The Mandalorian Season 2! [Spoilers]
Nytwyng replied to P-47 Thunderbolt's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
I think that’s kinda the point. Those taught to follow a given translation believe that theirs is accurate and the others aren’t. -
Follow-up from Trexler/CBLDF after the Polygon article:
-
Firefly is coming to Disney +,
Nytwyng replied to tank0625's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
One of the groups I run is currently in a Firefly-class, using stats that I found around here somewhere. -
I don't disagree.
-
How ‘bout that. It says that Disney’s claim is exactly the scenario Trexler described, and that it’s the sort of thing that can happen, with a final resolution not yet reached. Crazy.

The Mandalorian Season 2! [Spoilers]

I dunno. NCIS and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit seem be enduring pretty well in their 18th and 22nd seasons respectively, while just delivering what comics have long called the illusion of change. (In the case of the latter, a nominally regular character in the opening credits went an entire season without making a single appearance.) SVU, in particular (like the entire Law & Order franchise has typically done) goes out of its way to avoid much of the characters’ personal lives and non-professional interactions, except when it can be an obstacle to the story. (My wife and I have recently started using SVU as sort of “background noise” programming, and the various networks running marathons quite often skip one or more seasons ahead from one episode to the next, and there’s no problem following what’s going on, and the characters remain the same. If one character leaves, they’re replaced by another one that isn’t all that different. For a while, they didn’t even bother having a “regular” Assistant DA in the cast, as they were all interchangeable.) -
In 2019, I ran a "Holiday Special" for one of my groups. A silly little adventure inspired by the Star Wars Holiday Special and the annual Life Day content in Star Wars Galaxies. It wasn't anything heavy, and it's not even necessarily in continuity for the group. (It occurred in the middle of an ongoing plot.) But, it was a way to have a little bit of light fun and toss some extra XP the players' way. I've written it up in more generic form for anyone who might care to use it. It's short (by design), but feel free to improv with it. I meant to have this posted about a week ago, but...life and 2020. Whatcha gonna do, right? (And, @Exusiai, now that this is posted, I can get back to the Minos Cluster conversion. ) I hope you all enjoy. Do They Know It's Life Day? v1.2 (PDF)

HA! Not sure a sad-sack children's clown on Naboo (also from one of the Aftermath books...Empire's End, I think) has the kind of power to green light the program, but we can go with it.

Yep. There are supporting characters who can be spun off of their "home" shows to be the lead without skipping a beat (lookin' at you, Angel). And then there are those who just don't have that presence to be the anchor (How you doin', Joey Tribbiani?). I totally agree that she falls in that latter category. (For that matter, so does Greef. Awesome character, especially now that he's nominally a "good guy." But he'd serve better as one of those characters that does the research back at base, assigns the missions, and occasionally goes out in the field.)

Read those. (Well...listened to the audiobooks.) I thought it sounded familiar, just couldn't place it. My question still stands, though...who in the NR signed off on that as a good idea in the first place? 😆
-
I...seem to remember reading that somewhere. Sentient therapy animals that will gladly cook and eat you...who signed off on this? 😁

Honestly? I’ve thought about throwing Noa in as an NPC sometime. But the GM of the games I play in beat me to it. I think I was the only one at the table who got it when he dropped the name.

I wish I could find the picture, but in the litany of fake logos following the announcement, I think I saw that one. As well as one for Jeans Guy. 😁

I thought the thing we came here to discuss was the Star Wars RPG. General Star Wars discussion is off-topic gravy. Sorry if discussing off-topic matters that are related to the off-topic subject of Star Wars tv shows being discussed offended. I’ll be sure to, as someone (who was that?) said, bend the knee to your wisdom from now on. So...Andor! It’s gonna have Diego Luna! (Looks around for more info on Andor.) Diego Luna! Wooo! ETA: We toss around all kinds of speculation when we get off-topic about the larger Star Wars content - production decisions, what could come up in story and the behind the scenes reasons why it might happen, casting, writing, directors (why some were hired, why some left), producers (the Benioff/Weiss departure), the “production troubles” faced by Solo, etc. So far, the discussion has pretty much stayed to, “Here’s something that could impact Rangers of the New Republic, but that decision’s ultimately up to LFL.” Apparently that’s too far?
-
So, we should discuss tv/movie announcements (off-topic for an RPG forum, even if rooted in the same IP), but not answer questions/discuss issues that could impact audience response (which, in turn, could impact their casting and production). As you wish. So...how ‘bout that knowing Diego Luna will star in the show? (After that, we got nothin’. That’s pretty much all we know.)

If all of those comments are “political comments,” then I think we’ll be hard pressed to avoid “political comments.” /shrug

I can understand the transgender community’s reaction to Carano’s tweets, and that doesn’t require political interpretation at all. Should she lose employment over actions while off the clock? That’s a matter for LFL to decide, either due to any so-called “morality clauses” that may exist in her contract that extend to public communication and perception, or LFL deciding that the cons of keeping her are outweighed by the pros. (Carano and Rosario Dawson are both generating some blowback to LFL from the transgender community.) I mean, if Roseanne Barr can be dropped from her own self-titled series for comments made off the proverbial clock, a supporting performer certainly isn’t immune.

Typos are d'oh! moments. Typos due to your phone auto-filling a very specific abbreviation (complete with mixed case) because you apparently use it enough is just sad. 😆
