    Hi everyone
Almost as if Sadgit had planned it, the release of the excellent CRRG was two days before my planned release of a new Descent Wiki.
So here it is at http://wiki.descent-community.org
Why a new Wiki? We already have one.
I'm right now with 1500 edit gap to the next the most active committer on the already existing descent wiki at wikia.
I wrote lots of templates to make the pages look uniform and changed almost all of the pages. However wikia doesn't allow access to the site-wide css and doesn't allow changes on the skin-css.
This limits severely what i can do. Since i'm basically the only one actively working on it i could as well just move to my own wiki. Wikia is overloaded with advertisement. 3/4 of the page is advertisement. Adblock fixes parts of that but it still is unbearable. My main problem is that wikias focus is on the adverts and not on the content.
I want to have a wiki without any adverts.
Running different website testing software, a given descent-community wiki site is consistently about 1/4 the size of a comparable wikia site. (~800KB~1MB  vs.  3.5MB~5MB depending on advertisement) The mobile skin of wikia is broken.
    Like... really unfixable broken.
    My goal is to be able to visit the wiki with my mobile phone to look something up fast without the page being broken. Removal of the visual editor. It just doesn't work. Whichever page is edited with the visual editor contains afterwards broken code and has to be fixed by hand. Better not enable it at all than have to cope with this mess. TLDR;
No advertisement Working MobileSkin Access to backend (css, extensions, layout)
    Current State
The descent-community wiki is a fork of the wikia wiki (content wise). It uses MediaWiki 1.27.1 (update to 1.28.0 is in the pipeline) New Look-and-Feel (skin, layout, etc.) is complete Most of the cleanup of the conversion-damage is done (i keep finding small stuff...)
    Next Steps
Currently doing cleanup on stuff which wasn't possible on the wikia (e.g. proper gallery) Add support to the Card Template for Monsters and Lieutenants Add a template for Heroes Convert all the missing pages which aren't using the templates yet (mostly plot-cards, i could use some help on that) Convert the existing templates to use classes instead of inline-css (this allows the templates to look better on mobile since i can have skin specific classes) An updated list can be found here: http://wiki.descent-community.org/Todo

The new Descent Wiki is not my baby, it's Psymia's. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to help him much there. But yes, as far as I know the goal is to include most if not all uFAQs and rule clarifications that I put into the CRRG.
And he needs some help with that! So if you are interested in a great ad-free up-to-date Descent wiki please support him. It's a wiki after all, so just create an account, tell him what you want to work on and have fun.

Not sure if someone is interested in a Discord Server for Descent, but i set one up anyway.
It can be found at https://discord.gg/Np5GpHr
    or is announced on http://descent-community.org/
The forum(s) is/are a great resource (it is persistent and searchable), but sometimes you just want to chat

I don't always use background music. But when I do, I listen to http://tabletopaudio.com/
There are a number of musical and ambient sound settings, which can be just right for environment but not overly distracting.

The Community Rules Reference Guide (CRRG) is a comprehensive resource for all Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition rules. In its current form it features:
Rules from the base game and all released expansion boxes (except the print-on-demand expansions) Rules for Road to Legend including The Delve in separate text boxes Official Errata and FAQ published by FFG (oFAQ, version 1.6) and approximately 400 unoffical FAQs (uFAQs) to specific player questions integrated into the text. Visual examples for “Movement”, “Line of Sight” and “Special Situations in Combat” Tables with overviews on the content of Descent expansions An index with hyperlinks and page numbers When I started this project (in an over-enthusiastic and fairly naive way), I never imagined the time and effort it would cost. I also never imagined what I would learn on the way. And I definitely never imagined the help and the encouragement I would receive from friendly, dedicated and generally fantastic people who I would get to know. I cannot thank you guys and gals enough for this. For me personally, this project is as much about the journey and the things that I experienced on the way, as it is about the final product. And, in my opinion, this is exactly as it should be.

Psymia got a reaction from Sodiumbrella in Release of descent-community wiki 1.1
    My goal is to be able to visit the wiki with my mobile phone to look something up fast without the page being broken. Removal of the visual editor. It just doesn't work. Whichever page is edited with the visual editor contains afterwards broken code and has to be fixed by hand. Better not enable it at all than have to cope with this mess. TLDR;

Psymia reacted to Sadgit in The Community Rules Reference Guide (CRRG) Project
    The CRRG Project

First of all, this is HavocDreams here. I decided to consolidate my FFG and BBG accounts and will be posting under my nick Sadgit in both communities from now on.

A couple of days ago, when I have been asking what kind of rules resource for Descent we really want, two main types were discussed: an online resource and a (printable) PDF document. User Psymia already started designing templates and adding to the Descent Wiki that exists and I hope that with the help of others this will grow into a great online resource for all rule questions.

I decided to start working on a PDF document that I call “Community Rules Reference Guide” (CRRG). The aim of this project is to create a comprehensive resource that unites the rules from the base game, all published expansions, official FAQs, unofficial FAQs, and Errata. Rather than replacing the “Rules of Play” book of the base game when it comes to learning how to play, it is meant to act as a reference for specific and difficult problems which are encountered during a game. It will include relevant keywords of the Descent rule set in alphabetical order followed by sections dealing with rules on specific game components such as cards and quests. Errata and rulings derived from FAQs and uFAQs will be integrated into the text of corresponding sections itself.
As you might have realized, this is a very ambitious project which will take some time to complete. It will also strongly depend on the support that I will get from you guys/gals – hence the word Community in its title. I have already been in contact with Zaltyre and he confirmed his support. I would like to use this thread in the future to ask for help on specific topics (see below), ask for opinions, discussions and keep you updated on the progress.

Psymia got a reaction from InfinityBlack14 in Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
I am trying to do such an FAQ on the wiki.
This was my initial goal when i started working there and quickly found that i kind of need to rewrite the whole wiki.

My inspiration comes from the Netrunner wiki (http://ancur.wikia.com) which serves as a central point to gather rulings regarding the different cards.
    (e.g: http://ancur.wikia.com/wiki/Business_First_UFAQ )
I've added since then the infobox card template, but this work there is not complete yet.
It's missing support for monsters, lieutenants and heroes; At least with the heroes kind of a key point missing for a central FAQ.
I already started adding some FAQ on skills (e.g. http://descent2e.wikia.com/wiki/Runic_Knowledgeor http://descent2e.wikia.com/wiki/Break_the_Rune list of currently added FAQs here: http://descent2e.wikia.com/wiki/Category:FAQ) but i will have to rewrite the FAQ template. In it's current form it's kind of unusable. (And it doesn't look as nice as the ancur one)

My vision is one day to be able to have a question pop up during a quest and just have to open the relevant pages on the wiki and have my answers.

Psymia reacted to Zaltyre in Surge usage
I'm not sure where/when that response is from. The one that I've most often referenced/seen referenced is here (and it states that it overrides the ruling by Adam you're referencing, I think):

As Psymia stated, the scenario flamebane is referring to (shields > damage) is not a miss, it's just an attack where the damage dealt will likely be zero. Note that the state of the attack (miss vs hit) is determined in step 3, but the damage dealt isn't calculated until step 5.

The link refers to having fewer hearts on the attack roll than shields on the defense roll (unluckily referred to as "melee miss").
In such a situation you can use your surges.
If you actually "miss" (you roll an X), you're not allowed to use the surge.
