I've only ever done a solo game with LotA, but I really enjoy Murne and Davith, for story purposes more than gameplay really. I like to imagine them as an unlikely duo, paired together out of need more than preference, but bonding together over the course of their missions and becoming a tight-working machine. I dunno, I just think they make a nice dynamic duo.

I love coming up with these sort of stories! Especially with those two.
I imagined Davith being a Jedi Youngling who escaped the Purge ONLY because he was rescued by Senator Murne Rin. Murne took Davith to her homeworld where she hid him and raised him. They both got involved in the Rebel Alliance, with Davith being assigned to mostly stealth missions.
I find the campaigns more fun when I come up with connections between the characters.

My favorite by far is Loku.
He is a bit of a glass canon, but he’s really fun to play. Placing his tokens on enemies for +1 damage really adds up and his ability that allows characters to ignore characters for line of sight when targeting a character with the token is awesome. I like to keep him at a distance and just pick characters off like a sniper should.
I’m also a big fan of Murne, Davith, and Gaarkhan.

    Favourite characters? Woo boy.
Diala is one. Playing a support jedi was super cool! As well as being able to force push VADER like the world's most evil yo-yo and then flinging your lightsabre across the room. (Still want to play her again and get the Bo rifle. The idea of Diala snapping off a shot at a target then flinging the weapon at them is hilarious.)
Tress has been super fun as well. Her mechanics give her super action efficiency, to the point I attempted a pacifist run. (No killing, but throwing people was ok, gravity hurt the stormtroopers.) Her super mobility was amazing.
Verena was also super fun! Being able to do the Close Quarters into step, into Close Quarters again and again was super entertaining, not to mention the head cannon for how she managed to use a Nexu to smack someone (grabbed the tail and swung it around clearly.)
Honestly, the only melee I found to not be crazy fun was shyla. And that's because she just blended everything. Not really much style, just a whole lot of KO'd stormtroopers.

This thread is why I love IA.  Having non-canon heroes that we can relate to, and build our own stories around is what people mean when they talk about Star Wars as a sandbox.  I like that canon characters show up from time to time, but they aren't necessary, and I'd rather be part of the war effort that isn't in any way part of the Skywalker saga.

No idea why, but I've always had a soft spot for Murne ever since her release.  Ithorians are cool, I guess?
Game-wise, I just love how unexpectedly tanky she can be if you build her around the Lead form the Front card.

Murne is kind of ridiculous.  You take a look and say "He's an interesting support character," and your friend says "She, Murne's female." But that's not relevant so you ignore your friend an keep referring to her as "he" for the rest of the campa--wait what was I saying?  Oh right, Lead from the Front changes her from an odd but good support character into a killing machine.
I watched her and Gaarkhan combine to wipe out two squads of stormtroopers during Gaarkhan's activation, mid campaign.  I was too impressed to be upset that they took 12 threat off the board before I even got my first turn of the mission.
Personally, I've always had a soft spot for Saska.  I wouldn't call her a favorite because, as it stands, she's only ever made it to the table during a solo LotA campaign.  I usually tell players that she's an "advanced" character, because you really need to have a plan with her when you start the campaign and the other rebel players usually need to be on board with it so that you can get the equipment you need.

So, I just got into IA, unfortunately it appears at end of life so I'll be probably spending more money than I want to make sure I get the things I want. I've decided to try my hand at painting to add a little more excitement to the game and seeing so many other works of art has been a real inspiration. I've looked at countless images on the forums, instagram, etc to come up with ideas and realize what I do and don't like. Although I appreciate most forms of art, I have never been an "artistic" person myself. Give me a set of directions to build things whether it be Legos or Ikea furniture and I'm happy, lol! So this is going to be quite the adventure. I don't expect to produce amazing pieces right away or even quickly but hopefully with practice and studying other pieces my work will improve.
Like so many others it seems like my first introduction to painting was through @Sorastro's amazing videos. While I may be cutting down a few steps to start with, these videos have given me a great appreciation for the artistry as well as instruction on certain techniques. There are so many other great pieces on here but @Fourtytwo and @Utforskarn have really amazed me so hopefully I can model some of my work after theirs while keeping it unique. My current goal isn't to try an make artistic pieces, must semi-realistic pieces to enhance gameplay.
My first pieces were the Imperial officers. I went with an ISB officer as my elite. This was my very first piece and I'm not really happy, but will probably keep most of these as is for the time being just to track improvement. I hate faces, lol. That is the one thing that will eventually get fixed.

