  1. First Escalation event coming up, and I'm sorted for my first ship, and the last three. Where I'm undecided is what to field in the initial 60pt game for my 24pts left over from Ryad.

The list I've run was (starter game 60pts):

Countess Ryad, TIEx7, PTL, Twin Ion Engine (36)

Omega Ace, PTL, Twin Ion Engine (24)

Game 2, 3 and 4 I add one of these each time:

Nu Squadron Pilot, XG-1, HLC, Linked Battery, Advanced Slam (30)

Trial list did OK and the Star Wings are brutal, but I'm reconsidered either of these for the 24pt slot instead of Omega Ace who was underwhelming:

Pure Sabacc, title, Lightweight Frame, Trick Shot

Thoughts? What would you run for 24pts to back up Ryad from game 1 onwards?

  2. Small tournament tomorrow, and like flying Defenders so giving either of these a go.  Ryad list also has a question mark hanging over Twin Ion Engine or Stealth Device.

Countess Ryad, TIEx7, PTL, Stealth Device(or Twin Ion Engine)

Delta Sqn Pilot, TIEx7, Stealth Device

Delta Sqn Pilot, TIEx7, Stealth Device.  `

100pts, or 98 if I drop Stealth on Ryad for Twin Ion engine.  Solid and reliable, and fun to fly 3 Defenders. Just not sure on whether the 4th green dice is worth it in the long run over TI Engine for the green banks with PTL?

Or..  harder to fly but less predictable:

Whisper, VI, ACD, Collision Detector, Intel Agent

Delta Sqn Pilot, TIEx7, Stealth Device

Delta Sqn Pilot, TIEx7, Stealth Device.

100pts.  Intel Agent synergising nicely with decloak to pick a direction.  Only problem is I'm an idiot at forgetting to either use Intel Agent to look at an opponents dial before decloaking, or even forgetting to decloak half the time (yes, I'm that bad :)  ).  Which is why I'm leaning towards the triple-D's being more idiot proof.

So, Ryad or Whisper?  And if Ryad, Stealth or TI Eng?

    (edit for typos)

  3. I've recently switched from playing purely Rebels to having fun with Imperials and really enjoy the Defenders with the new upgrades.

I just have the two so no 3-Defender lists for me, and don't have Palpy for my shuttle.

I've run two Defenders with Inky and liked it, but not sure which of these two alternatives would work best:

    Inquisitor - PTL, Autothrusters, TIE/v1

Countess - Juke, Stealth Device, TIE/x7

Delta Sqn - Stealth Device, TIE/x7

99pts.  Really like using Stealth Device, and the PS1 Delta gives me better blocking options.

    or

    Inquisitor - PTL, Autothrusters, TIE/v1

Countess - Adaptability, Twin Ion Engine MkII, TIE/x7

Glaive Sqn - Juke, Twin Ion Engine MkII, TIE/x7

99pts.  Higher PS for the Defenders, and having Ryad and Glaive on equal PS helps me avoid those embarrassing self-blocking mistakes. But I lose the 4 green from SD.  And I do like the durability.

Or alternately, although I haven't tried it to know how it would fly I do kind of like the look of this - an ace, with two solid backups who can deal damage, are durable, and can block:

    Cloak and Daggers

Whisper - VI, Advanced Cloaking Device

Delta Sqn - Stealth Device, TIE/x7

Delta Sqn - Stealth Device, TIE/x7

    99pts.

  4. Cheers. Taking Jan really just appeals for the option to get 2 evade tokens for durability.
Think the Kanan build will be more fun to fly.

Hmm.. just thinking for a very durable Chewy taking PTL, title plus Jan and C3PO.
3 evades per turn would make him very hard to kill.

Edit.  Obiwonka I agree on Dash, he's a great crew for Leebo just couldn't find 1pt to fit him in so have changed out Kyle for Jan.

    So running with:

    Chewy, title, PTL, Kanan, Jan.

    Leebo, title, HLC, Determination, Dash.

Sooo many variations you can run, one of the things I really enjoy about this game :)

  5. Having fun with these two but hard settle on a build.

    So far Im favouring this.

Chewy, PTL, Kanan, Kyle, Falcon title. 52

Leebo, Determination, Outrider, HLC, Intel Agent. 48

Would like 1pt more to put Dash crew on Leebo but dont like dropping Kanan for Jan as without EU Chewy is limited to his green moves to clear stress.

    Thoughts?

  6. What pilots do you all suggest? Seeing as I'm running it with the Falcon it would be kind of costly with one too many things.

Depends on how fat your Falcon build is i.e. how many points you have left over.

Certainly the Outrider/HLC/PTL/EU/Kanan build on Dash is the most optimised build for him albeit expensive, but he's still viable and fun with different builds.

Consider taking Leebo with Outrider/HLC instead, and for an alternative to Merc Co-pilot for getting a crit out of the HLC try taking Recon Spec and Calculation.

