  1. Hi! The regionals I helped organize this past weekend did not pass out the defective tokens. We were ordered my FFG to "destroy" them. Instead, we passed out slips of paper to collect the addresses of the top 16. The store will be receiving the replacement tokens, and we will be having to ship them out to the top 16 ourselves. However, we have not received the replacements yet. Some stores have, I've heard. I would reach out to the store you won them at, but they may not have a resolution for you just yet!
  2. I mean yah you're really lucky. You did well, and as I kept saying your ultimate downfall was going to time every time! Everyone flew really well and I really enjoyed regionals. It was a great time and all the players were truly wonderful. I'm excited to have them back!
  3. For what it's worth, second place at our store championship was a Tie Swarm. Fly what you like! It's a game, have fun. When I'm checking in lists, I love to see stuff out of the "meta". It gets me excited to see new, creative builds that I don't see a lot of. Those are the players I track and see how they do because I'm curious. I know, generally, how a Palp shuttle with Darth flies. But when someone comes up with something unique it's fun to watch and see how it plays out.
  4. Thank you for your story. It's sad to hear from other sides of the coin the way the system works against us. A system ran by humans will have human mistakes - including judgements and prejudices. Maybe one day we will overcome them. And thanks for the compliment. I have tried to keep a level head. It hasn't been easy.
  5. No harm, no foul. We're actually on the same page I think. As was stated earlier(possibly by you?), it costs me nothing to empathize when someone's been wronged, regardless of the truth of the matter (again, not talking about you specifically; talking in more broad terms). At the end of the day, if someone lies to me and I give them my sympathy, I'm still no less off than when I started the day. Yep, I am the one that's being saying that this whole thread. I think it's a great message!
  6. Not sure if anyone has commented on this (I'll admit to not readying EVERY post on the thread) but I find it equal parts sad, ironic and distracting that HurricaneMaanen's avatar is basically a down-blouse shot. While I'm guessing this is a female character in some game which she enjoys, it's a pretty blatant indictment that the gaming industry has a ways to go before we can get strong female characters without having to sexualize them. (Not meant to be a shot at you personally; please do not take it as such) It's a character from the Arkham Horror line of games. Also, hey guys, remember when someone posted about being assaulted and what really matters is that she has a female avatar on a forum that (as far as I can tell) doesn't let you have custom avatars, because its distracting? Rabble rabble. Sorry you took it that way. That was never my intent. Obviously what happened to you is not to be taken lightly. I appreciate the fact that you've gone thru an awful experience and you actually have my empathy. My point was it's a bit sad that someone such as yourself who is obviously passionate about gaming and has dealt with such crap has to deal with the objectification of women in a hobby that you so love. Sorry I didn't meant to get so angry. I just realized that was upset that I had people from the beginning of the thread discounting my experiencing, demanding proof, and I finally gave as much proof as I could bear to over an Internet forum and it went completely ignored because it made people uncomfortable. I'm sorry. You kind of got bit by the knee jerk reaction that caused me to realize that what I say truly doesn't matter and that's such a tough realization when you're trying to help someone. Sorry again. Went on a tangent. It is sad that the female representation in gaming is alright as best. I have hope it'll get better though.

  9. For what it's worth, you're welcome to come to the tournaments I'm TOing and verify that I present as female. It's okay to be skeptical however.. you know... it costs you nothing to not be a jerk. Not saying you have been. Just being general.
  10. You apologize like a real Canadian, I'll give you that
  11. As a dad of three girls, I appreciate it. I'm a little old fashioned, but I don't trust guys around my daughters and I'd prefer they never be alone with one. Hah, it's an interested thing. Eventually they will be alone with them. What you have to do is give them the tools to protect themselves. My mom taught me to always be the one driving, so I could escape. She taught me to always have someone who knew where I was. It helps, it does. Sometimes it's the monsters you know, and sometimes it's a fluke. You can do everything to mitigate but if someone wants to attack they will.
  12. As long as you'd be protective if it happened to a guy, too, you're all good. It's not sexist to want to protect someone from harm.
  13. Agreed. In my first post I said it isn't just gaming, it's everywhere. It's an overall attitude that is had towards women. It happened and it's over. I can't change it. But what I can do is attempt to open some eyes, any chance I get.
  14. No problem for not quoting, I understand formatting can be weird on mobile. Maybe I didn't make a difference. That's okay. I was participating in a conversation and showing my side of the story. That's it. It's interesting to me that my side of things has gotten so much more scrutiny than all the others. I'm sorry you don't understand the complex psychological things one goes through after an assault, but, when you've just been violated in such an extreme way and you're talking to someone who's supposed to protect and help you, and they're hurling things at you saying you were at fault.. .you start to believe it. It takes a lot of therapy to overcome.