Next up was Jyn Odan as I was using her in the tutorial LotA tutorial campaign. I really started feeling a little more comfortable on this one and used it as a way to play around with some various techniques for shadows/highlights.

The last one that I have completed was General Sorin. This one I was really excited to try and am actually quite happy with the result for my 5th attempt at a miniature.

My next one will be Gaarkhan, who is already in progress and then either some Rebel Troopers or Stormtroopers. Between the Core, Stormtroopers add-on, Blaise and the Jet-Troopers who will be arriving today I will have plenty of those guys to deal with. It is definitely more exciting to jump in and paint the characters I like the most, but at the same time I kind of want to push some of them off until I have improved my technique.
Thanks for looking. I'll post more as I go. Even though they aren't as masterful as most of the others on here, maybe they can still provide some inspiration.

Something I was thinking about, in terms of your Occam's Razer comment is that I 100% agree there. In fact I agree so much that I believe lists made from purely FFG original product lists should always be legal so that if a new player comes in they can start to participate without having to deal with a massive wall of text, printing cards, and learning new rules changes (at least within their own list!).
From what I saw in the diary it looks to me like you've implemented some pretty big nerfs and bans - would this still be possible?. The baseline has been reverted to the trooper meta (which I actually really disliked... jabba's realm more or less fixed the game for me) so I suppose anything from the later half of the game's lifetime would be overpowered. Would you say that RIAST and vanilla IA is still compatible at all? From an initial readthrough it sounds more or less like you are moving towards being a different game by changing some core rules and fundamental mechanics, which I would argue takes you much farther away from FFG IA than I would expect given the minimalist philosophy.

Amen to that.  Would have helped them sell more of everything.  OR, if they aren't interchangeable make the scale completely different (like X Wing and Armada).  In fact, make it X Wing scale and you could have had actual X-Wings and Y-Wings and what not strafing AT-ATs on the ground or something.
The weird thing is I got into IA for the campaign, so none of this should have mattered that much, but then I tried Skirmish and had so much fun with it...

Yeah if you are buying this game to get into the competitive, organized play skirmish than now is a terrible time to get into it.  If you are buying it for literally any other reason (standard campaigns, app campaigns, skirmish with friends, painting cool minis, etc.) then now is a great time to get the game, when it's more likely to be on clearance racks but not yet sold out.
Personally I'm a bit salty about how FFG has handled things since I love the Organized Play that they do, but for all of the other game mode there is tonnes of great content out there.  Just because they're not printing more doesn't mean what you have is broken or something - it's still fun to play.

(Android:Netrunner got the ax because FFG lost the license to the Netrunner game mechanisms. Whether it was because the license would've cost too much is irrelevant. There were packs in development when it happened! Certainly does not sound to have been axed because of low sales.)

I want to be totally clear that I really appreciate how open he was in this. This is really the level of communication that probably could've left fans feeling a lot less frustrated over the past year, so I honestly can't fault him for this at all.

That being said, a lot of what's in there, for IA, Descent, and just the general direction of the company, seems troublesome to me.  I dunno, it seems like they really are shifting to a more tabletop mini/LCG model now.  Not a lot there that interests me.

TL;DR.  I changed to Leia at the last minute and piloted her to the finals of the Grand Championship at Nova.
Hello There.  This is my battle report from NOVA.  In the lead up to NOVA I was struggling to win practice games with various merc lists, so made the last minute decision to swap back to a variation of the Lover's Box that I piloted to second place at a regional last year.
My list: Han w/ rogue smuggler, Leia, MHD, Hera, Gideon, r2, 3po, 2xrSmuggler, Extra Armor
CCs: On the Lam, Tools for the Job, Miracle Worker, Heart of Freedom, Second Chance, Intel Leak, Negation, Brace for Impact, Stealth Tactics, Element of Surprise, Take Initiative, Planning, Positioning Advantage, Hour of Need

Round 1 vs David w/ Vader Riots.  Maul Gangsters
Round 1 was versus my good friend David.   He drew a tough map for him.  I boxed on the side with the "T" and killed gangsters and let him come to me.  Leia recycled whatever Thrawn pitched.  Time was called in round three right as Vader got to my box.  I had the full defensive suite at that point and didn't suffer any real loses.  1-0

