So with 4 pages in, I want to bring up a question that really wasn’t seriously explored.
How do we think the two new factions alter the face of game balance? Seppies vs Rebels, suddenly Rebels have the better save (assuming the CIS other units roll comparably to the spoiled B1 Battle Droids). Who will become the better run ‘n gun between empire and republic? Will droid numbers overwhelm Rebels anyway?
I know it is pretty hard to judge since we only know one CIS Corps unit, and one republic corps unit and one commander (the other unit cards are unannounced). Just speculating how we think that’ll go.

IF you're attacking a trooper unit with Blast, the surge to crit doesn't really do much for you. It's nice to have if they have to go into armor, though.

Yeah, that's a bit better, but with reds it gets gross...

Everything but the flamethrower in a full unit throwing this... 5 reds and up to 6 black... with blast and surge to crit?

I don't think I own any of those cards so I use impact grenades. As long as you get that black die instead of white...

Because it's 2 charges that both attack everything at range 1. Toss them in the middle of even just 2 units and they attack 4 times. It's also longer range than most think because you place that charge at range 1 of you and it hits everything at range 1 of itself, so total threat range is a little more than range 2.

That's the best combo for the snow troopers, trow a recon intel on them too, and woo doggie!

A friend of mine uses this but adds frags to his snowtroopers... With the surge to crit the attack pools get gruesome. Even my imperial units have a difficult time surviving an attack.

I mean, I've seen some sweet stuff done with Veers and boba...  but that's beside the point lol

I guess I just don't see the benefit. Sure, you'll get an extra 1 or 2 hits through a round, but compared to the dismal white defense dice, I'd still think the Imps have the advantage. The rebels are cheaper, but not so much so that they gain much, if any, of an activation advantage (provided the list isn't just activation spam with everything running barebones), and even when they do it's generally nullified heavily early game. Whole squads of rebel troops wiped out in 1 or 2 shots.

I'm sure my perspective isn't 100% right. There are players that do well with rebels after all, but the more I see them played the more I think that's a reflection of the player more than the units themselves.

I suppose a break outside my meta might be needed. The rebel players here get thrashed regularly, not because of bad choices but the dice rarely roll in their favor.

My all-snow troopers army can do that. When they aren’t suppressed they use that free Attack action to aim-move-shoot. If they’re in flamethrower range especially... But even if not the free aim helps a ton.

If I were you, based on your past posts, I'd paint 2 core set of rebels and then add only whatever rebels you simply must own from a modelling perspective. That's the most economical option. It gives you a loaner army, and four Z-6's will be able to hold their own in friendly games more or less indefinitely.

I definitely feel like the rebels are underpowered compared to the imps. Locally, 3/4 of our players are imperial and the rebel players do not win. Most times it's a complete landslide. They take the dodges. They bunker down in cover...  but canceling 2-3 dice in a pool of 6-7 hits before rolling no blocks just isn't enough. (and it's not like our terrain layout is sparse.)

(this isn't the game outlined below, just a reference of our terrain).

White defense dice are just a nightmare. The rebels get evaporated so quickly, even when they run Armor support or use snipers to cover. The white defenses make them so vulnerable that they can't effectively control objectives.

My last 3 games against our main rebel player were savagely one sided, and they shouldn't have been. This last one he had a complete advantage over me. He had his mounted gun in perfect position to cover all 5 objective points. He had first deployment with an infiltrate unit. One side of the mat had LoS completely blocked to the objective from my side. He even had more activations than me. The objective was recover the supplies...

All he had to do was activate that infiltrate unit, claim the token and run for the safety of the left side of the mat where the terrain would make it impossible  to flank him. HE EVEN GOT FIRST ACTIVATION. He snagged the objective, moved max speed towards safety and was immediately gunned down by my squad of Death troopers that got a range 4 shot off on the poor mooks the very next activation.

With the objective in the open he had to commit basically all his corps units to recapturing it. Even ran his two armor units up the right flank. By round 4 he was down to his commander and a single commando sniper. He called it there as the imps had control of a 4/5 objective pieces and were heavily dug in.

His loss came down to how easy it was to kill his troops. Honestly, few units survived more than 2 attacks.

I know it's only anecdotal, but from my perspective, it certainly seems like the rebels aren't worth their weight in plastic.

With a couple of small cardboard boxes for the tokens. Fleet cards neatly stacked in order ready to lay out in a line.

I set up ahead of time and use 3d printed trays to organize when available. Most of my fleets will tear down and set up in under 3 minutes this way.

I use three stacks of this bad boy:

They were a top and a bottom for $20 so I bought 2 sets. I used a dremmel to cut the hand out of the bottoms and put foamboard down to cover the hole. I now carry my entire collection with me between the 3 stacks. It's pretty awesome for the price.

I don’t bring my whole collection to tournaments .  I have an otherwise empty battlegoam 1520 bag filled with Tupperware I cart to game nights, but where I expect to play, I have ships build, upgrades in command trays and a small tackle organizer for “supply”, that gets carried to drop in one go.

Husky stackable toolboxes.  With some foam and hot glue, makes for a great expandable case.
