So Asmodee vision about "selling well" is quite ... steep since the Sadler's said that the game sold well ūüėȬ†Giving a good service to players is not in their targets since they are not producing an expansion for a really good game ūüėě

I just fired up the app for the first time in a few weeks. Interestingly, some aspects of the UI have been changed.
-Gray text boxes now have a gold border and a darker, less opaque background.
-Monster activation boxes have several changes to make them a little less dry. Most noticeably, the minion/master banners are a more rounded shape with jagged edges. There is also a mild red glow at the edge of the action list and special effect box.
-The monster info panel seems to have a softer texture. This could easily be my imagination, since most of the differences I’m noticing in the app are subtle.
-Class names are now included in the ‚ÄúSkill Training‚ÄĚ panel.
-The background texture for the Collection Manager looks different as well. Maybe. I thought it shared the charcoal background of the Load/Save menu.
I rather like the new look. It’s subtle, but creates a much more comfortable experience I think.
It did surprise me- I don’t know if this was part of the most recent bug fix or not, but it is interesting to see that FFG worked on improving the UI.

I've spent a ton of time, money and energy on products by Fantasy Flight Games. I organized weekly x-wing nights for several years, got all my friends into x-wing, bought everything Runewars had to offer, painted, built terrain and invested in this community. I still love these games, but I'm not a fan of FFG anymore. I won't get into the details, but I don't think they treated the fans of this game well. I'm really glad I have this game, but I won't be buying any future FFG products.

Not at all (apart to play it as soon as I get it). I have an interest¬†in letting Asmodee managers understand how they are ... (use the expression you prefer) and I have an interest in getting HoT expansions¬†ūüôā
BTW, (to be clear) my interest is not money oriented (I will pay full cost for the HoT expansions, if they come out) ūüėČ

HoT is such a great game, highly underrated, and built for expansions. I wish they believed in this game more.
Personally I love the dice aspect, but I like it enough that I would most likely go for a LCG version of HoT. But, it seems Asmodee wants to develop other people's IPs rather than developing their own.
You are right, GenCon isn't over yet.

    Based on the following facts:
    a) Heroes of Terrinoth: the bros started talking back in October 2018 on various socials about expansion material, then everybody shut up and the bros started working and publishing other games. Sure, this doesn't mean the line's dead, but doesn't feel much alive either
    b) RuneWars: TMG: it's on sale everywhere (I've seen piles of core sets and expansions for sale at fairs in my country for 3 to 5 EUR each) and there's no news in quite a long time
    c) Descent: as you said, Descent got "a new small expansion recently" while a few years ago we were getting a big box and a small box per year, and then figures pack and all the rest. The small expansion is also in-house printed, which means it's on a whole different production chain, implying the game's not healthy either. Also, they just released Journeys into Middle-Earth, which has "Journeys into" the title, exactly how Descent was "Journeys into the dark": campaign play, full coop, all things players wanted for Decent since a very long time. And it's in a setting that's a lot more popular than Terrinoth, so, this game spells like a tombstone for Descent to me
    e) RuneBound is dead and buried: the last expansion was released in 2017. It's more than 2 years ago, and that expansion was controversial to say the least, and not a top seller
    f) other games set in Terrinoth exist no more: BattleLore 2nd is a dead battlefield, RuneAge and RuneWars long gone
On the other hand, we see the company constantly pushing on other games (Star Wars, AGoT, LotR, and now Marvel) and themes (LCGs, unique games, miniature games) which are a lot more lucrative for them (just look at the price for the plastic of the Legion bunker: 80 bucks? madness). All these products have constant attention, and a constant product stream inflowing in the market.
Terrinoth is dead and buried, amen to that.
Will they resurrect it? Possibly, but who knows. Do I miss it? ****, yes.

Nothing have been mentioned for the Terrinoth in latest Gen Con's In Flight Report. Except for the confirmation of the closure for RuneWars Miniature Game.
So... its officialy dead, huh? I've wanted to tell not to support Asmodee's FFG, but... its kinda useless. With Disney licenses they will always have profit, until the day it will be taken away from them, due to declining sales.
But I don't want to be bitter. Welp, too bitter. Instead I want to say thank you to the people who worked on Terrinoth and made such marvelous games. I'm sure not much of you is still in this company and there is not much chances that you'll read this. But still I will say Thank You. From the bottom of my heart.

P.S.: I still hope that Corey, who recently left FFG for his new company under Asmodee will do something with Terrinoth, due to experimental nature of his new company. One can dream.

After all these years I'm still looking forward for the last heroes (old and new ones) + the road to legend campaign for the remaining expansions (there are 4 of them left, if I'm not mistaking).
Even after Gloomhaven, Conan, Imperial Assault and Massive Darkness - Descent is still my favourite dungeon crawler (and by that I mean both editions). Its not perfect, sure, and I hope we will see the 3rd edition. Not in Keyforge or L5R setting or even 2ed of SW IA. I fall in love with Terrinoth setting and I wish to see more of it in the future.
Frankly, I would even loved to see the Runebound 4th edition

I learned early on that Descent has an interesting meta game which is purely psychological.  As Overlord, I don't play to win - I play for the heroes to win, or for the heroes to lose.  This means my actions always are reflective of the psychological state of the hero players, laying on the pain when they can tolerate it, and backing off when they need a breather.  Frankly, this approach means I lose as an Overlord slightly more often than I win, and I think that is best.
To the point of this thread, hero players often enjoy having relatively crappy cards, abilities, and monsters thrown at them, and hilarity ensues when less than ideal pairing are made.  Like, for instance, when Dash is played on a master zombie, allowing it to grab a stealthy Tomble Burrowell.  Overlords that play for the thrill of the game understand this, and that these cards have purpose.
Now, time to deploy Plague Release...