Round 2 vs Mark w/ double eQuays.  Tarkin Rogue AI
This started out as a positioning battle.  Han got some end of round shots into eQuays but they defended well, using Run for Cover and On the Lam to not suffer any loses.  He got a very lucky AI bounce and picked up 6 points during one eQuay activation, with the AI token near Hondo to be picked up again.  He pushed my terminal hard and had both by the end of round 2, starving me of cards.  I lost a few smugglers early on, so this put me on a clock to pick up some points.  I played Leia aggressively to make something happen and got her killed and ended up taking the loss.  Leia never got a chance to cycle any useful cards.  1-1

Round 3 vs Ray w/ VP scum.   Tarkin weapons
The story of this one was how much damage Han tanked.  I never saw Lam and Han never dodged, but Ray had to put 28 damage on Han to kill him with all my healing and defensive tricks.  Han died, but he had no gas left in the tank to overcome Leia and weapon carrying smugglers.  Leia cycled Miracle Worker but I never redrew it.  2-1

Round 4 vs Sean w/ Han, Ahsoka, Sabine.  Maul posters
This was a quick game.  With my activation advantage, Han got a good end of round/start of round hit on Ahsoka, putting him down a major attacking piece that he wasn't ever really able to recover from.  Leia never needed to cycle anything.  3-1.   Which was good enough to make 4th overall after Swiss.

    DAY 2
Top 8 vs Gil w/ IG, eCats, Sabine.  Lothal blitz
I box near my terminal.  Gil splits his list, sending Sabine and R2 towards the spire and the rest of the list to the other side of the map.  Round 1 Han pushes Sabine hard.  Gil brings IG down to blaze and go after Han, but I have Lam plus a dodge.  I end up taking three damage total from both IG activations.  Leia gets a lucky cross map kill on a cat sitting on an objective, and cycles Lam, which I redraw at the end of Round 1.  Han gets IG up to 12 damage but second chance comes down so I go after Sabine in Round 2 killing her.  A cat ambushes Gideon and kills him, and Leia matches up vs Hera on the top side of the map, with Han and the box holding down the spire.  I lose MHD in round 3, but don't lose anyone else after playing Lam a second time.  I scatter my list in Round 3 to grab objectives, and pick up the win.

Top 4 vs Jason w/ 2xeLothcats WITH LAST RESORT.  Lothal Fluctuations
That's right.  Exploding kittens.  And another game vs a good friend.  Jason takes the spire with Sabine and the cats.  I leave r2 alone on my terminal and box on the other side.  Rounds 1 and 2 saw various cat bombs that dealt some damage but nothing I wasn't able to overcome.  Leia cycles Lam again, and Han bombs in to kill a focused, power token cat at the end of the round.  Round 3 saw Onar do a dangerous attack on Leia after rushing and using To The Limit, but he low rolled the attack damage and Leia was in no danger.  The smugglers and Gideon took advantage of Onar's lack of defense dice and piled on the damage, allowing Han to kill him EOR.  Sabine did come around the back side and kill R2 and MHD over a couple of rounds, but died to a Leia+Hera double tap using battlefield leadership.  We called it with me comfortably in the lead and only Greedo left as an attacker for Jason.

Finals vs Ryan Janway w/ Han, Drok, Sabine.  Maul gangsters.
I lost to Ryan in the Atlanta Regional, so here's my chance to take revenge.  He's part of my local playgroup and is a great player and stand up guy.  Now onto the game.  This is not the best map or matchup for me.  We both played very defensively.  I ended up playing Lam twice and Negation twice, and had Lam in my hand again at the end of the game.  I went up early due to some lucky gangster spawns and focusing on his support, but Leia blanked her defensive roll and died to a Han shot.  Ryan's Drokatta had a huge turn and killed three figures, putting him back in the game.  It came down to me needing Han to kill Drokatta end of round after time was called.  Drok had 7 damage with a block token.  I had positioning advantage.  Han was one short.  Ryan wins 29-25!