I'm taking a Chewy Falcon and Dash Outrider to a tournament in 2 weeks that probably isn't the most optimal build, but it will be flying Dash a lot differently to kiting at distance and should be a lot of fun.

  7. I haven't flown Chewy much but I like his durability and keen to try him out more.  Looking for sagely advice on any major flaws in this 99pt list:

Chewy, Falcon title, Predator, Recon Specialist, Jan Ors. 51pts

    Gold Sqn, TLT, 24pts

    Gold Sqn, TLT, 24pts

TLT Y Wings do their thing for steady damage while being pretty durable. Chewy build is aiming at split for between offense/defense.

  8. Just wondering is Comm Relay really that useful after the first turn when you know you'll Evade as your action? I've never used it hence asking, always seemed to me to be something to combine with Juke.

Been musing on those two Aces myself but droids swapped as per Raven's comment, without CR, and backed up by TLT Y wing.

  9. Thanks for that, good points there. I would have gone with R5-P9 but don't have the card yet hence defaulting to R2D2, but the transport may just be my next ship purchase.

Lone Wolf bonuses would be handy but means I have to run Poe well clear of both the Y's and the Bandit so might not be getting the benefits in a few turns.

I could drop VI for Adaptability instead and with the other changes I'd have the points to switch the Golds to Greys?

  10. The meta in my part of the world seems to be larger ship combos with aces lists and swarms in the minority, so I'm tempted to trot out some TLT's with support.

    How would this work?

    PS8 Poe, Veteran Instincts, R2D2, Autothrusters, 38

    Gold Sqn Y-Wing, TLT, 24

    Gold Sqn Y-Wing, TLT, 24

    Tala Sqn Z-95, 13

    99pts

  11. Good advice there already.  I'm no expert but I just ran this list in a tourney, with Han instead of Intel Agent.  Almost took APL instead of Han.

Didn't face Palpy Aces but plenty of toilet seat lists there.  If there's a way of avoiding taking a load of hits from turrets flying a bus like the VCX I don't know it, so my approach was to go aggressive pick one target and try to keep range 1 arc on it for 5 dice primaries. Never used the ABT once in all 5 games, but I think it does give some opponents pause about getting their aces close.

Hera is great. Opponents forget her ability and you can surprise them with moves when stressed. But it does come with a problem. Once those shields are gone if you go aggressive and rack up the stress, as soon as you start collecting crits you get nerfed bad.  And if you get hit with the all-damage-dealt-face-up one, and you have 3 or more stress tokens to clear, the ship dies fast.

I honestly don't know if I'd take Han again. Sure he's good as an alternative to using the TL, but if you're going to get it back again anyway with FCS it's no big deal and I only used Han's ability twice that I recall, almost always it was better to reroll the lot.  Not sure who I'd replace him with though which is why I considered APL or Chopper pilot as it definitely is a great ship for blocking.

Dash is great with Kanan, EU and the HLC. Don't change a thing there.

  12. I recently had my first tournament and ran this, did OK.

Dash Rendar, Outrider title, PTL, HLC, EU, Kanan Jarrus, 58pts

Lothal Rebel, FCS, ABT, Hera, Nien. 41pts

Just wondering on whether to drop EU on Dash and just rely on Kanan giving him he full dial plus barrel roll, and using the points to upgrade the Lothal to Chopper for stressing when I block and maybe dropping Nien for a different crew member?

Or drop Dash and try Chewy instead?  I lose the damage output of HLC from afar and kiting all over the obstacles, but then no doughnut hole to protect and 3 extra hit points plus taking no crits:

Chewbacca, Falcon title, PTL, EU, Kanan Jarrus, Kyle Katarn. 56pts

Chopper, FCS, ABT, Hera Syndulla, Nien Nunb. 43pts

Tournament #2 tomorrow, decisions decisions!  And advice appreciated.

    (edited for typos)

  13. I haven't tried the Baby blue squadron but have run two of them with R2 and IA as backup to a Chewy build.  They lasted a while, did some decent damage, and kept the attention away from Chewy.

They would have done better with Autothrusters for sure, but I couldn't spare the points.

  14.

I'm just throwing my hat in to also advocate for FCS, ABT and Hera. That's a strong, cheap start. Last 2 points is on you.

Cheers Khyros and others.  This is pretty much what I went with, 58pt Dash and Lothal Rebel with FCS, ABT, Hera and Han.

It actually went pretty well despite my mediocre skills at running it, although I never once used Han's ability as each time it was better to just reroll the TL.  I also did a bit of blocking with it, so would have been better with APL, Ion projector or taking Chopper intead of Lothal.