  15. I'll dissect this a bit. Sorry I misspelled your name. First, I do not have anything against white men. I'm white. My whole family is white. Nothing against white people. So I'm not following a narrative. In fact, I'm marrying a Hispanic man and my assault was committed by a Hispanic man. SO. With that said. A shocking number of police have a similar outlook that many do in this thread and this world - that if she was dressed indecently, if she was drinking, if she invited him up to her room, she was, on some level, asking for it. So sometimes when you're hurt, confused, and downtrodden, and you go to the people who you think can help you and you get levied with questions and accusations that this was in some way your fault... it is almost impossible to, in your brain, convince yourself it wasn't your fault. I still have trouble with it sometimes. I STILL sometimes think that, even though I was drugged (got the test to prove it), I was in the wrong.... Because I met a guy gaming, and invited him to play super smash brothers on N64 in my dorm room. I can't point you to a collection of police reports like mine, and I am so sorry for that. The fact of the matter is, that the vast majority of assaults are not reported because of fear. Fear of not being believed, fear of persecution, fear of backlash. In fact, the vast majority of victims don't report for fear of doing exactly what I'm doing it - explaining it to someone who does not believe it. I could point you to studies about how prevalent assault is. I could point you to studies about how underreported it is. I could point you to studies that show WHY it is so incredibly underreported. But you could find them yourself with an easy google search. An important thing to note - -you are not a court of law-. One of the things I've said so many times in this thread is it costs you nothing to believe a victim without having to see the same amount of physical evidence as a jury. I got my kit done once I woke up. The pictures, swabs, collections... all done. But I should -not- have to provide that to anyone to give my opinion on my opinion of assault and harassment in the gaming industry. I experienced it and gave examples of my experiences and said it would be a great thing to change. Never said it was an epidemic. Just shared my experiences and participated in a conversation. To a lot more scrutiny than most other posters.
  16. Oh yeah you'll notice how evasive they become when you ask for evidence. If stuff like this is a genuine problem there would be evidence I've asked for it but it was not forthcoming, when I've stated something I've been more than happy to back it up. There isn't actually an issue people just want attention and know the squeaky wheel gets the grease. What kind of evidence would you like me to provide you of my assault, Hobojesus? I'm genuinely curious how and WHY I'm expected to provide evidence of such an intimate, shameful, and painful part of my life to someone on the internet, when I was just providing my point of view in a thread on a forum that requested it. Respectfully. We all get it. Sexual assault is bad. Fairly sure none of us needed you to tell us this. I hope none of us needed you to tell us this. Harassment is also bad. In future I will make a point to be vigilant about calling it out. This, I will admit is a direct result of this thread. I will admit, not being a social person who goes to game stores that much (Because I have a family , with kids, and therefore no time) I have yet to really see it. The closest I have is a really socially inept friend blurting "who is she" at my wife, and really I was more worried for his safety than my wifes. I still however maintain as I always have the possibility for what can be perceived as accidental harassment. I still agree that this can be any race, any gender. I still think that any race, any gender can dress in a way that makes others uncomfortable. I will continue to feel uncomfortable talking about sexual assault in a forum which has nothing to do with sexual assault. This extends to all hate crimes. I'm here for the little tiny ships, but I have a voice, I have also a lifetimes experience. I will show off both. I think you do get that it is bad, Darius. I do not think "we all" do, though, considering some others have posted links to organizations that actively try to "legalize r*pe". I was asking a legitimate question - Hobojesus was asking for proof and evidence. I was asking him what kind he'd like. I don't disagree with much you've said in this thread. I think it is a person's right to feel uncomfortable with a situation another puts them in, and I believe 100% that being nearly naked makes -a vast majority of people uncomfortable-. However, from the first post this thread was about assault. If you're uncomfortable discussing it that is completely fine but that was the premise of the thread. So I mean, not sure what you expected? Your voice is valid, respected, and appreciated.

  18. Hi Baaa, I wasn't planning on jumping back in, but... I felt compelled with this to say this. I have received 4 PMs from lurkers to this thread thanking me, saying I opened their eyes to some things they have done that they didn't realize how it effected people, and that they appreciated the insight. My own fiancé related to me a story last night about how he was a jerk to a girl in a pokemon hat (challenging her geek cred) and he didn't realize until he met me and listened to me talk how extremely crappy that was. So I mean, I don't think I can change the world, but I think if maybe I can open the eyes of one or two people I've made the world a better place, ya know? As for the police thing I'll just say this... I tried. Some of our police have similar attitudes to posters in this thread. So I resign myself to maybe trying to open the eyes of one or two people whenever it seems possible to. That's all.
  19. I wouldnt get upset if someone called time for me because I was too caught up with a player question to notice.
  20. Well. Okay. I did not bring up gamer gate, someone else came into the thread, called it crap in a rant, and I react. Sorry about that, McFoy. To whoever said "the feminazi reported it" that's cool, but I didn't. As the only woman who's come forward in this thread that's such an awful way to talk. My eyes have been opened about how xwing community as a whole views women. Thanks for that, guys. I'm out.
  21. So that's how gamergate started, and then it "evolved" into a discussion of corruption of media in gaming and buying reviews and what not. I get that. But that was a "secondary" goal admitted by the starters of it to ruining Quinn. Some people who joined joined with 100% good intentions - but there is an underlying layer of not good things to all of it.
  22. I... no. I guess agree to disagree? Because this is so not true if you read the IRC chat logs from the people that really pushed gamergate.
  23. For those who don't know a whole lot about gamergate, this is a good summary. It is gawker, though, so it's not like, the highest regard of journalism, as a warning. http://gawker.com/what-is-gamergate-and-why-an-explainer-for-non-geeks-1642909080
  24. "Gamergate" is the term that is the harassment campaign targeting three women in gaming. It started because people claimed a woman slept her way to getting good reviews for her game, and spiraled from there into doxxing and specific, actionable threats about the women it focused on. It was really, really sickening. You can google it to see some highlights.
  25. Gamergate has extremists who use it as a veil to advance their own agenda. You calling it crap is about as agreeable as me calling feminism crap.Oooh, sensitive subject. Gamergate was -literally- a harassment campaign. I'm not sure how anyone can say it's on the same level as feminism.. but.. /shrug
