decisions. Arguments can be made all day about rather it's right or wrong, but even if we want to say it is wrong, let's not judge people on one decision. Every single person here has made mistakes in life (again, not saying their ID was wrong, that's up for debate), and no one wants to be judged on one moment in their life. I'll bet that if you make a mistake you want to be judged for your intentions instead of your actions. Afford other people the same opportunity. Perhaps one or more of the top 8 is a real douchebag. Is that your job to point out? All the negativity hurts the game we enjoy. Let's discuss rule changes and solutions instead of throwing mud. Fourth, I don't know Paul Heaver but I saw him before the tourny, and as with many wide-eyed newer players, I went and introduced myself to the three time world champ. He was courteous, smiled, shook my hand, and even explained what list he was running that day and what his strategy with it was. Honestly I was a bit shocked. He didn't have to go so far to be "polite", he could have just shook my hand and wished me luck, but he went above and beyond. Perhaps Paul is the jerk some of you view him as, but I work in law enforcement and run across many people everyday who are real jerks so I have learned to evaluate people pretty quick. Paul was genuine, so don't judge him for some comments he made when so many lashed out at him and others (mainly him, because he's the most well known). If you back a dog into a corner, even one that is usually friendly, he's going to bite. TLDR: There are many great people playing the game. Stop throwing mud, give people the benefit of the doubt, and remember that even good people (like you) have made mistakes and shouldn't be judged on a one time event or a forums post. Let's get back to X-Wing fun and address the rule in question in positives ways.

So I was re-reading the rulebook for peculiar rules and brush up before regionals and noticed this: 4. Place Obstacles: Starting with the player with initiative, each player chooses one obstacle token from the obstacles available and places it in the play area. The players place a total of six obstacle tokens. Obstacles cannot be placed at Range 1 of each other, or at Range 1–2 of an edge of the play area. After the sixth obstacle is placed, the player who does not have initiative chooses an edge of the play area to be his own; his opponent’s edge is the opposite side of the play area. Has anyone ever seen someone choose a side other than what's in front of them? Seems to me it'd be a sneaky strategy to place asteroids in a different manner knowing that you'll choose a different side as your own (if you don't have initiative). Thoughts?

Wondering what people think of this list (Wes, Ten Numb, Stresshog)
Dan4GS replied to Numenor's topic in X-Wing Squad Lists
I think you're on the right track but unless you kill a U-boat before they fire (even if one is stripped), your survivability is low. I'm looking at Wes +BB8 (do 1 straight greens, barrel roll backwords, helps keep you at distance and avoid bumps) + VI+ IA. Lets him move after all Aces except Vader +VI which makes it very tough for them and you can strip a focus or TL they might need to really hurt you. I am strongly considering Autothrusters instead of IA though, but my list is at 98 points and the 2 point initiative bid is crucial for the rest of my list. Good luck though, would love to hear how it turns out.