I think the fastest that Dash died was when I faced triple K-Wings with bombs galore and had no idea what was coming having never played with or against them. The VCX took out two of them while solo before it finally went down.  In all the games I played the VCX did exactly what I wanted it to, which was take a lot of fire off of Dash so he could do his thing, and pump out as many target locked 5-dice primary shots as I could get it in arc for before it went down.   Hera was definitely great for 1pt, pulling repeat K turns surprises people. However if you keep pulling reds and ignore the stress tokens racking up, you definitely regret that once you get hit with the crit that makes all damage cards face up.  That hurt me bad in two games.

Just throwing this out there but...you sure you want Dash?

    Han Solo (46)
    Push the Limit (3)
    Kanan Jarrus (3)
    Kyle Katarn (3)
    Engine Upgrade (4)
    Millennium Falcon (1)

    Lothal Rebel (35)
    Fire-Control System (2)
    Autoblaster Turret (2)
    "Chopper" (0)
    Hera Syndulla (1)

    Total: 100

'Cause Dash has a few strengths over this Han, but for two points more, I think the Han is way better. PS9 as opposed to PS7 is a benefit that's hard to overstate when you consider Omega Leader, Inquisitor, Whisper and RAC. Not to mention no doughnut hole.

You have to mind the obstacles again, but boy do you get a ton of actions with the ability to move at a crazy high PS. It's a mean ship.

Yeah I preferred Dash purely as I've run him a lot in my limited time playing so far, so know how to use him.  Having run him a lot I guess you can literally say I've done my dash with him :) so will be looking at running Han or Chewy instead of I want a large ship.

  15. First tournament coming up tomorrow, just can't decide on a final list.

Running 58pt Dash with Outrider, HLC, PTL, Kanan, EU

Have faffed around with running other backup for Dash but I'm settled on running the VCX, just can't decide on how to kit it out and whether or not to drop EU off of Dash to make the VCX better.

    Options I'm considering are:

Lothal Rebel, ABT, FCS, Hera, Tactician (would run Han instead of Tactician but don't have him)

Lothal Rebel, ABT, Hera, Chewie. (50/50 build, can keep pulling red moves with Hera to keep in arc, Chewie for durability)

I have run the VCX before with 54pt Dash (dropped engine upgrade) as Lothal Rebel, FCS, ABT, Lando, Chewie.  Great for durability unless stressed if Lando pushes out evades and with extra 3 hit points from Chewie, but if Dash gets hunted the loss of EU makes it harder for him to get out of Dodge.

I'm probably waaay overthinking this, so any pointers appreciated.

  16. I've run it with Kanan instead of Kyle in the Outrider, and went for a pure tank in the Lothal with Lando and Chewy.

Not sure the VCX build is optimum, I just wanted it to soak up the fire while Dash did his thing and it worked well.  If you roll well with Lando and push out double evades, plus Chewy adding effectively 3 more hit points it sure takes a while to kill.

I'm liking your Lothal build and will give it a run, but I'm absolutely sold on running Kanan Jarrus over Kyle as the best crew for Dash.

  17. Been running Dash a lot with various company, and switching between HLC for reliability of getting hits through and Mangler cannon for no donut-hole issues.

Thinking of running him like this for best of both worlds:

Dash Rendar, Outrider, Mangler cannon, Expose, Kanan Jarrus, Experimental Interface.

So.. I still get double actions from EI one of which will be Expose to roll 4 dice with the Manger for extra damage and no donut hole, and Kanan there to shed the stress as usual as when taking PTL.

Anyone had experience with Expose on Dash?  I know it's largely not favoured compared to other EPT's, but I'm thinking that the loss of an evade will be largely mitigated by Dash's good movement and barrel roll.

Back-up for the list likely to be a couple of A-Wings with autothrusters.

  18. Exactly the thread I was looking for!  I'm very new to the game, playing for less than a month and also running a Dash/Kannan combo with VCX-100.

I was running Dash at 58 with Outrider and HLC, Kanan, EU and PTL, but also found that I didn't really need the boost action and probably should have been using TL a lot more.  So I changed my list to:

    'Tank and Flank'  (99)

Dash, Outrider, HLC, Kanan, PTL, (54)

Lothal Rebel, Dorsal turret, Lando, Chewy (45)

Dash does his thing staying outside of range 1, move/barrel plus a TL or focus each turn.

The VCX is there to tank with Lando and Chewy giving it more durability.

Keen to get some feedback on the viability.  Is there a better way to kit the VCX for increased mobility to keep stuff in the awesome 4/5 dice primary arc that won't make it too squishy with 0 evade?

EDIT. Re the Mangler, I tried squeezing some points by dropping the HLC for a Mangler Cannon on Dash for several games and also to mitigate against the doughnut hole, but especially against things at range 3 with Autothrusters I was never getting a damage through.  Again I'm new to this, but in my very limited experience the 4 dice seems just that much consistently better.

  19. I'd agree with dropping EU from Dash as he has superb mobility already with Kanan. I've tried that exact Dash/Kanan build alongside a Lothal Rebel VCX-100, and found that with everything but a k turn shedding stress I was using TL or focus over boost most of the time.