    If a game's not a mega-hit, FFG won't support it. Period.

Remember, Battlelore got around 500 online signatures on a petition to make the elf expansions, and nothing.

In general, FFG won't make expansions for gamese anymore. It's either 0 expansions or 100. You don't see games getting "some support here" like the old Civ board game, or Rune Age, or Runebound anymore.

I've given up on hoping for announcements from FFG at GenCon (and on trying to predict their release schedule).
They will release what they want to release and I have to resign myself to the fact that it will very rarely fit in with anything I'm even remotely interested in.
I was pleasantly surprised by the announcement of the Descent: Lost Legends expansion a few months ago (only to be subsequently deflated on finding out that it was a pet project handed to an intern... not because this suggests it will be bad, I don't think that at all, but more because it suggests, to me at least, that Descent is very, very low on their priority list). I've also picked up a copy of Journeys in Middle Earth because I love Tolkein and because it looks a solid game with a lot of potential... The rest of the endless Star Wars, Cthulu, Five Rings releases? No, sorry, not interested in buying into any of those. (I do play Imperial Assault and hope to try out Outer Rim soon, but I'm definitely not going to spend any money on them.)
So, suffice it to say: I'm not getting my hopes up for a Heroes of Terrinoth expansion or for anything else I'd be keen to play, because history tells me that I'm only going to be disappointed...

I'm a half-fanboy FFG wise (some things they get very right, other things less so....)
Terrinoth wise 'slightly obsessed' might be more accurate
LOTR wise love it but not hooked on it, which re the above is probably a good thing, but I do originate from The Shire- I'm from Tolkien's neck of the woods, right on Bilbo's doorstep until I moved house a few years ago. Thus I have quite possibly traversed the path of the ents!

This won't deter me from playing the game but i can understand how you feel.
Gloomhaven has no dice and it ain't a flop, it uses cards for character actions and combat results. FFG seem to have developed a similar, strong mechanic with deck building which is a step outside their comfort zone. Really eager for that. Plus you can select different class (or path) cards for the same hero as the campaign unfolds - you can even gain experience to have stronger effects with cards of a specific class. You want to level up another class? you can.
About the heroes, Elena is new and kinda cool (never heard of her), and Beravor is a nice addition that was first introduced in the MEQ boardgame from FFG. She was also present in the LotR:LCG but kinda lived in other, more popular heroes' shadow. Kinda glad she's part of the original pool of heroes. I agree with you that the Legolas-Aragorn-Gimli trio might seem like straight out from the microwave oven, meself would have opted for new B-Team characters instead, but at least half the characters stand out from the usual powerhouses and inevitable no brainers. In future expansions, if FFG can introduce at least one new character like they did for MEQ, that would be nice.
Never had any issues with rules overload from FFG (except some of their older games like Arkham Horror 2nd ed). Everything is¬†easy to understand, well laid out, clear explanations and streamlined. Try playing Sword & Sorcery. Even after several sessions, i'm still spending as much time looking into the rule book for clunky, hard to grasp rules than playing the game. Doesn't happen with our favorite gaming company here. For example, the rule books from Arkham Horror:LCG are among the best¬†ūüėɬ†
The mini battlefield is intriguing and i can't say much about it, but it is exciting that you can explore "indoors" as well as "outdoors". Some dungeon crawling mechanic in the works for that game? let them clever guys at FFG surprise us with more content.
I would say don't miss out because i feel there will be a lot of good adventuring in there.
Hope you enjoy the game as much as i know i will
PS: I'm a FFG, Terrinoth AND LotR fanboy.

I think it looks promising and it's too early to judge- losing the dice could be a clever way of un-randomizing the game a bit (more skill, less luck), the LOTR characters are established as a fantasy classic, yes with that slight 'external IP again' gripe, but they're classic characters and I think have appeal even if you're not a full-on deep LOTR fan and sometimes you need the slightly more complex rules and mechanics to make a varied and interesting game.

On the boards and multiple elements, this is where it is trying something new and yes that may or may not work, if it offers a variety of game experiences from one product this might be an interesting unique aspect to the game, but success or fail will of course depend on how these overlaps of other games have been implemented if this is the case.

I'm quite enthusiastic for this game even though I'm a Terrinoth fanboy

The artwork and sculpts are looking good, haven't looked closely enough yet to judge how good, hoping the gameplay lives up to its good looks.

Yes. You dont need to be a troll to see the mistakes on the first sight.   No dice, no characters other then those for the  LoTR  Fanboys, again too overloaded with rules and mechanics,  artiificial unnatural boards, especially the mini battlefield,  and so on. Iz contains clearly elements from half a dozen ffggames. Descent, Runebound, Runewars, Fallout, etc. It wants to be everything and is nothing, but a hundred Dollars. Good to see that is is not Terrinoth to flop. The reason is the academic overscrewed thinking of game designers. They can get a doctor title at university for this, but wont make any fun for the players.