Congrats to Ryan for an amazing game and run!  Our finals match will be uploaded to the IA Command Youtube channel, and my full battle report will be on the Zion's Finest Podcast.  Check both of those out!  NOVA was a great time and the skirmish meta is in a really good place right now.  I'm proud of our NC playgroup--five of us took the trip to Nova and finished Swiss 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 9th.  And Ryan is part of our group, so we brought home the trophy to NC!  If you're within driving distance, be sure to come to the NC Regionals/Prime tournament this fall/winter (assuming we get one)!  It should be a great time, and there will likely be a Leia sighting

I think you're probably right, but if that is indeed the case, would it have killed them to do one more wave with Yoda, Zuckuss and 4-LOM, and Scout Bikes (or just Scout Troopers)? That would have basically completed the game, particularly if an Endor campaign box accompanied it, though that's less necessary... those are the three things that nearly everyone identifies as being missing from the game.
(Yeah, OK, you can think of more if you try - Rogue One characters, Rex, probably about a trillion obscure no-recognition characters from various off-spins or comics or whatever; but Yoga and co are just missing, the game is incomplete without them).
I totally get it if they've decided to throw resources on Legion, but could they really not be bothered to do just one more wave? Would three more IA Ally/Villain Packs really have doomed the whole Legion game to failure? Would that really have killed them? Did they care about this so little? It's always a shame when the fans care more for something than the creators do.
So I'd prefer to choose to believe that some evil nasty lawyers at Disney or Hasbro decided to pull a d*ck move because they've got to justify their pay cheque somehow. It's a more comforting narrative (lawyers are evil, news at eleven) than that game designers just stopped caring about something that we care about so much.

First, try to get a clear image of who Yoda is and what his role is in the OT-era. Sharpen that image through one or two UNIQUE abilities - copying unique abilities of other unique characters is both lame and aggravating - and avoid trying to make him good in all aspects. You boosted his defense, his speed, and even gave him the ability to dish out damage ON TOP of his ability to move around opposing figures. That's not very appealing.
If I were to create a deployment card for Yoda in the OT-era, I'd put down the most important aspects of Yoda before coming up with concrete abilities...
Yoda is old, physically withered (Force or no) - he has been humbled big time and his failures have clearly taken a toll on him. In the OT-era (OT-movies and REBELS), Yoda never is seen running, jumping, fighting, or even suggesting to fight. Make him slow. Yoda still has a sharp wit. He is more of a guide than a teacher and is focusing on ecouraging others to find their destiny (Ezra, Ahsoka and Luke) than teach them what and how to do things like he did in the Jedi Order. Make Yoda a clear-cut non-combatant - he does not fight any more. He can still surprise others by extraordinary feats throught the Force, but not in an aggressive way. Pushing others through the Force fits him, damaging others does not. Yoda is beyond fighting - that point has been hammered home - fittingly and rightfully - in REBELS.

Well, I'm a campaign-player that does not go into skirmish.  So, story-wise, he's a bit over-the-top  on the power scale.  I would have, and probably did, say the same thing about Palpatine.  We still got 'im, and I still bought 'im.  So it's not like this would be a deal-breaker for me.
If I played skirmish, I think he'd be much higher on my list.  Skirmish is, so far as I would be concerned, "anything goes."

This is an idea I love. I think it can be standardized by taking some cues from Legends of the Alliance app.
For those not familiar, between some (most?) missions, the player may visit a planet, or have a conversation with the crew on their ship. During those encounters, the player gets text box choices that may lead to other choices, or the player does an attribute test and depending on the results they can get items, allies, reward cards and more.
On the one hand, I like the ability to "customize" these encounters based on how the rebel heroes are faring. On the other hand, there needs to be some concrete rules, cues and options for those of us who are less able to narrate these interactions on the fly.
Which skirmish map(s) do you use? If you use multiple ones, how do you decide which one? I'd like to be able to give the heroes an option as to what system they want to visit, or if they want to see what they can make happen around the ship. Then that choice will give other choices.
If the rebels are in need of some help because they've lost too many missions, and they stay on the ship, there's a possibility to win a reward card from a commander or recruit an ally for the next mission (or remainder of the campaign). Go planet side on Tatooine and get a booster drink at the cantina, or visit an arms merchant for the opportunity to buy a rare tier III item early in the campaign or get a discount on the standard items.
Of course, if the rebels are steam rolling, then they might find themselves in a bit of a firefight in a Mos Eisley back alley. Having to start the next mission with a little less health or endurance. Maybe they get robbed and lose a particular item or reward that has been giving them too much of an upper hand.
This kind of world building is stuff I love as well. I got a new group together that meets weekly, we're playing mission 3 of Twin Shadows this Thursday. I'm going to try and work this into the time after this next mission and I'll report how it goes. I'd love to hear more details on what you do as well. I think being able to add something like this to a custom campaign could help to mitigate issues with mission imbalance that may exist.
